John W. Lyell, one of Washoe county's early pioneers, passed away on Thursday on 7th inst. at the advanced age of 83 years. Mr. Lyell, while his health permitted, always took a lively and active interest in all State and County affairs and was one of Washoe's substanial citizens. Of late years poor health and his advanced age prevented fequent visits to Reno, but he endevored to keep himself posted on the current affirs of the day. He was familiarly known as "Uncle Billy" and always had a kindly greeting for everyone. By his death Huffaker's precinct loses one of its oldest standbys and he will be greatly missed. He leaves a number of relatives to mourn his loss. The funeral will take place from the family residence this Saturday afternoon at two o'clock and the interment at Huffaker's cemetery.
