On Saturday Jane Hadden Purdy followed her companion to the country beyond the dark river. Mr. Purdy was born near Poughkeepsie, New York, Aug. 14th, 1801, and was the eldest of 13 children. He removed with his parents to Oirskany, Oneida county. On April 24th, 1827, he and Jane Hadden were married. They lived in Buffalo, Aurora and Rome, and moved to Downieville, Cal. In 1862. October 26th, 1825, Mr. Purdy was made Master Mason in Aurora, New York. He was for many years a faithful member of the Baptist church, but never joined on this coast. In his last moments he implored divine help, having implicit faith in the Savior. He moved to Long Valley in 1862, where he had a fine ranch. He was only sick four days with pleuro-pneumonia. Mrs. Purdy has been an invalid for some years. They leave a family of children, all grown up and in prosperous circumstances. The funeral of Mrs. Purdy will take place from the Congregational church tomorrow at 10 A.M.
