LOUDONVILLE Robert V. Baldwin passed away Friday, October 8, 2004 at Albany Memorial Hospital at age 85. Bob/Buddy lived in Albany and Rensselaer in his early years and in Loudonville for the past 56 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene Fish Baldwin. He was a World War II Army veteran and participated in the second wave assault on Omaha Beach, Normandy. Mr. Baldwin worked as a folding machine operator at Williams Press for over 30 years and as a custodian at the Colonie Town Hall for 10 years. Bob was a very devoted husband and father and loved animals. He leaves two daughters, Shari (Paul) Niedbalec and Ginnie (Stephen) Moore; two grandchildren, Michaela and Stephen Moore. He was predeceased by his sisters, Charlene Williams and Joan Mara; and a brother, Bill Rochford. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews including Robert Williams, Maren Jacobs, George Williams, Karen Brown, Cheryl Farthing, Valerie Abarca, Joseph Mara, Joan Navedo, Katherine LaVigne, Xavier (Corky) Mara, Charlene Frode-Hansen, Carol Brazinski, Joyce Martucci, Susan Peters and Carol Quatrocci. Also adopted family, Andrew Dziadosz and his family, and Peter, Helena and Isabella Cowan. Special friends include Evelyn Lewis, Charles and Thaisa Beach, Marie Griffen, Sister Catherine Kelly, Edna Davis and Bob (his mailman). Clermont, Dorothy WATERVLIET Dorothy Perreault Clermont, 79, of Watervliet, died Saturday, October 9, 2004 surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in Cohoes, daughter of the late Raymond and Anna Mae Dyer Perreault, she resided in Green Island for many years before moving to Watervliet 20 years ago. A homemaker, Mrs. Clermont was a communicant of St. Brigid's Church in Watervliet, a former communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Green Island, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Watervliet Elks, the Watervliet Senior Citizens and a former member of the St. Joseph's School Mothers Club. Survivors include her beloved husband of 58 years, Alfred J. Clermont; her devoted children, Christine (George) Cline of Niskayuna, Kevin (Diane) Clermont of Watervliet and Renee (Fred) Lass of Altamont; six cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Costigan was the husband of Elizabeth Betty Costigan until her death in March of this year. He was a 1943 graduate of C.B.A., where he graduated a Lt. He was on their rifle team where he earned a marksmanship certificate. He attended Furman University in Greenville, S.C. He was a 2nd Lt. in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a navigator on the B-24's. Mr. Costigan had worked for Keegan Truck Lines and Penn Freight Lines. He had worked for many years for Fruehauf Trailers in Albany. In 1965, he was commander and chairman of the Board of the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post #1040 American Legion, where he was instrumental in the construction and dedication of their new Post. He is survived by three sons, Edward Ned (Ann Marie) Costigan of Glenmont, Brian (Anne Schnieder) Costigan of Slingerlands and Chris (Mary) Costigan of Silver Springs, Md.; grandfather of Melissa, Matthew, Sean, Teresa and Mackenzie Costigan; several nieces and nephews. Born and educated in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Hynek Pabis. She had lived in Albany since the 1930's. Mrs. Czwakiel retired in 1975 from the former New York Telephone Company after 20 years of service and remained active with the Telephone Pioneers after her retirement. She was a longtime communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Mrs. Czwakiel enjoyed cooking for her family and feeding the birds and squirrels in her back yard. Wife of the late Martin J. Czwakiel; mother of Barbara, Martin, Ronald (Lynda) and Thomas Czwakiel; sister of Josephine Strozik, Phyllis Burton and the late Theodore Pabis, Marion Czech, Frances Ott and Stanley Pabis. WATERFORD Eli A. Desautels, 99, of Grace Street, died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Millview Adult Home. Born in Waterford he was son of the late Xavier and Delia Charron Desautels. He was educated at the former St. Bernard's and Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes and graduated in 1924. Eli was employed for 40 years at General Electric in Schenectady as a draftsman, retiring in 1969. He was a communicant of the former St. Anne's Church in Waterford and a member of the Men's Club at the church. He was an avid