B. Jones, quite an old-timer on this coast, died a stranger in a strange land. By private conveyance he was traveling with a gentleman friend from California to Wood River, and had accomplished all of the journey save about eight miles, dying on the road about that distance below Bellevue. From J. W. Edwards, of Reno, Nev., we learn that he has been acquainted with deceased for a period of 10 or 12 years. He owned a farm in the east, and had relatives in Iowa; he lived in Reno for a time; was guard at the Nevada State Prison awhile, and from Carson went into California. His health being no better in that State, he concluded to test the Wood River climate.” Jones died near Black’s ranch, 8 miles from Bellevue. The Masons took charge of the burial.
