April 17—Jane Ryan, wife of John Ryan, an employe at Copper Flat, committed suicide Sunday by taking a diluted solution of carbolic acid. She swallowed the fatal dose at 9 o’clock Saturday night, but she lingered until 6:15 Sunday morning when she died in spite of medical attention. Despondency as the result of excessive drinking was the cause according to the testimony before the coroner’s jury which brought in a verdict to that effect and that no one else but herself was responsible. The Ryans have been living in a tent near Veteran but were to have removed to Star Pointer. The woman is reported to have said she would not go there and that she would kill herself first. She was a native of Minnesota but came here from Butte where her people live now.
