Born in Canada, she was the daughter of the late Leopold and Camilia Bouvrette Ladouceur. Anita was a waitress for over 50 years with both the former Branch's Drug Store on South Pearl Street and Basil's Restaurant on State Street. Her husband in 1967, Joseph Burek, predeceased her. She was the dear mother of Mary Celella (Carl) of Defreestville, Joseph W. Burek (Carol) of Benicia, Calif., Suzanne Tymann of Albany and a late infant son, Raymond Burek; grandmother of Carl D., Gregory, Joseph, Darin, Brandon, Deborah, Michele and Christopher; sister of Guy and Philip Ladouceur, Theresa Szkotak, Paul Ladouceur and the late Lucienne Ernye, Raymond and Leo Ladouceur; several nieces and nephews; eight great-grandchildren also survive. Butch, 46, of Timber Ledge, East Greenbush, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Westchester Medical Center, due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on July 16. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Butch was born in Schenectady, he was the son of Patricia Carey Butch and the late Edward C. Butch. He was a graduate of Schenectady public schools, SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Albany with a degree in accounting. He was an associate accountant for the NYS Dept. of Mental Health. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed many memorable trips. He was a special fun loving person who will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Casey, 90, a resident of Barnwell Health Facilities, Valatie, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. Born in Huntington, Long Island, June 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ellen (Dunne) Finnegan. Mrs. Casey was a retired writer and co-owner of Finnegan's Tap Room in Huntington, L.I. After 51 years in Huntington, they moved to Valatie and operated Casey's Inn on Route 9. She graduated from Holy Cross Academy H.S. in Flushing and Fordham University where she earned her B.A. in science. She also attended NYU and Fairfield University. She is survived by two daughters, Maryellen Usis of Albany, N.Y., Patrice (Patsy) Leader of Niverville, N.Y.; two sons, Roger E. Casey Jr. of Auberndale, Fla., John A. Anna leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Alfonso Clark, Duane and Shawn Sims; beloved daughter, Regina Clark; mother, Lena Douglas; two brothers, Nathaniel Douglas Jr., Anthony Holmes; sister, Sharlena Douglas; and one sister-in-law, Mattie. Born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Charles and Maria Garry, he moved to the Helderbergs as a young man when his family bought the farm in East Berne in the 1930's. Harry had many varied talents and interests and was always eager to learn more. Mr. Garry was active in Soil Conservation Programs. He was an original member of the Albany County Farm Bureau, serving as their president for 13 years, and also vice president of the NYS Farm Bureau from 1976 to 1978. In these capacities, Mr. Garry worked with governors and legislators for the good of state farming communities, including changes in the Federal Estate Taxes. He was one of the first farmers to grow certified Empire Birdsfoot Trefoil and he convinced Governor Dewey to push to have this legume planted on the sides of all state roads. Harry was well known as the Singing Farmer and in his earlier days took part in local regular radio and television programs, sharing his homespun philosophy and musical gifts. He was a prolific author and was widely recognized around the state for his articles and commentary. In later years he ran a farm seed and twine business. Harry deeply loved his community and strove to preserve and nurture it's unique and beautiful qualities. He was chairman of numerous committees with the East Berne Businessmen's Association, was instrumental in the continuation of the East Berne Post Office including the establishment of a rural postal route and helped to charter the East Berne Vol. Fire Co. He was responsible for helping to straighten Route # 443 in East Berne and assisted in getting East Berne included in the Capital District telephone system. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Margery Smith. Survivors also include his children; Charles Garry and his wife, Anina LaCour of East Berne, Franklyn Garry and his wife, Ragan Adams and their son, Samuel Garry of Fort Collins, Colorado, Johanna Halsey and her husband, Mark, and their sons, Justin and Trevor, of Red Hook, N.Y., Elizabeth Garry and her partner, Betsy von Mechow, their children, Bonnie and Jacob von Mechow, and Nathaniel Garry, all of South New Berlin, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, David Michael Garry and two brothers, George and Francis Garry. Gisotti, 77, of Guilderland, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Domenic and Mary DePierro Gisotti. