Reno Evening Gazette June 1, 1887
Died Away From Home

Miss Martha Hootman, of Mt. Zion, Iowa, a niece of Mr. and Mrs. C. Allen, who
came to Reno about two months ago to care for an invalid brother who came west
thinking to regain his health, was taken with typhoid fever about ten days ago
and died yesterday morning.  Her remains, in charge of her brother and
brother-in-law, Frank Small, were taken east on the morning train, and will be
buried in the family cemetery in Van Buren county, Iowa.
