B. VOORHEESVILLE David A. B. Ballagh, 68, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. David was born in Pontiac, Mich., the son of the late Rev. Walter C. Ballagh and Ida Dyer Ballagh. He was transferred to this area in 1977, working as a supervisor for Conrail in Selkirk. He retired in 1994 and later worked as a hall monitor for Guilderland High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo and served as a pastor of hospital visitation. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia G. Ballagh; four sons, John Lawrence of N.Y., Christopher (Karen) Lawrence of S.C., Noel (Joe) Lawrence of N.H. and Dan (Adri) Ballagh of Fla.; two daughters, Cindy (Jorge) Monterde and Sandra (Tony) Fiorino, both of Fla.; three sisters, Millie (Bruce) Benson, Evelyn (Edward) Kolbe and Norma (Ronald) Ludy, all of Mich. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo. Gerard T. Bartone, 51, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. Born and raised in Queens, the son of Gerard C. Bartone and the late Catherine Rafferty Bartone, Jerry moved to Guilderland in 1987 and recently relocated to Virginia. He worked as an operations manager for AT&T for 25 years retiring in 1998. Most recently he worked as a vice president of BIZNESS Online in Albany. He chaired the Reach Out for Youth campaign for the Capital District YMCA in 1995 and was also involved in helping to solidify the hockey program at Christian Brothers Academy. He was one of the founders of INCOMPCO located in Guilderland and was an active member of his local parish. Jerry was a devoted, loving father and friend and will be greatly missed by his children and all those who knew him. In addition to his father, he is survived by his children, Christopher J. Bartone of Springfield, Mass., Scott M. Bartone of Guilderland, Katie M. Bartone of Guilderland; and their mother, Kathy Bartone of Guilderland; a sister, Margaret A. Flicker Feuz, 82, of Feuz Terrace, Esperance, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at home after an extended illness. Born on the family farm in the Town of Duanesburg on January 29, 1922, he was the son of the late Albert Hans Feuz and Cora Smith Feuz. Ed, known as Flicker to most everyone, attended Mariaville Central and Draper High Schools, and enlisted in the SeaBees division of the Navy, serving from 1942-1945, where he attended Naval Diesel School, attaining the rank of petty officer 2nd class gunners mate. He served in the Aleutian Islands, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa as a heavy equipment operator and high-explosives demolition man. During the 1950s, he became the first promoter of Fonda Speedway, sanctioning NASCAR during his tenure, and he was proud of his association with NASCAR's founder, Bill France Sr. Ed established Feuz Construction and operated his business for many productive years. Ed was a life member of the Delanson VFW #2303 and the Schoharie American Legion Post #1261, member of the George Landis Arboretum, honorary member of the Esperance Fire Department, charter member of the Esperance Historical Society and, in earlier years, a former Esperance town councilman and chairman of the town's planning commission. He was a Schoharie County Republican committeeman and member of the county's executive board for many years. He also served as president of the Esperance Cemetery Association for several years. Throughout his years as a member of the Esperance-Sloansville United Methodist Church, Ed served as a trustee, finance committee man and building committee man. He and his wife designed, funded and built the annex added to the main sanctuary in 1996, which the church trustees named the Feuz Annex. Ed was also instrumental in the creation and construction of the parsonage and education building. Survivors include his wife of nearly 62 years, Ramona Rockwell Feuz; daughter, Linda Gale and her husband Robert Young; son, Kirtland Dean and his wife Linda; his four grandsons, Gregory Young and wife Jennifer and Eric Young, all of Esperance, SPC Jeremy Feuz currently stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. and Wesley Feuz of DeRuyter, NY. He is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Young; his sisters, Alma Easton of Vero Lake Estates, Fla. and Regina Hartmann of Tucson, Ariz.; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Edwards of Esperance and Tucson, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, Monte (Maria) Feuz, Brent (Heather) Feuz, Cindy (Ken) Mitchell, Brian (Dee-Dee) Hartmann, Kevin Hartmann, Dianne (Chuck) Hoff, Karen (Tom) Dane, Sylvia (Charles) LaPorte and Mary Terpening. Hamilton entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Community Hospice Inn in Albany after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer. Born on February 8, 1927 in Houston, Miss., he was the son, and youngest of six children, of Ludie Gordon and Zack Harper Hamilton. The Rev. Hamilton was the beloved husband for 58 years of Edna L. Hamilton. He was a loving father, brilliant mentor and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the pastor of Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church in Glens Falls for 32 years. The Rev. Hamilton was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. He retired from Altech Steel in Watervliet. Stegemeier, Richard SARATOGA SPRINGS