Branick Sr., 91, of Mount Dora, formerly of Altamont, N.Y., died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at a local nursing home. He was born to the late Michael and Mary Goobeck Branick on December 19, 1912. in Binghamton, N.Y. William was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring as a major in 1957. Mr. Branick then worked for 10 years at the General Electric Turbine Division at Schenectady, N.Y. He enjoyed coin collecting and golf and was of the Catholic faith. His two wives, Mildred Nolle Branick and Dorothea Gallagher Branick, and sister, Katherine Addis, preceded him in death. Survivors include his son, William G. Branick Jr. and wife Mary of Hughesville, Md.; daughters, Judith A. Campbell and husband Russell S. of Altamont, N.Y. and Christie Burns and husband Robert of Voorheesville, N.Y.; brothers, Michael Branick and wife Marsha of Ocala, Fla. and George Branick of Walnut Creek, Calif.; sister, Helen Biesecker of Owego, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Russell Campbell and wife Judy, Eric Campbell, David Burns, Captain Kevin Burns (US Army), Regan Burns and David Branick; great-grandchildren, Jane Campbell, Ben Campbell, Emilianne Campbell, Hunter Campbell, Serra Lynn Campbell and Connor Burns. Schumann Bubie, 85, of Plank Road, died suddenly Thursday, June 3, 2004 at her residence. Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late John H. Schumann and the late Ada (Radz) Schumann and wife of the late Walter J. Bubie. She had resided in Brooklyn as a child, then Wynantskill and the past 75 years in Poestenkill. She frequented Lake George for many years and was a graduate of Troy High School. Mrs. Bubie was employed as a secretary for Capital Mutual Insurance in Averill Park for several years, retiring 10 years ago. She was an active member of the Poestenkill Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society, and a member of GOOFS (Girls Organization of Fun and Service) at the Church of the Covenant in Averill Park, Poestenkill Historical Society and the board of elections in Poestenkill. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Lytwyn (Michael) of East Hanover, N.J. and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Henry Schumann. Chillemi, 84, formerly of Albany, died Friday, June 4, 2004 at Diamond Ridge Retirement Home where he resided. Born December 12, 1919 in Albany, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and Rosa Gullo Chillemi. He was also predeceased by his stepmother, Maria Chillemi. Mr. Chillemi worked as a chef/manager for the former LoPresti's Restaurant in Albany for many years until it closed. He then was a brewery worker for the former Scheaffer Brewery until it closed. He retired in 1986 from Rusch Distributors as a beer salesman. Mr. Chillemi played the saxophone in his band, The Tony Chillemi Orchestra. He was a member of the Albany Elks BPOE No. 49 and a communicant of St. James Church. He married Gloria Macri Chillemi on May 31, 1943 in Albany. She died in December 1984. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Angeline LoPresti and Ann Lofrumento, and two brothers, Thomas Chillemi and Salvatore Chillemi. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Benedetti and her husband, Dewey, of Queensbury; a son, Anthony P. Chillemi of Albany; a sister, Mary Forbes of Albany; grandchildren, Paul Benedetti and his wife, Marilu, of Albany and Michael and James Benedetti, both of Glens Falls; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Benedetti. He is also survived by his dear friend, Michael Sabol, who was like a son to him; and several nieces and nephews. Homer was born November 18, 1943 in Schenectady, a son of Margaret Colucci Clark and the late Homer Herbert Clark, Sr. He was educated in Schenectady schools and was a 1962 graduate of Linton High School. Following high school, Homer attended Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration. He was employed by the State of New York as a research analyst. Survivors in addition to his mother, Margaret include a loving brother, Chalmers C. Clark and his fiancee Nancy Fama of New York City. Clough Sr., 76, of Albany, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2004 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Frederick and Hazel Norton Clough. Mr. Clough was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country from 1950 through 1952. Bill was employed with Price Chopper, retiring in 1971. