McCommish-In North Glendale, Aug. 24, 1912, Jane McCommish dearly beloved mother
of Mrs. R.V. Laking of Sparks; Mrs. W.P. Van Meter, and Alexander McCommish of
North Glendale, a native of Ireland, aged 97 years.
Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services.  Tuesday, Aug.
27, at 2 o’clock p.m., at the chapel of the Perkins-Gulling Co.  Rev Brewster
Adams officiating.  Interment Hillside cemetery.

Death Claims Pioneer Lady
Mrs. Jane McCommish Who Came to Nevada in 1879 Passes Away, Age 97
Mrs. Jane McCommish died at her home in Glendale Saturday at the age of 97
years, leaving three children, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren
and great-great-grandchildren to mourn her death.  The deceased was a native of
Ireland and was born in 1815.  She came to Nevada in 1879 after having been
married in Scotland in 1843. She lived in Glendale from 1879 until death claimed
her, and her descendants are among the well-known families of the county.  The
funeral will take place from the chapel of the Perkins-Gulling parlors at 2
o’clock Tuesday afternoon and Rev. Brewster Adams of the Baptist church will
officiate.  Interment will be in the Hillsdale cemetery.
Mrs. McCommish leaves three children, Mrs. R.V. Laking of Sparks, Mrs. W.P. Van
Meter of North Glendale, and Alexander McCommish of North Glendale.  Her
grandchildren are Mrs. Bert Sessions, Mrs. Lou Sessions, Mrs. Margaret Bridges,
Mrs. Rose Day, Charles Laking, Matthew Laking, Robert Balmaine and Joseph
Balmaine of the Laking branch, and of the Van Meter branch, Robert Harris,
William, Joseph and Belle Van Meter and Mrs. Charles Gault, who has two
children.  These two children are of the fourth generation.  Berta Matke,
daughter of Robert and Carrie Matke, represents the fifth generation
