Daily Nevada State Journal October 31, 1888
Death of Ike Johnston.—Isaac P. Johnston died Monday night, and will be buried
this afternoon.  He was a native of England, and nearly 60 years of age.  His
death was caused by kidney troubles.  Ike, as he was called by all his friends,
came to this country in 1859 and located at Galena, in this county, but for the
past seventeen years has been farming at Glendale.  He was a good square man,
and his death will cause regret to all who knew him.  He was conscious to the
last, knew that he must die, said that it was hard, but that he guessed he would
have to stand it, but hoped he might live to cast a straight Republican ballot
once more.  He made his will Sunday, and left his property to his wife and
children.
