Born in Albany, she was a resident of the Capital Region all of her life. She had worked for Childs Hospital in the laundry department for over 20 years prior to her retiring in 1990. Donna was predeceased by her husband, Gene Bernard; her father, Norton Benson; a son, Stephen Benson; and brother, Robert Benson. ALBANY Norman J. Bowmaker, 87, of Albany, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. He was born in Watervliet and was the son of the late Norman and Margaret Werner Bowmaker. Norman was predeceased in 1992 by his wife, Shirley Green Bowmaker. He was a World War II Army veteran. Norman was employed with Vince Kendrick Jewelers in Albany for many years. He was a life member of Musicians Local 14 in Albany and had attended First Congregational Church. He is the beloved father of Brenda Leslie, Marc Bowmaker (Anne), Mary Schlachter (Kurt), Ruth Dennehey (Michael), Edward Bowmaker and the late Noreen Ten Eyck. Grandfather of Gretchen Vahle (Tim), Karen Moreland (Tim), Michael Ten Eyck (Renita), Laurie Skinner (Ed) and Kim Bowmaker. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren. He is the cherished friend of Vince Kendrick, Angel Feiden and Judi Humphries. DeMoor, Mark S. Marco COLONIE Mark S. Marco DeMoor, 40, passed away suddenly in Suffolk, Va. Born in Patterson, N.J., he was the son of the late Eileen DeMoor. Mark was a union mason, a journeyman and a stone mason. He was a member of the B.A.C. Local #2 in Albany and also the B.A.C. Local #1 in Long Island. Mark was an avid NY Giants fan. He loved good food, camping, amusement parks, traveling, the boardwalk at Seaside Heights, N.J. and tattoos. Mark cherished his children, he was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Mark is survived by his wife Kimberly DeMoor of Colonie; his son, Vincenzo DeMoor of Colonie; his daughter, Madison Burrell of Colonie; and his sister, Robin Smith and her husband P.O. 1st Class Kenneth Smith U.S.N. DeRubertis, 44, of Wynantskill, died June 2, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospice after a long battle with M.S., surrounded by her family. Mrs. DeRubertis was the daughter of Roland Hummel and the late Betty Frie Hummel and the wife of Bart DeRubertis. She was a 1977 graduate of Tamarac High School and graduated from Russell Sage College in the Class of 1981. She was a physical education teacher at St. Mary's School in Waterford and Sacred Heart School in Troy and later had her own home-based daycare. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She is also survived by her brothers, David and Tim, and her sister, Sally, and their families. She enjoyed all 26 of her nieces and nephews. Born in Albany and a life long resident of the Capital District, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Lillie Fox Morris. Mrs. Finn was also predeceased by her husband, James F. Finn in 1987 and then her good friend and companion, John Campbell in 1993. Mrs. Finn was employed by the First Trust Co. Bank in Albany before becoming a homemaker. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time and traveling with her family. Mrs. Finn is survived by her daughter, Virginia Vine and her husband Richard of Charlton, N.Y.; her son, James M. Finn and his wife Eileen of Colonie; two grandchildren, James J. Neumann Jr. of Albany and Michael E. Neumann of Charlotte, N.C.; and one great-granddaughter, Danielle M. Allen of Albany. Flanagan, Elizabeth A. AVERILL PARK Elizabeth A. Betty Heck Flanagan, known to her family and friends as Dolly, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. She was born in Dayton, Ohio and has been a resident of the Capitol District for 43 years. Betty was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and a member of Rosary Altar Society. She was a graduate of Julienne High School in Dayton, Ohio, class of 1944 where she was president and valedictorian of her class. She was co-founder of the Dayton Chapter CYO which still is in existence today. Betty also attended Barry College in Miami Shores, Fla.. for two years. In 1947, she married Richard E. Flanagan Sr., an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. Together they had eight sons and traveled extensively with Mr. Flanagan's FBI career. She was a 2nd place finisher of the Mrs. America Pageant, Niagara Frontier Region in 1960. She was an avid swimmer and member of the Burden Lake Country Club. Betty was also a member of the Burden Lake Improvement Association. She also immensely enjoyed her Tuesday afternoon card get-togethers. Nancy, daughter of the late Henry and Katherine Browne was born October 12, 1928 in New York City. She resided in Huntington, Long Island, Cold Spring Park, Long Island and Winchester, Mass. before moving to Niskayuna in 1967. A graduate of Queens College in 1950, Nancy continued her education of the years with post-graduate work at Columbia, Hofstra, Adelphi and Northeastern University. She worked in engineering for Sperry Gyroscope Corp. on Long Island and was a member of the Engineers Association. Nancy was an editor for the Rosendale newsletter, volunteer at King School and member of the board of directors for Independent Living in Schenectady. Active in local tennis, she organized tennis clinics to raise money for the Independent Living Center. Nancy was predeceased in February by her daughter, Ainslee and in 1955 by her son, Christopher. Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert E. Haffner; her sons, Robert Haffner of Olean and Thomas Haffner of Schenectady; her daughters, Kathryn Conway and husband Michael of Slingerlands, Pamela Randelman and husband Robert of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Jane Lesslauer and husband Kerry of Hopkinton, Mass.; her son-in-law, Christian Johnson of Westboro, Mass.; and her only brother, Harry Browne of Carbondale, Pa.; and nine grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a strong, kind, fun and caring woman, full of perseverance. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Ingraham, Duane MECHANICVILLE Duane Abe Ingraham, 78, of Hemstreet Park, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady after a long illness. Born in Oneonta, March 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Clarence and Bessie Cheeseman Ingraham. He moved to Mechanicville in 1937 and was a 1945 graduate of Mechanicville High School. During World War II, Abe served with the US Marine Corps aviation units in the South Pacific, serving as a gunner. Abe was a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Local 106 of Albany for many years, retiring in 1988. During his career he worked on many state projects such as the Thruway and Northway construction and repair. An active and loyal fireman, Abe was a former fire chief, line officer and secretary for the Hemstreet Park Fire Dept., serving with the dept. for 58 years. He also was a 20 year member for the Town of Schaghticoke Board of Fire Commissioners for the Hemstreet Park Fire District. Abe was a member of the American Legion of Schaghticoke and enjoyed his many years bowling with the Mechanicville Fire Dept. bowling league. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Norma Lucas Ingraham; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ruth Ingraham of Mechanicville; daughters and their husbands, Janice and Ted Collins of Mechanicville, Diane and Tom Quinn of Ballston Lake. Also his grandchildren, Debra and Pamela Ingraham, Keith, Aaron and Bryan Collins and Kelly Quinn; along with his sisters, Betty Lemrow of Mechanicville and Beth Eleanor Crandall of Stillwater; and a number of nieces and nephews. Lundy, 63, of Old Chatham, died suddenly Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, after being stricken at home. Joe was born in Chatham and lived in the Town of Chatham all his life. He was the son of the late Thomas and Florence Lundy. He was a graduate of Chatham High School and a US Navy veteran. Joe was a laborer for Laborers Local #190 for many years until becoming foreman at Kinderhill Farm in Old Chatham. After the farm went out of business, he worked for Schrader Home Interiors for 10 years, retiring this past February. Joe was also a parking lot attendant for the Mooney Funeral Home for 26 years. Joe was a life member of the Tri Village Fire Co. in Old Chatham, a member of the Milk and Honey Club and a Democratic Committeeman for the Town of Chatham. Mackey, JoAnn Manico TROY JoAnn Manico Mackey, 56, of Fogarty Road, Speigletown, died peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2004, at the Community Hospice in Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy on July 3, 1947, she was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Beatrice Salerno Manico of Troy and the devoted wife and best friend of Lawrence C. Mackey Sr. They were married for 35 years. She was a 1966 graduate of Troy High School. Mrs. Mackey worked with her husband and family as secretary for Mackey Electric, Inc. for several years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church. JoAnn enjoyed fishing, spending time in the Adirondacks and traveling with special friends, Mike and Gloria. Mayer of Beacon, formerly of Newburgh and a longtime resident of Albany, N.Y., died June 1, 2004 at Fishkill Health Related Center. Born July 12, 1912 in Schenectady to the late Ignaz and Maria Horak. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Emil Mayer, in January 1977. She was retired from public relations from Capital Newspapers, Albany, and a former volunteer for RSVP, Albany. Mildred was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. McNamara, 85, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Beatrice Shannon Colwell. She retired as an examiner for the New York State Civil Service Department after 30 years of service. She was a 1938 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names and the College of St. Rose, class of 1942. Mary was a member of the Alumni at both schools. She was predeceased by her husband, John S. McNamara, in October of 2000; sister of the late Beatrice Colwell. Several nieces and nephews also survive. SCHENECTADY Lillian J. Wesolowski, 90, of Curry Road Ext., died Monday, May 31, 2004 at her home after being stricken. She was born in Schenectady and was a lifelong resident, graduating from Nott Terrace High School. Lillian was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and was an avid bird watcher. She was a member of the Church of St. Adalbert and its Altar Rosary Society. She was married to her husband of 60 years, Zygmund P. Wesolowski, until his death in February 2000. Her survivors include two sons, Laurence J. Wesolowski and his wife Sharon of Creston, British Columbia, Christopher M. Wesolowski of Newfane, Vt. and his partner Wayne Lindeman; and four grandchildren, Linda Christine, Daniel, Simon and Leah Jane Wesolowski. Lillian was predeceased by two sons, James and Andrew and her sister, Helen White.
