K. J. Stanley took place this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence of his sister, Mrs. H. P. Turpin. Death of an Old Pioneer S. K. J. Stanley, a resident of this State for 20 years, died Monday morning at the residence of his sister, Mrs. H. P. Turpin. Mr. Stanley was a veteran of the Mexican war, serviced in the Florida war in 1828, also in the war of rebellion. He came to California in the Fall of 1848 on the first steamship that ever steamed into San Francisco harbor. He leaves a brother, Joseph C. B. Stanley, and a sister, Mrs. H. P. Turpin, and a large circle of friends in this State to mourn his loss. He has been sick for nearly 8 years, and death has at last relieved him of his suffering. He has earnestly prayed for death for several months, and was anxious to pass into the dark future.
