Bergman, Lois BURNT HILLS Lois Bergman died on Sunday, August 8, 2004 peacefully at home with her loving family at her side. Lois was born Lois Ann Chowjewski to parents Alexander and Anna in Hoboken, N.J. on June 7, 1940 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was raised in Jersey City, N.J. spending many of her early summers at Cedar Lake, N.J. She graduated high school in 1958 from Holy Family High School in Union City, N.J. Lois became a registered nurse upon graduating St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1961, Hoboken, N.J. where she was elected vice president of her class. She served as a nurse and went on to enroll in Jersey City State College earning a B.A. in teaching in 1966. Lois started teaching in the RN program in Morristown, N.J. at All Souls Hospital in 1966. She was married to Frederick Bergman in May 1967. Her oldest son, Christopher Alexander was born in March 1968. She moved with her family to Burnt Hills, N.Y. She worked as a nurse in the Mt. Snow Ski Resort in Vermont that season as well. Her youngest son, Russell Andrew was born in 1970. Lois raised her two boys full time until she completed a nursing refresher course at Albany Med after which she worked as a staff nurse at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady from 1978 through 1985. She proceeded as a nursing instructor for the Albany/Schenectady/Schoharie/Saratoga County BOCES once she received her New York State certification in 1984. She continued to teach for BOCES until 2003. She received an excellence in teaching award in 1994 from BOCES. She enjoyed teaching all ages of students from high school to adult students. She worked as a substitute nurse in Burn Hills High School in 1988 and 1989. In addition, she served as the office nurse to Dr. Stephen Grant in Clifton Park from 1984 until 1989. She served on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) panel where she authored questions for the nursing state board examinations from 1994 to 2002. She reviewed nursing texts and publications for Delmar Publishers various times in the late 1990s. She retired from BOCES in 2004. Among Lois' many interests and enjoyments were gardening, decorating and vacations on Cape Cod with her family. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Scotia. Lois wishes to sincerely thank the team of doctors and staff at Riverview NY Oncology and Community Hospice of Schenectady County for their outstanding professionalism and dedication. Lois and her family also wish to extend their gratitude to her countless fellow nursing friends who offered their unrelenting support over the years, but especially over the past few weeks. Lois is survived and will always be loved by her husband Frederick; sons, Russell and Christopher; sister, Ruth Rendle; and mother, Anna Chowski. Born in Bronte, Italy on May 25, 1919 to the late Nunzio and Nunziata Bonaventura. Gino was a master tailor trained in the old world tradition who always had a song in his heart and on his lips. As owner of a men's store and tailor shop in Italy, he delighted in passing his skills to a new generation of apprentices. Upon his arrival in 1961, he continued his career in the finest men's shops in the Capital District. In 1981 he retired from Macy's and began to enjoy his retirement with Concettina, the love of his life. Gino enjoyed bocci and other social activities as a lifetime member of the IACC. He was happiest at family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. Gino is survived by his beloved soulmate of 57 years, Concettina Schiliro Bonaventura; his three daughters, Tina (Lino) Verrelli of Slingerlands, Margherita Bonaventura-Sparagna (Peter Sparagna) of Delmar and Anna Maria Bonaventura Ed.D. of Albany. Much loved Papa of David (Vicky), Adriana and Leeana Verrelli, Joshua Bonaventura-Sparagna and Christopher Basile. Born in Albany on September 20, 1952, he is the son of Shirley Gardner Chillemi of Halfmoon and the late Santo Chillemi. He was raised and educated in Albany and was a 1971 graduate of Albany High School. At one time, he was the owner of C & C Auto Repair in Albany. For the past 18 years, he was employed by the NYS Dept. of Correctional Services Division of Corcraft Industries in Menands as a supervisor in installation and repair. Craig was a car and boat enthusiast who enjoyed NASCAR, avid NY Yankee fan and Motown music. He was a former member of the Watervliet Elks and the Watervliet AOH. He was the husband of Laurie B. Hollingsworth Chillemi of Watervliet; father of Craig J. Chillemi of Long Island and Danielle Nicole Chillemi of Watervliet; brother of Susan C. O'Connor of Waterford; uncle of Kirsten Turner and Courtney O'Connor, both of Waterford; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cohen, age 58 years of Coxsackie, passed away suddenly Friday, August 6, 2004 at home with her loving husband of 33 years, Raymond A. Cohen at her side. She was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur C. Pelton and Katherine E. Pelton (Barney). She was born on December 23, 1946 at Brady Hospital in Albany. While living in Rensselaer and later moving to Albany, she attended Our Lady Help of Christians School and Mercy High. Through her adult years, she enjoyed competing in car racing and Lebanon Valley, at