golfer after his retirement, and was an ice skater and baseball player in his youth. His wife, the late Mildred Hayes Desautels, died in 2002. Survivors include his children, Joan Gross and her husband Robert of Bel Air, Md., Mary Jura of Troy, Dolores Long and her husband Edward of Wynantskill, and John Desautels and his wife Carol of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Philip J. Mr. Doyle was born in Schenectady to the late Robert and Geraldine Fitzgerald Doyle. He lived in this area all of his life. He graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in sociology. Mr. Doyle was a deputy director for examiners with the New York State Legislative Bill Drafting Commission in Albany. He had been employed by the state for 30 years. Mr. Doyle is survived by three sisters, Leslie D. Casey and Bridget Denofio, both of Niskayuna and Barbara Parlapiano of Stephentown; one brother, Terence F. Doyle of Schenectady; his beloved friend Jill Lecakes of Colonie; several nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Forezzi, Pearl Ruth Albany Pearl Ruth (Reinhardt) Forezzi, 84, entered into eternal rest with the Lord her Savior, Saturday October 9, 2004. Pearl was born on December 24, 1919 in Albany, one of nine children to the late Jacob and Lena (Helena Horwedel) Reinhardt. She lived in Albany all of her life as homemaker, devoted wife and mother. Pearl was the beloved wife of 64 years to Tony Forezzi who passed away August 7, 2003. She was also predeceased by a brother John Reinhardt and three sisters, Kathleen (Kate) Niles, Marie Albert and Joan Vrooman. Pearl held positions at Sterling-Winthrop in Rensselaer, Topps Dept. in Menands, Behr-Manning Plant, Babbit Co. and Fuller Brush Company. She retired from Solomon & Solomon Law Firm of Albany in 1978. Pearl was a communicant of St. John's-St. Ann's Church. She enjoyed life, kicking up her heels and loved being with family and friends whenever possible. She loved her family with a passion. Pearl's other passion was traveling with her daughters, whether one day trips or longer. Carol (afraid of flying) took her mother on several autumn bus trips to Montreal. She traveled with her daughter Lyn to many places, including the islands of Oahu, Maui and Kauai in Hawaii, St. Martin, W.I. They took yearly foliage trips to Vermont with Lyn and her best friend the late Diane Riverin, who Pearl loved fondly as a daughter. Pearl and Tony always enjoyed their many trips to Atlantic City with their friends Pasquale (Patsy) and Yolanda Mastriano. Eleven years ago, to Pearl's delight, Patsy and Yolanda convinced Tony at age 77 to take his first plane trip to Las Vegas. In the 60s, Pearl enjoyed her Sunday afternoon bowling league, The Roaring 20s with Tony, family and friends and their Friday night league, The Gaiety Girls, also with family and friends. Pearl is survived by her loving and caring daughters, Carol Forezzi and Linda (Lyn) Forezzi; her granddaughter, Lori Henrikson; and her great-grandson Anthony Tyler Ormsby. She is also survived by her sisters, Mrs. Andy (Edna Honey) Vincent, Mrs. Ernie (Marion Peppy) Schafer and Mrs. Martha (Margie) Brandt. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and her neighbors and caring friends, Veronica (Ronnie) and Joe Fischer and Eleanor and Marty Morrisey. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. We can remember Pearl for her kindness to others, her strength that was always there for anyone in need. Hanley, Mary Rose LATHAM Mary Rose Grobecker Hanley, 91, of Latham, died Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Our Lady of Hope Residence, Latham, N.Y., surrounded by her loving family, faithful Little Sisters of the Poor and caring staff. She was born August 20, 1913 in Lansingburgh, N.Y. and moved to Raymond Street, Latham in 1924. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew Phillip Francis Grobecker and Mary Rose Foley, by her brothers, Francis Borgia and Andrew Cyril, her sister, Agnes Anne Buchanan, her loving husband Eugene Thomas Hanley and her dearly missed daughter Patricia Anne Hanley Capuano. She was a graduate of Latham School '28, Cohoes High School '32, and New York State College for Teachers at Albany '36. In September 1936, she started her teaching career at St. Bernard's School, Cohoes then Heatly High, Green Island. Over the years of raising her children she substituted in Cohoes and North Colonie schools. In 1963, she taught full time in Vincentian Institute Elementary School. Of all her teaching career, she loved V.I. the best and retired from V.I. in 1978. In her retirement, she was active in helping people through volunteer service in Literacy Volunteers of America, Catholic Charities Parent Aide, Eucharistic Minister, Religious Education Teacher and librarian at St. Ambrose, Bingo at Keveny Memorial Academy, and Legion of Mary. At Our Lady of Hope, Ma was librarian to their book collection and brought current events to the residents. Mary Rose is cherished by her children, Mary Ellen of Watervliet, Joseph Eugene (Andrea) of Loudonville, Margaret Agnes (Michael) Sweeney, Thomas Andrew (Mary Jane) of Latham, John Michael (Jane) of Clifton Park, Maureen Marian Hanley Ehmann of Mount Morris, N.Y. and Christopher Joseph (Lynn) Hanley of Valley Falls, N.Y.; and also survived by 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mary Rose was a born historian and made respect for learning essential in our lives. Her constant concern for others and humility in her faith was a source of hope and love for all her family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late George Dippold and the late Anna (Krause) Dippold and wife of the late Donald C. Hastings. She was raised in Latham and had resided in Daytona Beach, Florida for six years, West Sand Lake from 1951-96, Castleton for four years and in East Greenbush since 2000. She was a graduate of Troy High School. Mrs. Hastings many years ago worked at the Credit Bureau in Troy. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Slattery (Stuart) of Nassau and Dianne Levering (Lee) of Lecanto, Fla.; four grandchildren, Susan Slattery of Hinsdale, Mass., Scott Slattery of West Sand Lake, Mark Anderson of Atlanta, Ga. and Jennifer Wing of Davie, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Micayla and Macenzie Slattery; and several nieces and nephews. Hornby, Nancy SCHENECTADY Nancy Hotchkiss Hornby, 74, of Frank Street, died suddenly Tuesday evening, October 5, 2004 in Ludlow, Mass. Nancy was returning to Schenectady after enjoying two special weeks with her son in Maine. She was traveling on the Mass. Turnpike when her car was rear ended by a drunk driver, who was traveling in excess of 90 mph. Nancy was born in Schenectady on April 24, 1930, daughter of the late Dr. Ralph James and Phoebe Messmer Hotchkiss. She was educated in Schenectady schools and was a 1948 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School. After high school, Nancy attended Russell Sage College in Troy. She received a degree in business administration from Schenectady County Community College in 1971. She was a sales representative for Avon Cosmetics for over 51 years and a long standing member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her husband, Peter Charles Hornby of Schenectady, whom she married on June 18, 1949; a loving son, Peter Roger Hornby of Ocean Park, Maine, Avon, N.C. and Mankato, Minn. Nancy was predeceased by her son, Sam Hotchkiss Hornby; her parents, Dr. Ralph and Phoebe Hotchkiss; and her brother, Samuel Hotchkiss. She was active in many organizations throughout the 70s and 80s such as Parents Against Drugs, the Capital District Psychiatric Center, HEW, South End Beautification Committee and several area food pantries. She also enjoyed her membership in the Royal Patroon Poppies Chapter of the Red Hat Society and was an avid Yankee fan. Dedicating her life to her family, Mrs. Hymes was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Herbert Hymes; her mother, Mrs. Martha Anthony; her children, Wayne H. Hymes, Vallisa M. Pompey of Half Moon and Zina M. Hymes; her grandchildren, Alina S. Hymes and Xavier W. Hymes and their mother, Arlene Gonzalez-Hymes. She is also survived by her nieces, Angela, Karen, Pamela and Ge Ge Anthony, Jacqueline Horne and Kimberly (Christopher) Hall; her dear cousins, Caroline Snead and Anna Mae Foster; and her Goddaughter, Abbie Costello. Later in life, she converted to Full Gospel (non-denominational) after becoming a member of New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church where she attended until her death. He worked with his brother John in the Pollard Brothers Oil Business and later worked as a salesman for Heavy Duty Trunk Parts, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the the Altamont Fire Department for over 58 years, the Boyd Hilton VFW Post, the Altamont Rescue Squad and was a Little League coach in Altamont for 30 years.