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific and European Theatre. Lee was employed with Niagara Mohawk Power Company for 39 years, retiring as a foreman in 1987. Mr. Gisotti was active in Pinebush Little League, Guilderland Pop Warner, Guilderland High School and its booster club. He was always ready to help others and was particularly loved by the youth in his community. He is the beloved husband of 57 years to Dorothy Cioppa Gisotti. He is the devoted father of Dominick Gisotti and his wife Susan of Glenville and Joseph Gisotti and his wife Denise of Delmar. He is the brother of Ann O'Donnell and her husband Edward of Guilderland, Theresa Brent of Roxboro, N.C. and the late Nickolas Gisotti. He is the cherished grandfather of Robert (Kim), Jennifer, Leah and Lt. Karen J. Gisotti, D.O.; great-grandfather of Gianni and Gabriella Gisotti. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hackett, Sister Mary Kevin WATERVLIET Sr. Mary Kevin Hackett, PBVM, 95, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at St. Colman's Presentation Convent in Watervliet. The daughter of Irish immigrants, Sr. Mary Kevin was born in Elizabeth, N.J. on April 23, 1909. She was raised in Jersey City, N.J. where she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Snows Parish. She attended St. Patrick's School and St. Aloysius Academy, both in Jersey City, and later graduated from the Grace Institute, a business college, in New York City. Prior to entering the convent, Sr. Mary Kevin was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City for 24 years. She entered religious life on May 14, 1953 and was received into the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on November 17, 1953. She professed her first vows on November 17, 1955 and made her final profession on November 17, 1958. Sr. Mary Kevin attended the College of St. Rose and received a bachelor of arts degree in education. In September of 1974, she was certified to teach all grades, including nursery school and kindergarten. Throughout her religious life, Sr. Mary Kevin taught in all of the local schools administered to by the Sisters of the Presentation. Sister was the daughter of the late James and Bridget Deignan Hackett and was also predeceased by three brothers. Anna Louise Hamilton, age 90, died July 21, 2004 at the Daytona Beach Rehab Center in Daytona Beach. Louise suffered for nine years with Alzheimer's Disease. Louise had formerly lived in Malden Bridge, N.Y. before moving to Fla. Mrs. Iannone was employed in the garment manufacturing industry and worked in Troy for Weinberg's, Marshall Ray and Standard Manufacturing from where she retired in 1982. She was a proud member of the Green Island Senior Citizens, with whom she enjoyed taking trips, playing bocci, shuffleboard and league bowling. GANSEVOORT Kathleen Rose Pociluk, of Thunder Run, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 after a long struggle with cancer. She was 46. Born July 15, 1958 in Albany, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Ann (Willig) Pociluk. A graduate of Shenendehowa High School, Kathy attended the University of Virginia and earned her bachelor of science degree in special education. She then went on to SUNY Albany and graduated in 1982 with a master of science in educational psychology. Kathy first taught special education in Glens Falls and then in the Plattsburgh area from 1983 to 2000. After moving to Gansevoort in 2000, she became the learning and design manager for Fairpoint Communications. Kathy returned to special education, her passion, from 2001 to the present. She ended her career as the professional development specialist for W.S.W.H.E. BOCES/JMT SETRC. She enjoyed hiking, boating, camping, horse back riding and always had a deep sense of family. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Clifton of Seattle, Wash.; a son, Cory Clifton of Gansevoort; a stepdaughter, Pamela Clifton of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Cynthia Lammon of St. Louis, Mo., Carol Coffey of Boulder, Colo. and Diane Hale of Averill Park; and her devoted life partner, Dr. Ronald Loffredo of Saratoga Springs. Reid, James COLONIE James Reid, 83, of Baker Avenue in Colonie, died in his sleep on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at his home. He was husband of the late Edna Giles Reid. Born in Cohoes, son of the late Robert and Angeline Bellrose Reid, he resided in Green Island from 1945 until 1969 when he moved to Colonie. He was a 1939 graduate of Lansingburgh High School and served his country as a member of the US Navy during World War II. Jim worked as an electrician for many years before becoming the business agent for Local 438 IBEW from 1975 until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Green Island. Survivors include his devoted daughter, Judith (Harry) Jensen of Colonie; his loving granddaughters, Jenna (Mark) Myers of Latham and Erica (Christopher) Kelsey of Loudonville. MAPLECREST, N.Y. Edward F. Sallie of Slater Rd., Maplecrest, died peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital on July 23, 2004. He was the son of the late Thomas and Nora