STILLWATER Charles J. Antolick, 82, of South Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at the South Western Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. Born May 15, 1922, son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Brieger Antolick. Charles was a graduate of LaSalle High School. He had been an operating engineer with Frank E. Antolick & Sons Construction Co. of Schaghticoke. He also worked for several other area contractors. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1946 where he obtained the rank of sergeant while serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and Okinawa during World War II. He was a member of the Stillwater American Legion Post 490 and life member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include one son, Charles (Kathy) Antolick of Schaghticoke; three daughters, Jonna Gniewek of Calif., Donna (P.J.) Pfiester and Deborah Blain, both of Fla.; one brother, Joseph Antolick of Schaghticoke; special dear friend of Carol Lavertue of Stillwater. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Antolick. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday at the convenience of the family from the Chase Funeral Home, 173 Main St., Schaghticoke. There will be no calling hours. Bonaventura, Gino ALBANY Gino Bonaventura, 85, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Bronte, Italy on May 25, 1919 to the late Nunzio and Nunziata Bonaventura. Gino was a master tailor trained in the old world tradition who always had a song in his heart and on his lips. As owner of a men's store and tailor shop in Italy, he delighted in passing his skills to a new generation of apprentices. Upon his arrival in 1961, he continued his career in the finest men's shops in the Capital District. In 1981 he retired from Macy's and began to enjoy his retirement with Concettina, the love of his life. Gino enjoyed bocci and other social activities as a lifetime member of the IACC. He was happiest at family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. Gino is survived by his beloved soulmate of 57 years, Concettina Schiliro Bonaventura; his three daughters, Tina (Lino) Verrelli of Slingerlands, Margherita Bonaventura-Sparagna (Peter Sparagna) of Delmar and Anna Maria Bonaventura Ed.D. of Albany. Much loved Papa of David (Vicky), Adriana and Leeana Verrelli, Joshua Bonaventura-Sparagna and Christopher Basile. Also his nephew, Joseph (Elisa) Camuglia of Albany and numerous family and friends in the U.S. and Italy. Born in Albany on September 20, 1952, he is the son of Shirley Gardner Chillemi of Halfmoon and the late Santo Chillemi. He was raised and educated in Albany and was a 1971 graduate of Albany High School. At one time, he was the owner of C & C Auto Repair in Albany. For the past 18 years, he was employed by the NYS Dept. of Correctional Services Division of Corcraft Industries in Menands as a supervisor in installation and repair. Craig was a car and boat enthusiast who enjoyed NASCAR, avid NY Yankee fan and Motown music. He was a former member of the Watervliet Elks and the Watervliet AOH. He was the husband of Laurie B. Hollingsworth Chillemi of Watervliet; father of Craig J. Chillemi of Long Island and Danielle Nicole Chillemi of Watervliet; brother of Susan C. O'Connor of Waterford; uncle of Kirsten Turner and Courtney O'Connor, both of Waterford; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Born in Troy, November 5, 1921, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Ferris Freije. He graduated from St. Mary's School in Troy. In 1937, he moved to Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High in 1941. During World War II, he worked for American Locomotive in Schenectady. At the end of the war, he returned to work for the family business, the Big Value Super Market located on the corner of Main and Columbia Streets in Cohoes. In 1978, he retired, moving to Fla. with his wife Dorothy Freije who died two years ago. He enjoyed traveling around the world. He was the brother of Philip and Fred Freije, both of Cohoes, Joseph Freije of Waterford, Margaret and Mary Freije, both of Cohoes and the late George Freije and Theresa (Terry) Freije Luke; uncle of Charles Luke of Lake George, Billy Luke of Latham, Fred Freije of Troy, Barbara Preston of Albany and Ann Marie Luke Ballard of Latham. Gonyea, 55, of Malta, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany, he was the loving son of Elizabeth Fiske Gonyea and the late Andrew Gonyea. Rick was an Albany area resident for all of his life. He worked in construction for 37 years and was a member of Union Local #370 in Albany. Rick was a simple man with a big heart. He enjoyed visiting and vacationing in Disney and watching NASCAR racing. Rick is the beloved husband of 34 years to Carol Jones Gonyea. He is the devoted father of Tracey and Scott