Details of the accident were not available but it was understood that he lost his life when his automobile plunged into the Rio Grande river when it skidded from an embankment near El Paso. Leon S. Mayer, a brother-in-law, left Reno last night for El Paso, where funeral services and interment will take place. Mr. Lachman was born in Reno forty-five years ago. After attending the elementary schools, he became a student at the University of Nevada, graduating with the class of 1897. He had not lived in Reno for about twenty years, although he paid annual visits to his relatives here. He was one of the popular students at the state university, where he studied mining engineering, graduating with the bachelor of science degree. Mr. Lachman was a member of the Mason fraternity, being affiliated with Reno lodge No. 13, F. & A. M. and of the Reno consistory of the Scottish Rite. He also was a member of the Elks having transferred his membership from Reno lodge to El Paso, where he had been connected for several years as president of the Western Woodenware Company. Besides his widow and three children, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Harriet Lachman; a sister, Mrs. Leon S. Mayer; two brothers, Joseph and Sol J. Lachman, and a niece, Miss Selma Mayer.