Richard Stegemeier, 69, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at home surrounded by his loved ones following a short illness. Born on November 22, 1934 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late William and Martha Stegemeier. Mr. Stegemeier was a graduate of Babylon High School, L.I., N.Y. and a veteran of the U.S. Army. For many years, Mr. Stegemeier was the owner of R & S Transport in Clifton Park, N.Y. and, for the past several years, he was the vice president of Senior Solutions Worldwide, Inc. Mr. Stegemeier was predeceased by a brother, Robert Stegemeier. He is survived by his loving companion of 12 years, Janet Howells of Saratoga Springs. He is also survived by a brother, William Stegemeier of Washington DC; a daughter, Jeanene Hamaker and her husband Larry of Raleigh, N.C., a step-daughter, Janet Faraone and her husband Nicholas of Glen Allen, Va.; and grandchildren, Rachel, Nicholas, Emily and Olivia. COLONIE Victor G. Stevenson, 93, of Herman St., died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the Albany Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home. Born in Montreal, Canada, Victor had lived in Daytona Beach, Fla. before moving back to the Albany area two years ago. He had been employed for 40 years as a printer at Clarity Publishing in Albany. Victor was the husband of the late Estelle Despre Stevenson; father of Joan (Jim) Walsh of Colonie; grandfather of Colleen (Bruce) Fleshman of Pittstown, Kathleen (Gary) Peek of Duanesburg, Michael Walsh of Colonie, Joanne (Gary) Vroman of Glenmont and Jim (Renee) Walsh Jr. of Ballston Spa. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. (Joe) Tremblay, age 69, of Rt. 9H of Valatie, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 after a long illness at the VA Medical Center. Born in Montpelier, Vt., he was a resident of the Capital Region all of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and worked as a shop foreman for Armory Garage for over 30 years before retiring in 1992. He then became a bus driver for Ichabod Crane schools and most recently was an installer for Life Line at the Eddy in Troy. Joe was the beloved husband of the late Ann Marie (Hulsopple) Tremblay; devoted father of Denise A. (Jim) Kinney of Schodack, Patrise M. (Jan) Schroeder of Latham, Joanne (Stephan) Kannes of West Sand Lake, Thomas J. (LeeAnn) Tremblay of Chatham, and Michael R. (Kimberly) Tremblay of Maine; brother of Mary Jane Woods, Joseph (Lefty), Adelard (Lite) and Rene (Ray) Tremblay. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Walker Jr., Skip, age 50, of Colonie, died on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Ellis Hospital. He was born on April 30, 1954 in Albany, N.Y. He was the beloved son of Joan Gardner Walker Couture and the late Frederick A. Walker Sr. He is survived by his stepfather, Albert E. Couture Sr. He was predeceased by his sister, Wendy Walker Creazzo. He is also survived by an aunt, Shirley Gardner Weston of Jacksonville, N.C.; an uncle, Howard Gardner of Winter Haven, Fla; and several cousins. He was the stepbrother of Albert E. Couture Jr., Connie Shakow, Sandy LePage, Richard Couture, Bruce Couture, Kevin Couture and Christopher Couture. Also survived by his brother-in-law, Danny Creazzo and his former wife, Nancy Gray Walker. Skip was blessed to have many dear friends, most of whom were friends from childhood. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for the past 24 years. He was lead guitarist and vocalist for several local bands and loved music. Skip requested that his body be donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical Center. Therefore, there will be no funeral services. A memorial service will be held in the future. Wehnau, 77, of Weatherwax Road, died on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany after a long illness. Born in Sand Lake, he was the son of the late Madison and Myra Holdridge Wehnau and husband of the late Ruth Clarke Wehnau. Paul had attended the Averill Park Schools prior to entering the Navy in 1944 and was discharged in 1946 with a rank of ships cook 3rd class. Paul was proud to receive in 2002, along with other area veterans, his high school diploma. Paul had resided in Wynantskill from 1948-1974 when he and his family moved to Poestenkill. He was the owner and operator of Paul Wehnau Well Drilling in Poestenkill for many years and was known for the many wells he had drilled in the area. Paul was a life member and past president of the Empire State Well Drillers Assoc., the National Groundwater Assoc., the Poestenkill Businessmen's Assoc., the Wynantskill American Legion Post, a life member of the Sullivan Jones VFW Post in Poestenkill, a member of the Farm Bureau and a life member of the Wynantskill Fire Department. Paul enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling and dining out. Survivors include his children, Bonnie (Paul) Bernstein of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., Peter Wehnau of Poestenkill, Paul L. Wehnau Jr. of Averill Park and Diane Wehnau of Tully, N.Y.; his brothers, Duane Wehnau of West Sand Lake, Walter Wehnau of Defreestville, Ralph Doc Wehnau of Mesa, Ariz. and Norman Wehnau of Moorestown, N.J.; a sister, Dora Wehnau of West Sand Lake; and his grandchildren, Paul Jason, Sarah Lynn, Spencer Alan and Elsbeth J.
