F. Hodgson, a machinist at Wadsworth, was doing some repairs to his house, and while thus engage he stepped on a rusty nail, which passed through the sole of his shoe and into the hollow of his foot. He suffered some from his injury, but continued at his work three or four days, and then laid off a day or two and again went to work and remained at his post till Wednesday noon, when the pain became so intense as to cause him to quit again. On Thursday morning he was taken seriously ill and medical aid was called, and the physician, Dr. Oliver, pronounced the ailment as lockjaw, and under his advice Mr. Hodson was removed to Sacramento in charge of Mr. Buckland, a companion. They were within five minutes of the hospital when Mr. Hodgson expired. Buckland immediately telegraphed Robert Ritchie, who notified his friends of his death, but has received no reply. Mr. Hodgson was about 36 years of age, a native of Montreal, Canada. He has been a resident of Wadsworth for over two years. He was a member of St. George E. R. Masonic Lodge, also a member of Beaver Lodge No. 6, I.O.O.F., Montreal, Canada. His remains will arrive here tomorrow morning and will be interred in the Masonic Cemetery, under the auspices of the Masons.
