At noon yesterday H. L. Fish received a telegram from San Francisco announcing the death of William A. Walker. His wife, who left Reno on the delayed train yesterday morning, did not reach him in time to see him alive. His uncle, J. C. Hagerman, went down on the last night’s train to attend the funeral. Walker was a member of the Masonic and Knights of Pythias lodges of Reno, and was also a member of the Endowment Rank of the latter, which assures $3,000 to his wife. He allowed his Masonic insurance of $7,500 to die out some time ago. Billy Walker was Sheriff of this county for four years. He was an educated gentleman, and had not his superior in Washoe county. His death- the result of whisky- should serve as a warning to all who knew him, and regret his untimely taking off.