the time Powder Puff Race for females and competed in the drags. She moved to Greene County and ran three businesses that were successful. Whatever career she pursued, she gave it her all. She loved music, was very artistic and enjoyed dancing, antiques, boating and C.B.'s. She also became involved at various rallies to support our troops. She is survived by her mother-in-law, Florence H. Cohen and the late Abraham Cohen; her two brothers are Donald C. Pelton of Coxsackie and Dr.Arthur W. Pelton Sr. of Sand Lake;aunt of Arthur W. Pelton Jr., Sandra J. Pelton, Mark C. Pelton; as well as many grandnieces and nephews. Private cremation will take place he Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands. He worked in construction for 37 years and was a member of Union Local #370 in Albany. Rick was a simple man with a big heart. He enjoyed visiting and vacationing in Disney and watching NASCAR racing. Rick is the beloved husband of 34 years to Carol Jones Gonyea. He is the devoted father of Tracey and Scott Gonyea of Albany. He is the brother of Brian Gonyea of Saratoga, Judy Allen of Malta and Joanne Mueller of Albany. Rick was the friend and co-worker of Lonnie McKinnis of Schenectady. (Thompson) Hoffa of Craryville, N.Y. and the late James P. Hoffa Sr. He had been a resident of Colonie before moving to Craryville in 1979. Mr. Hoffa was a graduate of Taconic Hills Central School in 1980 and was the owner of J.J.'s Pizza in Craryville and later J.J. Pizza and Pub in Copake from 1992-2004. He was also a self-employed electrical contractor in Columbia County. Joseph was a member of the Wednesday Night Golf League at Copake Country Club, a member of Tuesday Night A.P.A. Pool League in Columbia County and an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and Dale Earnhardt Sr. Surviving are his daughter, Jennafer Hoffa of Kinderhook; his mother, Judith E. Hoffa of Craryville; a sister and brother-in-law, Jacquelyn and Scott Decker of Craryville; two nephews, Scott and Dylan Decker; an uncle and aunt, Richard and Toni Bolton of Las Vegas; two cousins, John Paul Bolton and Jessica Lynn Bolton. Kelly died peacefully on August 7, 2004 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Delmar in the presence of her family. She was born Eleanor Mary Barnes on October 31, 1926 in New York City to Frank and Catherine (Hughes) Barnes. She was a volunteer and homemaker while her family lived in northern New Jersey, Toledo, Ohio, and southern New Jersey. Eleanor then worked as librarian at St. Joseph's High School in Camden, N.J., where she also managed the Diocesan film library and started the school's interracial rap group. She later became librarian at Our Lady of Lourdes Nursing School in Camden, continuing until her retirement in 1995. A committed opponent of violence, Eleanor was an active member of the Catholic Cursillo and Pax Christi movements and a volunteer for a crisis line and other community organizations during the 30 years she lived in Westmont, N.J. She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Haddonfield, N.J. More recently, she lived in Lexington, S.C., before moving to Good Samaritan in Delmar. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard and husband Joseph. She is survived by her children, Ellen Kelly-Lind and Gary Lind of Delmar, N.Y. and their children Brian Lind and Anne Lind; Marybeth Kelly Mahrer and David Mahrer of Lexington, S.C. and their children Catherine Mahrer and Matthew Mahrer; and Joe Kelly and Nancy Gruver of Duluth, Minn. and their children Mavis Gruver and Antonia Kelly. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Lou (Matt) Mahon of Pittsburgh, Pa.; her brother Frank (Ruth) Barnes of Antelope, Calif.; sister-in-law, Elaine Barnes of Lake Ariel, Pa.; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Looman, James R. SARATOGA SPRINGS James R. Looman of Loughberry Park, died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 69. Born on September 3, 1934 in Adams, Mass., he was a Saratoga Springs area resident for 13 years and son of the late Earl and Irene Looman. James was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1952 to 1955 and then in the reserves from 1955 to 1960 when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Electronics Technician Third Class. He worked for 40 years as a technician for the Ford Motor Company in Green Island and enjoyed painting, watching television and woodgraving. He is survived by his wife Rita Nunez Looman of Saratoga Springs; two sons, James F. Looman and his wife Janet of Clifton Park and Richard Looman and his wife Merci of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Dawn Adalian and her husband Harry of Rensselaer and Jean Riddle and her husband Dan of Brant Lake; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and Dora Looman, Timothy and Kristen Adalian and Kyrstin and Michael Riddle; his stepson, Manny Gonzalez Jr. and his wife Maria of Utah; a sister, Earlene Johnson and her husband Byron of Mass.; several nieces and nephews. Marlin of Colonie, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2004. He was born in Jamaica, Queens, NY and is the loving son of Melvyn Marlin and the late Joan Knight Marlin. Mr. Marlin was a Colonie resident for most of his adult life. He was currently