Oldest Indian In State Dead: Was Nearly 100

Hamilton Pete, probably one of the oldest Indians in the state, died last night
in his wickiup below the Indian camp on the west side of Murry canyon.  He had
been sick about two days and was attended by Matty, the wife of George Adams,
who was present when he died.

Pete lived in Hamilton most of the time since that part of the county was
settled by white men following the discovery of rich silver deposits of Treasure
hill in 1867.  He was an old man at that time and was probably between 90 and
100 years old when he died.
