Metcalf died suddenly in this city late yesterday afternoon at the home of her son, O.U. Metcalf, traveling freight and passenger agent for the Southern Pacific company. Mr. Metcalf was absent at the time in southern Nevada on official business, but will return tonight. His mother’s death came unexpectedly, although she had been ill for some time, having suffered a stroke of paralysis several months ago while traveling in the east. Upon receipt of the news of her illness Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf immediately went east and, after the aged lady’s health permitted, they brought her back to Reno to reside with them. Mrs. Metcalf is survived by her husband, Thernon Metcalf, and by her son, O.U. Metcalf. She was aged 66 years 3 months and 11 days and was a native of Michigan. Arrangements for her funeral will be made as soon as her son arrives from the south.
