His name was given as “Loftus” at the time of the fire and it was also stated that it was his wife that poured the coal oil into the stove with such disastrous results. It was he himself who poured the oil upon the fire. The can exploded in his hands, deluging his body and limbs with flaming oil. Although the surface burns were very severe, the immediate cause of his death was from his having inhaled the flame of the oil. The deceased was a native of Yorkshire, England, aged 47 years, and leaves a wife and two children. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias, under whose auspices the funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock.