Gonyea of Albany. He is the brother of Brian Gonyea of Saratoga, Judy Allen of Malta and Joanne Mueller of Albany. Rick was the friend and co-worker of Lonnie McKinnis of Schenectady. Several nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion, Payton also survive. He retired after 30 years from the New York Telephone Company where he was an electrical engineer. Mr. Greene was an U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Catholic War Veterans. He was the dear husband of Dorothy M. Van Epps Greene; beloved father of Donna M. Gaffney (Patrick) of Loudonville and Stephen J. Greene (Ann Marie) of Guilderland; dear grandfather of Thomas P. Gaffney (Anna), Kellie M. Kelly, Eleanor M. DELMAR After a long illness, Eleanor M. Kelly died peacefully on August 7, 2004 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Delmar in the presence of her family. She was born Eleanor Mary Barnes on October 31, 1926 in New York City to Frank and Catherine (Hughes) Barnes. She was a volunteer and homemaker while her family lived in northern New Jersey, Toledo, Ohio, and southern New Jersey. Eleanor then worked as librarian at St. Joseph's High School in Camden, N.J., where she also managed the Diocesan film library and started the school's interracial rap group. She later became librarian at Our Lady of Lourdes Nursing School in Camden, continuing until her retirement in 1995. A committed opponent of violence, Eleanor was an active member of the Catholic Cursillo and Pax Christi movements and a volunteer for a crisis line and other community organizations during the 30 years she lived in Westmont, N.J. She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Haddonfield, N.J. More recently, she lived in Lexington, S.C., before moving to Good Samaritan in Delmar. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard and husband Joseph. She is survived by her children, Ellen Kelly-Lind and Gary Lind of Delmar, N.Y. and their children Brian Lind and Anne Lind; Marybeth Kelly Mahrer and David Mahrer of Lexington, S.C. and their children Catherine Mahrer and Matthew Mahrer; and Joe Kelly and Nancy Gruver of Duluth, Minn. and their children Mavis Gruver and Antonia Kelly. McGill, David Patrick ALBANY David Patrick McGill died at St. Peter's Hospital on Thursday, July 15, 2004. He was 52 years old and had been in ill health for several years. David was the second of three sons born in Troy, N.Y. to Michael Robert McGill and Catherine Grimley McGill. Both parents and his younger brother, Paul Joseph McGill, predeceased him. He attended Catholic Central High School in Troy and earned his bachelor of arts degree at Excelsior University (then Regents College) in 1994. He worked for the NYS Tax and Finance Department. In the 1990s, he was a member of the parish council at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and a Eucharistic minister there. He was also a tutor for Literacy Volunteers. During the 1970s and 80s, he volunteered at the Gertrude Stein Book Collective and wrote film reviews for Capital District Alive. Friends will remember his effervescent smile and his enthusiastic interest in books, theater, film and in helping people in need. He is survived by his partner of 23 years, Joseph F. Shubert of Albany; his brother, Michael McGill of Schenectady; and his beloved miniature schnauzer, Nicky Arnstein. Catherine was born on June 2, 1922, daughter of the late Frederick and Louise (Rowe) Charles. Catherine was predeceased by husbands, Garrie E. Hotaling and George I. Turner Jr.; sisters, Viola Samuels and Laura Campione; brothers-in-law, Staats Hotaling, Joseph Samuels, John Campione, Arthur Smith and Donald Hotaling. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Monday morning, August 9, 2004 at the Babcock Funeral Home. Wozniak, 87, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after being stricken at home on Tuesday. Born in Albany and a graduate of Albany High, he was the son of the late Ludwick and Wanda Piechowicz Wozniak. Mr. Wozniak was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Wozniak was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the NARFE Chapter 141, the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520 and the AARP Fort Orange Chapter. He was an avid gardener. Husband of the late Maryann Orkovitz Wozniak who died in 1995; father of Beverly Ann Brigantia of Buffalo, N.Y. Louis J. Wozniak and his wife Pam of Albany and Shirley Ann Bacon and her husband Wesley Dean of Liverpool, N.Y.; brother of Stephen A. Wozniak of Leesburgh, Fla., Regina Zapatka of Naughatuck, Conn. and the late Edward Wozniak and Raymond George Wozniak; grandfather of James Walter Cox, Louis Joseph Wozniak, Aileen McCrillis and Samantha Wozniak. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 21 Hackett Blvd. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
