A. Albert Agan, 92, died Sunday morning, June 13, 2004 at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Gallipaux Albert. Mrs. Agan was employed by the Haggaman Bakery, the Blue Ribbon Potato Chip Factory, the South Colonie School lunch program and for 15 years she and her husband were caretakers for the Dexter, Barnaby and Cross Orthopedic Office. Mary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Albany. She was predeceased by her siblings, Edward, Frederick and John Albert, Sophia Randall and Anne VanDenburgh. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Edward M. Agan, Sr.; her loving children, Carol L. Hanley and her husband, Robert, Edward M. Agan, Jr. and his wife, Judy; devoted grandmother of Lisa M. (David) Tymchyn, Erin L. (David) Nuzzi, Jennifer B. Hanley, Scott E. (Amy) Agan and Joelle M. (Kevin) Brady; great-grandmother of Samantha A. Tymchyn, Daniel R. and Joseph P. Nuzzi, Ashley L., Zackery S. and Eric C. Agan, Colin D. and Chelsie M. CLIFTON PARK Thomas A Alheim Sr., 44, of Clifton Park died suddenly on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Tom was born in Albany and is the beloved son of Mrs. Victor Brush and the late Arthur J. Alheim Jr. He was currently working as a steam fireman with the Albany County Nursing Home for the past 19 years. He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and granddaughter. He is the husband of Wendy Alheim. Tom is the cherished father of Heather Wilkinson, Thomas A. Alheim Jr. and Shane Alheim. He is the devoted brother of Donna McCormick and her husband Dennis and Cheryl Lee and her husband Jeff, all of Greenville. Baker, 60, died on Monday, June 14, 2004 at his daughter's residence in Canaan surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he was the son of Ivan Baker of Nassau and the late Florence Mildred Rendo Baker. Leonard lived most of his life in the Castleton, N.Y. area before moving to St. Augustine, Fla. in 1991. In his early years, he was a driver for Staats Express and Red Star Express. Later he owned and operated the 9 & 20 Gulf Service Station. He also worked as a cook at various restaurants prior to moving to Fla. In Fla., he worked at Lyons Machine Shop as a machine operator. He was an active member at Grace Bible Chapel where he was appreciated for his positive attitude as well as his keen and quick wit. His faith was expressed through serving the homeless and being a mentor in the local AA program. Chisholm of Wood Park, died on Friday, June 11, 2004 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. Mary taught in the Hoosick schools for over 35 years, having first started as the teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. Cofrancesco, Wayne DELANSON Wayne Cofrancesco, 57, died Monday, June 14, 2004 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late Anthony and Alice Tacanelli Cofrancesco. He had lived most of his life in the Capital District and served his country during the Vietnam War in the Air Force. He was an avid saxophone player, performing in numerous bands at many local clubs. MECHANICVILLE Stephen J. (KN2I) Comorski, 67, of Chestnut Street, Mechanicville, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Westchester County Medical Center Hospital in Valhalla, N.Y. as the result of an industrial accident in Malta. Born in Mechanicville, July 22, 1936. Son of the late Stephen D. and Anna Coblish Comorski. Husband of Barbara L. Wanko, whom he married February 14, 2004 at his home in Mechanicville. Mr. Comorski was a lifelong machinist, having worked for the Watervliet Arsenal, various subcontractors, the Department of Defense and most recently with the Wright-Malta Corp. in Malta. Steve was an avid ham radio operator and was proud to have been a local patch operator, having helped servicemen contact their families during Operation Desert Storm. A member of the former Riverside Fire Department and a member of the Arvin Hart Fire Department. He was a polka music fan and he also enjoyed sport fishing. Survivors in addition to his wife, Barbara of Mechanicville, include three sons, Daniel J. Comorski of Omaha, Neb., David J. (Pamela) Comorski of Colonie, N.Y. and Christopher J. She was a resident of Delmar, N.Y. prior to moving to Anchorage, Alaska 14 years ago. She had earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in Hotel and Restaurant Administration in 1997. She was currently the executive director for the Alaska Dance Theater Group. She had also been the Director for the Chamber of Commerce in Seward, Alaska. Her passion was the arts, both music and dance. She enjoyed being close to nature, enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and the mountains. She was very close to her family. She is survived by her parents, Winston and Regina Greer of Ridgefield, Wash., formerly of Delmar, N.Y.; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Fearghal McCarthy of Vancouver, Wash.; brother, Kevin W. McGirr, Eamonn Joseph LOUDONVILLE Eamonn Joseph McGirr, age 63, entered into eternal life Monday, June 14, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Derry, Northern Ireland, he lived in the Albany area the last 22 years. He owned and operated Eamonn's on Menand Road in Loudonville where his beautiful Irish tenor's voice entertained his many customers. He was a communicant of the Church of St. Pius X. Son of the late Edward and Gretta Kerr McGirr. He will be deeply missed by his devoted family, Mary, Mareena, Peter, Mary, Rose, James and Cathal. