Larry Degnan, died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy in the loving comfort and care of her family. Born on April 29, 1943 in Yonkers, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Lahosky Gillette and was a graduate of Yonkers High School of Commerce. Mrs. Degnan was a career executive assistant having been employed at ABC Studios and RCA Records, both in Manhattan and at Mangione's Locksmiths in Troy. She had also been employed by Stewart's Shops, R.P.I. and the former Two-Way Food Mart in Troy. Nancy loved traveling, especially trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, swing dancing and was well known as a Jeopardy expert. Like Larry, the love of her life, Nancy engulfed herself in the lives of her grandchildren by attending academic and sports functions, camping or even most recently ballroom dancing. She was a communicant of St. William's Church. He was the beloved husband of Armida DeTommasi Hunter. Born in Troy, he was son of the late Robert and Mae Little Hunter. Donald was a graduate of Watervliet High School and Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute. Mr. Hunter had worked as a machinist at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in 1981. He had been a lifelong resident of Watervliet. Donald served as a flight chief in the 425th Night Fighters Squadron in the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1945. He participated in the Central European Campaigns. Survivors, in addition to his loving wife, Armida, include his sister, Naomi Sevene, Waltham, Mass. and several nieces and nephews. Kosinski, Marion SCHENECTADY Marion Kosinski, 89, formerly of Vrooman Avenue, Amsterdam, died Tuesday morning, August 3, 2004 at the Avenue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. Born in Amsterdam on May 29, 1915, she was the daughter of Bazyl and Helen Orleanski Zielinski. She attended Amsterdam Schools and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs Kosinski was employed for many years by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance until her retirement. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. Mrs Kosinski was married to Raymond A. Kosinski Sr. He died on September 2, 2000. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Norbert Kosinski and his wife, Shirley of Niskayuna and Raymond A. Kosinski Jr. of Amsterdam; three grandchildren, Carrie Nowik and her husband, Gary of Guilderland, Michael Kosinski and his wife, Cynthia of Albany and Raymond A. Page, Harold William Bill BALLSTON SPA Harold William Bill Page, 79, of Trieble Village, died on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Albany Medical Center from injuries he received earlier in the day in a bicycle-motor vehicle accident in Malta. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on March 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Harold W. and Emily Cekalski Page. Bill graduated from CBA of Syracuse and enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he entered Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. where he was awarded a bachelor of science degree. He worked for the National Manufacturing Co. in Syracuse as a salesman. Bill relocated to the Albany area in 1955 and worked for the Shaheen Co. of Rochester, covering a large territory in the East selling paint and wallpaper products. Mr. Page was an avid hiker, skier and bicyclist. He was a member of the Albany chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, the Nature Conservancy, Mohawk-Hudson Bicycling Club, Adirondack Council, a member of the Adirondack 46er's #578, a former member of the Sitzmarker Ski Club and the Schenectady Winter Sports Club. Bill also raised money for both the American Lung Association and the Friends of the Saratoga Battlefield through his athletic endeavors. He is survived by his brother, R. Glen Page of Farmington, N.Y. along with many friends, fellow bicyclists and hikers. A Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated by Bill's friend, Rev. John J. Mrs. Smith was born in Schenectady, N.Y. on January 5, 1907, and had worked for the New York Telephone Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1970 as chief operator in the Troy, N.Y. office. Mrs. Smith belonged to many area organizations, among them; the Order of the Eastern Star, Van Rensselaer chapter #256 (life member) where she had been worthy matron and district deputy grand matron for the Albany-Rensselaer-Schenectady District in 1957; the Daughters of the Nile #18; Marvia Court #27, LOS; the Ella C. Perry Court #27, Order of the Amaranth; The Shakespearean Society of Rensselaer, N.Y.; the Rensselaer Mothers Club; the AARP, where she received an Outstanding Service to the Community Award in 1996; the Rensselaer City Historical Society (chapter member) the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a member for over 50 years of the First Baptist Church of Rensselaer. Born and raised in Watervliet, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lena Charles Granato. Mary was a graduate of Watervliet High School and Mildred Elley Business School in Albany. She was employed at Cluett Peabody Co. in Troy and following her marriage was a homemaker raising her two sons. Along with her late husband Joe, she was the owner and fabulous host of Verni's Diner on 19th Street in Watervliet which they operated from 1962 to 1980. She later worked at Cohoes Manufacturing in clothing sales and also did corporate product demonstrations. Mary always exhibited style and grace, loved the theatre, going to the movies, shopping, spending time with her nieces and nephews, traveling, wonderful dinners with her family and playing bocci at the Italian Community Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph T. Verni who died in 1997; devoted mother of Thomas J. Verni of King of Prussia, Pa. and Harry Verni of Long Beach, Calif.; mother-in-law of Carla Verni and Stephanie Guastella; adored grandmother of Jordan, Erin and Brendan Verni and Shannon Hackett; loving sister of John R. Granato of Watervliet and Gloria Tangredi and her husband Chuck of Troy and the late Harry, Dominick, Frank and Rose Granato.