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #8692. Mr. Clough was an avid N.Y. Yankees baseball fan. He enjoyed doing puzzles and reading. Bill is the beloved husband of 48 years to Leona R. Humphrey Clough. He is the devoted father of Nancy Robilotto and her husband, Michael, of Delanson, William Clough Jr. of Guilderland, Craig Clough and his wife, Diane, of Schenectady, Frederick Clough of Guilderland and Michael Clough and his wife, Dawn, of Colonie. He is the brother of Mae Brady, Gloria Bartlett and Shirley Clough. Duda, 56, of Delta Blvd., Cohoes, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, embraced by his loving family. Born in Ingolstadt, Germany, he was the beloved son of Genowefa Podkowa Duda of Cohoes and the late John Duda. Michael came to the area in 1951 and graduated from the former Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes and attended SUNY Albany. He worked in Green Island at the Ford Motor Company in the radiator line until his disability in 1975. He was a Vietnam veteran, proudly serving in the United States Army. Michael was the recipient of the Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star. He was a member of the E.P.V.A. and a communicant of St. Michael's Parish in Cohoes. Besides his mother, Michael is survived by his loving daughter, Jessica Duda of Loudonville; his sister, Helen (William) Holmes of Davenport, Fla.; his brothers, Richard M. (Gerilyn) Duda of Malta, John J. (Carol) of Latham and Stanley P. (Kortney) of Troy. He was uncle to Melissa Why, Jennifer Scott, Justin P., John A. and Karley Duda. Johnson, 51, a local musician and singer, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Salisbury, Md. on September 14, 1952, he was the son of the late Wilbur Benson Johnson and Daisey Cecelia (Hardy) Johnson. He attended Prince Street Elementary School and Wicomaco Senior High School in Salisbury, Md. He started his music career working with various bands doing road shows. He then was a backup singer for the famous Motown girl group, the Shirelles. He later moved to the Albany area and sung and played with Dick Spass and the Coachmen. Most recently, he was Roger's One Man Band playing the Lake George area. He performed at many benefits for children and would play at various nursing homes during the Christmas season. He enjoyed traveling and fishing and playing his guitar. He is the beloved companion of Lynn M. Pafundi of Troy; brother of John Benson (Dawn) Johnson and Ruby (Ralph) Riggins, both of Salisbury, Md. and Audrey Brumbley of Delaware; son-in-law of Anthony and Tina Pafundi of Watervliet; brother-in-law of Toni Pafundi of Latham and Sharon (Chip) Felock of Grafton. She was born 56 years ago in Taunton, Mass., the daughter of Jennie V. (Stadnicki) Gajdasz and the late Joseph M. Gajdasz. She was educated in Taunton and received her registered nurse's degree from the Children's Hospital School of Nursing, Boston, and both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Boston University. Prior to her illness, she had been employed as a triage nurse for Fallon Healthcare in Leominster for three years. For the majority of her career, Mrs. Keim was employed as a clinical instructor in Obstetrics and Pediatrics for several institutions in both Mass. and N.Y. She also taught Lamaze classes and founded the Caesarean Childbirth Support Group in Albany, N.Y. She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park, N.Y. and was a former communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Taunton, Mass. In addition to her husband of Boxboro and mother of Taunton, she leaves one daughter, Christina J. Keim of Madbury, N.H.; one sister, Louise A. Cote of Taunton; several nieces and nephews. Messick Luby. Born in Troy, Gene was a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed with Cluett Peabody for 37 years. Marks, 74, Deltona, Fla., formerly of the Capital District, died Thursday June 3, 2004 at Ellis Hospital after a brief Illness. He was born in Brooklyn and was the son of the late Sydney and Rose Simon Marks. Bernie served in the US Navy during the Korean War as electrician on the USS Salisbury. He was employed with Niagara Mohawk Company for 35 years. He was a district manager and eventually sales and marketing manager before retiring in 1987. His career with Niagara Mohawk in Albany and Amsterdam led him to many civic activities and accomplishments. Bernie was an accomplished woodcarver. He was the president of the Deltona Woodcarvers in Fla. Bernie enjoyed boating, gardening, fishing, cooking, camping and flying. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Virginia (Lois) Smith Marks. He is the devoted father of Carol Rockenstire, Elaine Marks, Bernice Williams, David Toftegaard, Richard Toftegaard and Lori Sicko. