He located in Reno in the early days, and was a stage driver for the old Pioneer Company. Later, he and Nels Hammond opened a livery stable. For the past three years he has been sick, and a part of the time out of his head. Death is but a pleasant sleep for him, although his demise will be regretted by all who knew him. He was one of the best men that ever lived. The funeral will take place to-morrow. Reno Evening Gazette August 11, 1888 The Funeral of John Wilson The funeral of John Wilson took place from the Nevada Theater building this afternoon at 2 o’clock, and was largely attended by the friends and acquaintances of the deceased pioneer. Rev. J. M. Rankin officiated at the service, and the following gentlemen acted as pall-bearers: W. O. H. Martin, A. H. Manning, W. M. Havenor, J. A. Fitzgerald, C. Lemery and J. L. Conroy.
