McCormick, aged 70 years, died Saturday in this city. She was the mother of Mrs. W.E. Lemmon, Mrs. J.F. Rogers and J.V. McCormick of Reno, and W.C. McCormick of Oakland. The funeral was held this afternoon from the Presbyterian church, burial being in I.O.O.F. cemetery. Mrs. McCormick was born in New York City. When 17 years old she married Joseph V. McCormick, one of the three brothers who came west during the gold mining excitement of California, locating in Sierra county where he discovered the Oriental mine. He gave the camp the name of his old home in Pennyslvania, Allegheny. Seven children were born to the couple. Mr. McCormick died 35 years ago. After his death Mrs. McCormick moved to Oakland and later came to Reno, where she has made her home with her son, J.V. McCormick.