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. McKinney was born in Seville, Ga., the son of the late Carlton Douglas McKinney and Dora Sanders McKinney. Raised in Fla., he spent most of his life in northern N.J. where he worked as a chef. After retiring and moving to Guilderland in 1980, Mr. McKinney ran the Congregate Dining and Meals-on-Wheels programs for the Cohoes Multi-purpose Senior Service Center in Cohoes. He retired a second time at age 80. Mr. McKinney served as a ruling elder at Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church in Guilderland. Mr. McKinney was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Murphy McKinney. He is also predeceased by his siblings, Jerry, Ernest and Buford McKinney, Essie Sangster and Frances Kaiser. He is survived by two sons, Patrick McKinney and his wife Yoshiko of Colonie, Peter McKinney and his wife Ann of Guilderland; four grandchildren, Bryan McKinney and his wife Joy of North Charleston, S.C., Christopher McKinney and his wife Dawn of Asheville, N.C., Cara Victor and her husband Jeff of West Sand Lake and Erin McKinney and her partner Luis Estevez of Ellsworth, Maine. Mr. McKinney's final years were brightened immensely by the arrival of his two great-granddaughters, Skylah Jane McKinney of Asheville, N.C. and Kathryn Diana Victor of West Sand Lake. Mickalonis, John MECHANICVILLE John Mickalonis, 81, of Ocala, Fla. and former native and many year resident of Riverside, died Saturday, April 24 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. Born in Riverside, January 16, 1923, he was the son of the late George and Anna Mickalonis, and brother of the late Joseph, Dominick, George, Bernard, Anthony Mickalonis and sisters, Mary Anusesky and Rose Pozniakas. John retired as the extrusion superintendent for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co. of Watervliet. After retirement, John served as an international consultant for several manufacturing companies worldwide. John moved to Florida from Latham in 1989. In Ocala, he was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer, hiker, fisherman and gardener. During World War II, he served with the US Army Air Corps. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ann Kaiser Mickalonis of Ocala; sons, Michael George Mickalonis of Augusta, Ga., John Ignatius Mickalonis of North Augusta, S.C. and George David Mickalonis of Alexandria, Va.; daughters Maureen Mickalonis of Newport, Mich., Mary Fitzpatrick of Kelso, Wash. and Veronica Mulvihill of Medfield, Mass.; and a sister, Victoria Stoliaroff of Stillwater, six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Nash, Joan Ann TROY Joan Ann Nash, 71, of Marshland Court, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. Mooney and Anna Ryan Mooney and the devoted wife of Ambrose L. Nash. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2004. She was a 1951 graduate of Catholic Central High School and a 1954 graduate of St. Peter's School of Nursing in Albany. Mrs. Nash was a registered nurse in the oncology department at St. Mary's Hospital. Previously, she was the head nurse in the emergency room and surgical recovery at Samaritan Hospital for several years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church and a former longtime member of St. Peter's Church in Troy. Prediger, Virginia Fedyk GREEN ISLAND Virginia Fedyk Prediger, 79, of George Street, Green Island, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in Cohoes, daughter of the late Peter and Blanche Fedyk, she has resided in Green Island for 60 years. A homemaker, she had been employed many years ago by New York Telephone. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Green Island. Survivors include her devoted husband, Lawrence J. Prediger Jr.; a son, John Jay Prediger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Sheila M. Prediger of Latham; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Kevin Prediger, and her siblings, Emma Rapp, Joan Doyle, John Fedyk and Nicholas Fedyk. Starkweather, Dorothy DELMAR Dorothy Shattuck Starkweather, age 82, died June 2, 2004 in Warwick, R.I. She was the daughter of James Scott Shattuck and Dorothy Cressy Wilbur Shattuck. Born June 30, 1921, Mrs. Starkweather graduated from the Milne School and the Mildred Elley School in Albany. After marriage to Edward A. Starkweather, she worked for the Alameda (Calif.) Housing Authority and the N.Y. State College for Teachers in Albany. She was divorced in 1969. After raising three daughters, she returned to the State University of N.Y. as administrative assistant in the academic program. She was a member of the D.A.R. and of both St. Stephens and St. Andrews's Episcopal Church in Albany. A longtime resident of Delmar, Mrs. Starkweather moved to Rhode Island in 1992. In addition to her daughters, Cressy S. Spence of Baltimore, Md., Susan Starkweather of East Greenwich, R.I. and Sydney Nelson of Rye, N.Y., she is survived by a brother, James Shattuck of Crystal River, Fla. and eight grandchildren.
