Barton, Gerard T. FAIRFAX, Va. Gerard T. Bartone, 51, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. Born and raised in Queens, the son of Gerard C. Bartone and the late Catherine Rafferty Bartone, Jerry moved to Guilderland in 1987 and recently relocated to Virginia. He worked as an operations manager for AT&T for 25 years retiring in 1998. Most recently he worked as a vice president of BIZNESS Online in Albany. He chaired the Reach Out for Youth campaign for the Capital District YMCA in 1995 and was also involved in helping to solidify the hockey program at Christian Brothers Academy. He was one of the founders of INCOMPCO located in Guilderland and was an active member of his local parish. Jerry was a devoted, loving father and friend and will be greatly missed by his children and all those who knew him. In addition to his father, he is survived by his children, Christopher J. Bartone of Springfield, Mass., Scott M. Bartone of Guilderland, Katie M. Bartone of Guilderland; and their mother, Kathy Bartone of Guilderland; a sister, Margaret A. Carter, 71, of Marengo Street, died Tuesday evening, October 12, 2004 with his family at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Joe was born in Schenectady on October 30, 1932, the son of the late Joseph Carter and Evelyn Pacelli Carter Fontaine. He graduated from the former Nott Terrace High School, class of 1951. Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, having attained the rank of PFC. He was employed for many years as a food broker for several area brokers. In 1972, Joe founded JAC Enterprise in Rotterdam, the first gift and novelty wholesaler in the area, retiring in 1998 after 26 years in business. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Joe will be remembered for his love of cooking, listening to Italian music and as an avid NY Yankees fan! He is survived by his children, Caroline and her husband Mark Sherman of Schenectady, Evelyn and her husband Dirk Doucette of Escondido, Calif., Joseph A. Betty was a trained infant nurse, having graduated from the former Brady Maternity Hospital in Albany. She also had been employed there for a number of years. She was a member of the American Legion Post #1520 Auxiliary and a former member of the Elks Lodge Auxiliary in Whitehall. Louise was an extremely talented seamstress and enjoyed making coats, dresses and other apparel for her daughters and grandchildren. She liked to dance, laugh and loved to have fun. She had a great zest for life and truly loved her family deeply. She will be greatly missed by her loving family as well as her many close friends. Louise is the beloved mother of Judith A. Esther's two greatest loves were her Lord and her music. She loved to compose music and poems for special events. She will be remembered for her kindness and the courage she demonstrated during her illness. Ernest ALBANY The Rev. Ernest W. Hamilton entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Community Hospice Inn in Albany after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer. Born on February 8, 1927 in Houston, Miss., he was the son, and youngest of six children, of Ludie Gordon and Zack Harper Hamilton. The Rev. Hamilton was the beloved husband for 58 years of Edna L. Hamilton. He was a loving father, brilliant mentor and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the pastor of Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church in Glens Falls for 32 years. The Rev. Hamilton was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. He retired from Altech Steel in Watervliet. Survivors include his wife, Edna L. Hamilton of Albany; his children, Lionel W. Hamilton of Albany and Minister William Lynn Hamilton and his wife Nicole of Albany; his goddaughter, Laura Edwards; his godson, John Boxley of Albany; three grandchildren, Casera Sparks of Power Springs, Ga., Noelle and Jocelynn Hamilton, both of Albany. O'Connor, Timothy Nicholas VOORHEESVILLE Timothy Nicholas O'Connor, 52, died suddenly Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John J. and Elizabeth Gaspary O'Connor. Tim was the dear husband of Barbara Devine O'Connor and the cherished father of Laura, Jack and Kellie O'Connor. He was the dear brother of Patricia Holmes (Theodore) of Niskayuna, Lisa Corbitt (Chuck) of Albany and the late John J. O'Connor Jr.; son-in-law of the late John F. and Margaret Devine; brother-in-law of Linda Griffin and John R. Devine (Kelly), all of Md.; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was a director and stockholder of Marvin & Company, PC of Latham and currently president of the Northeast Chapter of New York State Society of CPA's. Timothy was awarded a BS degree in business administration from Bentley College in 1975. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, secretary and board member of the New York State Society of CPA's, a past board member of Albany Country Club and board chair of the Albany City Athletic Club. He was a past board member of the Center for the Disabled and Hope House Inc. He was a past board member of the Albany Medical Center Foundation and past chairman of the Annual Golf Tournament for the Children's Hospital at the Albany Medical Center. Tim was a member of the Albany Stueben Club and Albany Country Club. His golfing pards will surely and sorely miss him on the golf course and in the 19th hole. Pagano, 62, of Madonna Lake Road, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany after a brief illness. Raised in East Brunswick, N.J., he was the son of the late Salvatore Pagano and the late Irene (Evans) Pagano and husband for 18 years of Betty Dykstra. He had resided in the East Brunswick area until 2000 and was a graduate of South River High School in N.J. Mr. Pagano was a communications consultant and owner of Sage Business Systems in Edison, N.J. for many years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Northeast Woodworkers Association and the Adirondack Woodturners Association and a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he received his technical training in communications. Reilly, 79, of Western Parkway died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at St. Clare's Hospital. Mr. Reilly was born in Schenectady to the late Thomas and Harriett Martin Reilly. He was a lifelong city resident. Mr. Reilly was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a police officer for the city of Schenectady for 22 years, retiring in 1971 as a detective sergeant. From 1953 until 1987 he was the director of safety and security for St. Clare's Hospital. Mr. Reilly was a communicant of Sacred Heart-St. Columba's Church in Schenectady. He was a member and former trustee of the Retired Schenectady PBA. Mr. Reilly was predeceased by his wife, Rose Mary Justin Reilly, she died in 2002. He is survived by two sons, Jack Reilly of Scotia and James M. Reilly of Snellville, Ga.; one daughter, Lynn Reilly Brown of Schenectady; one brother, Thomas Reilly of Schenectady; two sisters, Sister Marguerite Reilly, SJS of Troy and Elizabeth Reilly of Schenectady; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bessie Butler Sussman, age 90, of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the nursing home. Mrs. Sussman was born in Albany and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed by the Albany County Department of Aging as well as the Albany County DWI Program. She had also been employed by the former Marine Midland Bank. Mrs. Sussman was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and a former member of its sisterhood. She was an avid reader and enjoyed educational television shows. She is survived by her two sons, Glenn D. Sussman of Albany and Stephen A. Sussman of Goleta, Calif. She also leaves a sister, Shirley Stowell of Albany and a brother, Jack Butler also of Albany. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Walker Jr., Skip, age 50, of Colonie, died on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Ellis Hospital. He was born on April 30, 1954 in Albany, N.Y. He was the beloved son of Joan Gardner Walker Couture and the late Frederick A. Walker Sr. He is survived by his stepfather, Albert E. Couture Sr. He was predeceased by his sister, Wendy Walker Creazzo. He is also survived by an aunt, Shirley Gardner Weston of Jacksonville, N.C.; an uncle, Howard Gardner of Winter Haven, Fla; and several cousins. He was the stepbrother of Albert E. Couture Jr., Connie Shakow, Sandy LePage, Richard Couture, Bruce Couture, Kevin Couture and Christopher Couture. Also survived by his brother-in-law, Danny Creazzo and his former wife, Nancy Gray Walker. Skip was blessed to have many dear friends, most of whom were friends from childhood. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for the past 24 years. He was lead guitarist and vocalist for several local bands and loved music. Skip requested that his body be donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical Center. Therefore, there will be no funeral services. A memorial service will be held in the future. Born in Indian Fields, Coeymans on March 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Anna Buthosky Zolko. Elsie was a graduate of the former Ravena High School. She moved to New York City in 1943 and worked as a secretary for many years. She also did missionary work in South America. Elsie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Christian Businesswomen's Association and the Republican Club, all in New York City. She returned to South Bethlehem in 1993 and attended South Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Elsie is survived by five sisters, Anna Zolko of Glenmont, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Parker of Nekoosa, Wis., Mrs. William (Agnes) Doberstein of Chapel Hill, N.C., Harriet Zolko of South Bethlehem and Mrs. John F. (Joan) Joslin Jr. of Voorheesville; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her siblings, John, Andrew, Mary Ann, Alfred and Rosemary Zolko, predeceased her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Caswell Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bethlehem.