a manager for Applebee's Restaurant in East Greenbush. He was an avid New York Giants football fan and a New York Yankees fan. Mr. Marlin enjoyed walking, reading his three daily newspapers, cooking and listening to jazz music. In addition to his father, Melvyn is survived by his beloved wife, Susan M. Marlin. He is the devoted father of Stephanie Trapasso and her fiance Seth Wyman. He is the cherished brother of Denise Robinson, Joy Marlin, Thane Marlin and Nadia and Nicole Carter. He is the nephew of Michele Bryant and her husband Kelvin and Paulette Morris and her husband Calvin. Melvyn is the brother-in-law of Ann and Geoff MacDonald, Marty and Pam Lawlor, Robert and Debbie Lawlor, Albert and Ode Lawlor and Michael and Darlene Lawlor. Born and raised in NYC, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Carrie Selby. Lourecie had worked for many years at the Mt. Morris Park Family Day Care in NYC. She was a loving caring person. Lourecie was a role model who made an impact on many young women and men in the Harlem area with words of wisdom. She was predeceased by her husband Abraham Montgomery Sr. and her son, Abraham Montgomery Jr. Lourecie is survived by her children, Sheila Montgomery Ross, Veronica Montgomery Miller, Laverne Weekes Wilson, Kevin Montgomery Sr., Darryl Montgomery and Robin Montgomery. She is also survived by her brother, Lawrence Selby Jr.; 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. O'Connor, J. Andrew LATHAM J. Andrew O'Connor, 43, of Latham passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2004. Andy is the son of John and Katherine O'Connor of Edenton, N.C., formerly of Latham. Mr. O'Connor was a 1983 graduate of Siena College. He was currently employed as the district sales associate of the tri-state area for Penzoil. Andy is survived by his wife, Marcy O'Connor; and his sons, Jack and Dan O'Connor, all of Latham. Pytell Jr., age 81 years, of Glen Street, died suddenly Sunday, August 8, 2004. He was born in Albany and lived his life in Rensselaer, the city he loved. He was the devoted son of the late Andrew J. Pytell Sr. and Florence C. Burke Pytell. Andy was a graduate of St. John's Academy in Rensselaer and Siena College. Mr. Pytell was a cost accountant and internal auditor for the Sterling Drug Co. in Rensselaer. Andy was former city clerk for Rensselaer and was a founding member of the Rensselaer Little League. He was a charter member of the E.F. Hart Hose Fire Co. and an honorary life member of Rensselaer Council #267 K of C. Andy was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Gerald O'Neil American Legion Post #1683 in Rensselaer. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and sports fan. Andy was a communicant of St. John's Church in Rensselaer. Mrs. Sehl was born in Binghamton, but lived in Albany since the 1940s. She worked for the NYS Dept. of Labor until her retirement. Harriet was an avid bowler in both the Kusky's Seniors and the Jolly Seniors Leagues. She was also a member of the AARP. Mrs. Sehl was the loving wife of 57 years to the late Harold E. Sehl. She is survived by her son, Robert C. and his wife Lucinda Sehl of Albany, N.Y.; daughter, Marie A. and her husband John D. Leuallen of Cape Cod, Mass. and Venice, Fla.; sister, Beverly McCauley of Puyallup, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Tripp, Albert W. HANNACROIX, N.Y. Albert W. Tripp died peacefully at his home in Hannacroix Saturday, August 7, 2004. He was born April 18, 1934 in Walden, N.Y., the son of Wendell and Eva (Welsch) Tripp. Al was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, an American patriot and a lifelong supporter of patriotic causes. He was retired from the NYS Department of Correctional Services in 1991 with the rank of lieutenant. Al is survived by his wife, Anne; sons, Albert Jr. and Peter Tripp; stepdaughter, Donna Bartlett and her husband Gary; stepsons, Douglas and Gordon Carmichael and Gordon's wife Anne; his sisters, Marion Welsch and Mickey Meier and Mickey's husband Gene; his brother, Wendell Tripp and his wife Maria; and his grandchildren, Heather and Holly Bartlett, Douglas, April and Kevin Carmichael. Al continued the generosity he showed in life by making an anatomical gift of his body to Albany Medical College. His family and friends will have a private celebration of his life on August 21. Wozniak, 87, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after being stricken at home on Tuesday. Born in Albany and a graduate of Albany High, he was the son of the late Ludwick and Wanda Piechowicz Wozniak. Mr. Wozniak was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Wozniak was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the NARFE Chapter 141, the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520 and the AARP Fort Orange Chapter. He was an avid gardener. Husband of the late Maryann Orkovitz Wozniak who died in 1995; father of Beverly Ann Brigantia of Buffalo, N.Y. Louis J. Wozniak and his wife Pam of Albany and Shirley Ann Bacon and her husband Wesley Dean of Liverpool, N.Y.; brother of Stephen A. Wozniak of Leesburgh, Fla., Regina Zapatka of Naughatuck, Conn. and the late Edward Wozniak and Raymond George Wozniak; grandfather of James Walter Cox, Louis Joseph Wozniak, Aileen McCrillis and Samantha Wozniak.
