Daily Nevada State Journal May 28, 1899
James H. Sturtevant, formerly of Washoe Valley, this county, died at his home in
Hopland, California, on the 25th inst. of heart failure.  All old residents of
Washoe county will remember Mr. Sturtevant as one of our foremost citizens in
early days.  He represented Washoe county in the State Legislature and was for
one term, if not two, a County Commissioner.  He was seventy years of age.
