Becker Jr., 84, passed away Monday, August 16, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born in Tacoma Park, Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late George and Mary Wallace Becker Sr. and husband of the late Dorothy Becker. Mr. Becker was a World War II US Coast Guard veteran and recipient of three Bronze Stars for combat in the Pacific. After graduating from R.P.I. in 1953, Mr. Becker was employed as a mechanical engineer at the Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna for a number of years before retirement. He was a member of the First Church in Albany, Reformed, a life member of the Menands Fire Co. and had the honor of being its oldest member. He was also a member of the Elfin Society. Mr. Becker was an avid outdoorsman and avid sailor. He is survived by three children, Robert Becker and his wife Linn of Hoosick Falls, Diane Byrnes and her husband James of Munda, N.Y. and Linda Heim and her husband William of Delmar; a brother, Wallace Becker of Lake George; and a sister, Blanche Thayer of Richford, Vt.; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Becker was also predeceased by his sister, the late Marion Cook. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at the Tebbutt Funeral Home, 633 Central Ave., Albany. Blendell, 95, died Sunday, August 15, 2004 at the Albany County Nursing Home. Miss Blendell was born in Albany and lived here all her life. She was employed for many years by the Sterling-Winthrop Drug Co. in Rensselaer and was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Angels Church in Albany. Miss Blendell was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria Reinhart Blendell and sister of the late Anna Hillman. She is survived by her dear friends, Mary and Gerald Thibault of Guilderland. Buckley, 80, of Myron Street, died Monday, August 16, 2004 at the Ellis Hospital Long Term Care Center. Mr. Buckley was born in Schenectady and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Buckley was a graduate of the former St. Columba's School and a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1947, where he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He was a communicant of St. Helen's Church in Niskayuna. Mr. Buckley was a long time member of the Schenectady Jewish Community Center, where he loved to swim. Mr. Buckley was a civil engineer for the New York State Department of Health in Albany for 40 years until retiring. Mr. Buckley is survived by six children, Lynn B. Aber and her husband John of Durham, N.H., Laurie B. Longfield of Niskayuna, Lizabeth A. Buckley and her husband David Boyle of Brooklyn, Paul T. Buckley and his wife Kim Lloyd of Moscow, Idaho, Stephen J. Buckley of Brooklyn and Richard C. Buckley of New York City; two brothers, Edward P. Born in Albany, he was the beloved son of Rita (Pratt) Burns and husband for 19 years to Judy K. (Shell) Burns. He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman H. Pratt, Sr. Rich was a graduate of Rensselaer High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Rensselaer Knights of Columbus. He was a loving father and devoted fan of his children's sports teams and active in the Rensselaer Little League and Rensselaer Pop Warner Football. Rich loved music and was an artist at heart. He also enjoyed bike riding, bowling, and talking on his cell phone. Rich was (and always will be) a die-hard fan of the NY Yankees and NY Jets. TROY Thomas G. Connally, 70, of Troy, died on August 16, 2004 at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Thomas M. Connally and Helen Healy Connally and the devoted husband of Patricia Anthony Connally of Troy. Mr. Connally was a graduate of St. Augustine's School and Catholic Central High School (Class of '51) and served in the US Navy from 1952 through 1954 aboard the USS Tarawa. He started his career at the Watervliet Arsenal in the machinist apprentice program and retired in 1988 as a middle manager after 35 years of dedicated service. After retirement, Tom worked for Ken Gowey Dodge in Troy. Mr. Connally served on many boards and committees including the Chairman for the United Way of Northeastern New York Federal Campaign and the Junior Achievement Program and was active with his children in Little League, Drum Corps and many community activities with the late Rev. Al Smith O.S.A. He was an avid golfer and bowled at the Alpha Lanes. Survivors in addition to his wife include four sons, Thomas A. Connally (Susan) of Troy, Kevin M. She was born in Niskayuna, N.Y. to Barbara A. Couch and Gordon Kelsey Crampton. She was a member of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Scotia, N.Y. and Lady MacRae Lodge #212, Daughters of Scotia. She was among the early clients of the Association for Retarded Children and was involved in their mainstreaming program and received her certificate from Junior High School. Moving to Thomaston, Maine with her family in 1984, she was active as an acolyte and member of the Episcopal Church Women at the Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist and a member of the Maine St. Andrew's Society. She was