S. Ingersoll A dispatch received Friday by Dr. Dawson, announced the sudden death of F. S. Ingersoll (known as George), in San Francisco, Friday morning. The deceased left Reno a few days before, in hopes he could find some improvement to his rapidly declining health; but his disease, which was thought to be inflammation of the lungs, has proved suddenly fatal. It is yet undetermined whether the remains will be brought to Reno for burial or not. It would be gratifying to the large circle of long-time acquaintances of the deceased if they could be. He was a member of Washoe Engine Company, No. 2, of this place, and the department is now draped in mourning in respect to his memory. A funeral notice will appear concerning the life of the deceased, after it is known what the final disposition of the remains will be. It seems that an undertaker in San Francisco has charge of the body and refuses to party control over it until certain arrangements are made. Reno Evening Gazette May 12, 1884 Where George Ingersoll’s Remains Are Deposited It has been finally ascertained what has become of the remains of poor George Ingersoll, who died at San Francisco on the 3d of May. A letter from Dr. Brigham, the attending physician at that city, addressed to Dr. Dawson of this place, states that the remains were given a decent burial in the French Cemetery near Golden Gate Park, and what valuables the deceased had upon his person are deposited in Balloc & Co.’s Banking House in San Francisco. The father of the deceased resides at Butte City, Montana, and is said to be a prominent physician, and a brother who is a dentist by profession, resides at Tombstone, Arizona. L. F. Flint has notified both father and brother of the facts connected with the death and burial of their kindred so far as known.