Sallie. Born on September 19, 1911 in New York City, Ed lived more than 30 years in Westbury, N.Y. before moving to Maplecrest. Ed was employed by Lord & Taylor for over 40 years before taking a position with Ski Windham in the lodging department where he worked until March this year. A veteran of World War II, Ed served in the third infantry division and saw combat action in North Africa, Sicily, Anzio and up the boot of Italy into Austria, France and Germany. He was proud of his military service and all of America's Armed Forces. He was the grand marshall of the 2002 Windham Memorial Day Parade. He was married to his beloved Eleanor (nee Nickola) for 49 years. Eleanor predeceased Ed on December 10, 1994. Ed loved animals and was always surrounded by a bevy of dogs and cats. He also loved singing, antiquing and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Esposito and her husband Frank of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Noreen Daly and her husband, Andy of Rutland, Mass.; and a son, Edward Jr. and his wife, Jo Ann of Lynbrook, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren, Andrew Esposito of Redondo Beach, Calif., Kevin Esposito of Myrtle, S.C., Tara Esposito of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Andrew John Daly, Katie Daly, Brigit Daly, all of Worcester, Mass. and Sean Sallie and Michael Sallie of Rockville Centre, N.Y. Siegel, Della Lillian ALBANY Della Lillian Silverman Siegel, age 82, of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany, died Friday morning, July 23, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Mrs. Siegel was born in Utica, N.Y., and later moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. where she married her late husband, Harry G. Siegel. They were married for 43 years until his passing in 2002. While residing in Brooklyn, Mrs. Siegel was an administrative secretary for Brooklyn College. In 1961, she and her husband relocated to Spring Valley, N.Y. She was employed by Rockland Community College from 1966 to 1970. She was a member of Temple Beth El in Spring Valley, N.Y. for many years. As an active member of the temple, she was a member of their choir for more than 20 years. Mrs. Siegel and her late husband Harry participated and were actively involved with the Adult Education Program at Temple Beth El. She had been a resident of the Capital District since 2000, having resided at Alterra Wynwood in Niskayuna. For the last year and a half, she has been a resident of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. She was also a member of Workmen's Circle and Hadassah. She enjoyed the arts and theater. She had a love for music and was well known for her knowledge of trivia in many areas such as movie stars, song titles and authors. She also enjoyed sewing. Most of all, Della's greatest pleasure was her devotion to her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Etta Fink and her husband Steven Fink of Latham, N.Y. She was the proud and cherished grandmother of Jeremy Fink. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Paula Silverman Roth, and a brother, Maxwell Silverman. Slingerland, Josephine D. CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. Josephine D. Slingerland (Peck) died Thursday, July 15, 2004, peacefully at the age of 93 at her home in Crystal River, Fla., where she was the eldest member of a four-generation household of six people. Her bedside was surrounded by all of her loving family living in Fla., including Rosetta Kelley. Daughter of Clara and Sidney Peck, she was born on December 4, 1910 in Coeymans Hollow, N.Y. She is survived by a daughter, Joan S. Roy; seven grandchildren, Sharon (Chuck) Hammond, Alan Roy, Susan (Frank) Virgilio, Hugh Slingerland, Albert Slingerland, Holly (Eddie) Heck; and Ralph (Anne) Becker; twelve great-grandchildren, Shawn Roy, Terah (Austin) Murphy, Tori Heck, Nicole and Samantha Hammond, Kelly, Kaitlin and Hunter Slingerland, Katerina and Jason Virgilio, and Ross and Ryan Becker. She is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Carpenter and Emma Hunt; one brother, Robert Peck; and several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, Clara and Sidney Peck; her husband, Ralph B. Slingerland; two sons, Harmon J. and Albert R. Slingerland; one daughter, Laura S. Goodspeed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Onesquethaw Reformed Church and her cremains will be interred at the Onesquethaw Cemetery directly after. Spillane Sr., of Lincoln Ave., Troy, died peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. Stephen was the son of the late Thomas Spillane and Catherine Connell Spillane. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. He was employed by the United States Post Office at Karner Road, Colonie for 32 years, retiring in 1990. Survivors include his loving wife, Vivian (Dwyer) Spillane; three children, Colleen (William) Ashline of Watervliet, Stephen (Kait) Spillane Jr. of Saratoga Springs and Kathy Spillane of Troy.
