Weigel Alworth, age 82, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Winona, Kan., to Michael and Catherine Reidel Weigel and had been a Gabbs resident since 1952, coming from Fallon. She was a homemaker, lifetime member of the women's auxillary of VFW Post 3677, member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gabbs, and was known for her many talents as a seamstress and sewing of comforters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ed Alworth, in 2001 and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law: Pat and Wayne Whitten of Fallon, Frances and Kelly Hanifen of Gabbs and Gail and Joe Carter of Carson City; son and daughter in law, Jim and Penny Alworth of Ely; sister Martha Schreuder of Billings, Mont.; brother Daniel Weigel of Pasco, Wash.; grandchildren: Tony and Karen Whitten, Kelli and James Hanifen, Amy Hendrickson and her husband Corey, Leslie Alworth; great grandchildren Kenna Whitten, Derek Whitten, Cody and Martina Day, Tyler, Paul, Madison and Morgan Hendrickson; her special niece "Angel" Anna Forsberg; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Sandy Bentz Woodrum. A celebration of her life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Dr., Fallon, (775) 423-2255. An inurnment committal service will follow at the Fallon cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will follow the committal service at 2660 Highland Dr. in Fallon. Donation may be made in her memory to the Churchill County Museum, 1050 S.