a volunteer at the local Head Start program, participated in the Freedom Riders program and Special Olympics and was acknowledged for having completed a 50-mile walking program at the Coastal Workshop where she was employed. In Savannah, she was a member of and senior acolyte at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, a member of the E.C.W. and the Daughters of the King. She worked at Chatham County Developmental Services where she became interested in weight lifting, which she enjoyed. She is survived by her mother, Barbara; brother, David; sister-in-law, Heather; and two nephews and a niece, Calum, Iain and Meaghan Crampton. She was beloved by all who met her. He worked as a financial manager with the U.S. Postal Service in Colonie and had been employed by the Postal Service for 44 years. She first worked for the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company. She then worked for the former Collette Manufacturing Company. Lastly, she worked for Ward Products Co. before retiring. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. She was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. She was married to William J. Furman on November 27, 1947. He died January 12, 1991. She is survived by one daughter, Geraldine Paulsen and husband Steve, Beaver Creek, Ohio; one son, William J. Gansle, 93, of Hackett Ave. in Colonie, died Monday evening, August 16, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Bernhardt and Barbara Wineg Gansle. Mr. Gansle had worked as a sheet metal worker for New York Central Railroad in West Albany for 27 years. More recently, he had worked for the South Colonie Central School District, retiring in 1976. He was the former vice president of Sheet Metal Workers Local #398. Benny was a social member of the Fuller Road Fire Department. He enjoyed long walks, camping, family vacations and playing cards with his family. He was always there to support his family in all of their endeavors. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ruth Kampfer Gansle. He is the beloved father of Christine Baird of Rochester, Paul B. Gansle (Sandra) of Colonie, Stephen L. Gansle (Marbry), Amy R. Kircher (Harvey), all of Loudonville, and Bernard K. Kraft, 87, of Delmar, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. Born June 6, 1917 in Albany, he was the son of the late Frederick and Margaret Kraft. His wife Harriet, predeceased Frederick in 1977. Frederick graduated from Albany High School and Albany Business College. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. Kraft was employed by Kemper Insurance, retiring in 1980 after 25 years of dedicated service. Frederick was an active member of Temple Commandery No. 2, Knights Templar, Albany. He was a past commander, treasurer and recorder. He was also a member of the Bethlehem Lodge #85, F. & A.M., Delmar. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Albany and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Delmar. He owned and operated Don McFarlin Tree and Landscaping Service. Donnie loved the outdoors and outdoor activities, especially sailing and fishing. He also enjoyed playing basketball and hockey. Pelcher, 77, of Lansingburgh, died peacefully on August 15, 2004 at the Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family and lifelong friend, Rev. Walt Carr of Texas. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Stanley Pelcher and Sophie Malik Pelcher and was the devoted husband of 54 years to the late Trudy Comeau Pelcher who passed away on February 18, 2002. Mr. Pelcher was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1945, and Siena College, Class of 1956. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the 16th Constabulary Squadron stationed in Germany. Mr. Pelcher was a manager for New York State Tax and Finance in Albany and retired after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Catholic High School Alumni Association, Siena College Alumni Association, the Tax Alumni Association and was inducted to the CCHS Athletic Hall of Fame in June of 2001. Mr. Pelcher had formerly served on the mayor's advisory board in Cohoes. She was a longtime resident of Glens Falls and Trout Lake in the town of Bolton Landing and wintered in Coconut Creek, Fla. Leatrice was born in Glens Falls on Nov. 23, 1915. Mrs. Russ graduated from Bolton Central School in 1933. She was a member of Congregations Shaaray Tefila Synagogue of Glens Falls and Congregation Beth Shalom of Coconut Creek, Fla. She served as president and was active in many projects of the Congregation Shaaray Tefila Sisterhood. She was a life member of Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America. She worked as a volunteer for the State of Israel bond fund drive and was a fund raiser for United Jewish Appeal. Mrs. Russ along with her late husband, Arnold, was owner and manager of Twin Pines Resort on Trout Lake, N.Y. from 1956 to 1979. Mrs. Russ volunteered as a docent at the Bolton Landing Historic Society Museum. Leatrice was the devoted wife of the late Arnold Russ. She was also predeceased by her brother, Joseph Saidel.