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mlodzianowski, Susan SCHENECTADY Susan Mlodzianowski died at home Saturday, June 12, 2004 after a long battle with breast cancer. Susan was a lifelong resident of Schenectady's Stockade. Susan was born in Schenectady in January of 1957. She is the daughter of Van Shanklin and the late Kathleen Cox Shanklin. Susan graduated from the Schenectady City Schools in 1975 and went on to earn a B.S. in nursing from Niagara University, class of 1978. Susan's nursing career took her to North Carolina, after graduation where she worked in labor and delivery at Duke Medical Center. She then moved to Lock Haven, Pa., with her husband Paul Mlodzianowski and was a floor nurse at Lock Haven Hospital. Upon moving back to Schenectady in 1982, she was a public health nurse for the City of Schenectady. Susan then became a Supervisor of the Public Health Nurses for the county of Albany's Health Department. Susan then moved her career to Bellevue Women's Hospital in Niskayuna, where she worked as a labor and delivery nurse. Susan then moved on to MVP Health Plan as a Supervisor of Case Managers, where she came in contact with the most supportive and compassionate group of people her family could ever hope for. Susan was active in many community activities. She opened her family home for the Stockade Association Walkabout, was on the committee for the Stockade Walkabout, volunteered her time at the Schenectady Schools and was an active member of the Schenectady Soccer Club and a big supporter of the Schenectady High School program. Her love for soccer was apparent in her vocal support of the high school team and her hard work with the Schenectady Soccer Club. Susan is survived by her husband of 24 years, Paul Mlodzianowski; two beautiful sons, Jason Mlodzianowski and Joshua Mlodzianowski, her father Van Shanklin and his wife Mary Kelly Shanklin of Glenville; sister of Elliot W. NISKAYUNA Virginia Davis Newton, a resident of Alterra Clare Bridge in Niskayuna, died on Monday evening, June 14, 2004 at the Glendale Nursing Home following a long illness. She was born in Boise, Idaho on August 3, 1918 and was the daughter of George and Daisy (Young) Davis. She received her education in the local schools and holds a bachelor's degree from Tufts University. For several years, she was employed as a social worker at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago. She married Donald Newton in Port-A-Prince, Trinidad on November 5, 1941. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage before Mr. Newton died in 2002. While residing in the Chicago area, she had been very active in her community as a volunteer for the Field Museum of Natural History, the North Shore Association for Retarded Citizens, the Sheridan Shore Yacht Club and the League of Women Voters. Her interests included playing bridge and scrabble. She enjoyed listening to music, traveling and reading. Mrs. Newton is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Joyce Newton of Niskayuna, N.Y.; her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Haspray of Montgomery Center, Vt.; her daughter and companion, Margaret Newton and David Nurney of Seattle, Wash.; and her daughter, Betty Jean Newton of Rolling Meadows, Ill. Mrs. Newton has seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. There is one sister, Elizabeth Syrus of Gardner, Maine. Mrs. Newton is predeceased by two brothers, George and Robert Davis. Funeral services for Mrs. Newton will be held on Friday morning, June 18, at the E. P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street in Bennington at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend David Bauscher officiating. Interment will take place privately in Maine. Nilsen, 65, of Lyons Lake Road, died Friday, June 11, 2004 at Springside Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Mass. Mrs. Nilsen was the daughter of the late Lee and Mary Miller Carey and the loving wife of Norman R. Nilsen Sr. Mrs. Nilsen grew up in Chatham, N.Y. and graduated from Chatham High School. Mrs. Nilsen moved to Nassau in 1964. She was a homemaker and for a time, secretary to Bob Whitney, Town Supervisor. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church where she was a choir member, the Festival of Praise Choir, a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation, being a direct descendant of a Civil War soldier. She had many hobbies and interests including Civil War history, genealogy, music, sewing and lots of travel. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Nilsen is survived by her son, Norman R. Nilsen Jr. of Nassau; two daughters, Leigh C. Nilsen of Pittsfield, Mass. and Lynn Gleason of Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Ruth Landry and Doreen McGivern, both of Pittsfield, Mass. Mrs. Nilsen is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Nilsen was the foster mother of Alirio Castaneda of Columbia, South America. Born in Bay Shore, N.Y., he was the beloved son of Richard P. Ritter of Seldon, N.Y. and Justine Koller Ritter of Livingston, N.Y. He had worked at Uno's Restaurant in Latham for the past ten years as a chef. Fondly known as Bubba to those close to him, he was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. Schworm, John W. SCHENECTADY John W. Schworm, 82, of Deforest Avenue died Monday, June 14, 2004 at St. Clare's Hospital. Born in Delanson, N.Y., John was the son of the late Willis and Hazel (Townsend) Schworm. A Navy veteran of World War II, John worked for the General Electric Company for over 41 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the G.E. 1/4 Century, the American Legion, Fisher United Methodist Church and a former member of the Mohawk Valley Hiking Club. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Thelma (Countermine) Schworm; two children, Mark W. Schworm and wife Donna of Rotterdam and Sharon E. Born in Seward, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Marie Southworth. Anna was a veteran in the U.S. Army, serving her country in Japan. Anna worked as a registered nurse at the Stratton VA Medical Center, retiring ten years ago. She was also a longtime member of the Women of the Moose. After retiring, she volunteered her time at the VA Hospital and also gave her time to numerous charitable organizations. Anna was a loving, caring person who will be dearly missed by many. She is predeceased by her two sons, Michael and Nathaniel Smith, and her sister, Melba Southworth. Anna is survived by her daughter, Deborah Noble and her husband Charles of Ala.; four grandchildren, Celeste, Johan, Amy and Tiffany; her adopted granddaughter, Eula; and her three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kimberly and Cody. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Carr of Richmondville; her two brothers, Richard Southworth and his wife Deanna of Cobleskill and Harold Southworth and his wife Jackie of Worcester; and her companion of 28 years, Gale Graham. He recently retired from 32 years of service with the Capital District Transit Authority, and was a long-time member of Local 1321. Chic was also a member and past-President of the Burden Lake Improvement Association. Chic is survived by his loving siblings, Lawrence (Betsy) Smith, Connie (Ernie) Burkart and Nancy (Mike) Fresina, all of Averill Park. Zeke Zickas Jr., 55, of Albany, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2004. He was the son of Mary M. (Vink) Zickas and the late Frank J. Zickas Sr. He was predeceased by his father in 1981. Frank was born on September 22, 1948 in Albany where he resided all of his life. He leaves to mourn, his loving and constant companion, Jean M. Rosenthal Biance, who was also his devoted caregiver in his entire courageous battle with cancer. Frank graduated from St. Patrick's Elementary School and from Cardinal McCloskey High School in 1966. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967, where he served for four years before being honorably discharged in 1971. Frank then worked as a clerk at the US Post Office on Karner Road for 32 years before retiring in October of 2003 because of his health. He was an avid bowler and loved to go fishing. He was an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees, the New York Giants and the Boston Celtics. Survivors in addition to his mother and Jean, he is survived by his son, Frank J. Zickas III and his wife Carol; his daughter, Genet M. Zickas and her fiance Tony Paonessa; the mother of his children, Elizabeth Beth M. Hague Zickas; his grandson, Frank Henry Zickas; his granddaughter, Victoria Catherine Zickas, all of Albany; his aunt, Clara C. Rendine; his uncle, Douglas J. Vink and his wife Ann; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Betty Zanello Hague; many many cousins and friends and his best friend, Larry Norton. He was loving Uncle Zeke to Jean's children, Tina M. Biance, Chris A. Biance and Jean's grandson Michael D. Ferris.
