Born August 13, 1915 in Ravena, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Delanso and Cora (VanLeuven) Rowe and the widow of Kenneth Bogardus who predeceased her in 1998. She resided in Coxsackie for 70 years. She was proud of her family and enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and playing the organ. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Shirley and son-in-law, Robert Lazar of Delmar; grandchildren, Karen Travis (James) of Delmar, Lynne Goodridge (Charles) of Saratoga Springs and Gwenn Lazar of Albany; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Grant Travis and Gracelyn and Owen Goodridge; and nephew, Thomas Tracey (Patricia). Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Vera Mae Tracey and Mildred Faber and brother, Harold Rowe. Stanley Alexander Booke, age 80, of Boca Raton, died Friday, September 3, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Booke was born in Long Island and resided for many years in Lynbrook, N.Y. and later moved to Lido Beach, Long Island, N.Y. He retired to Fla. several years ago. He had been employed as a sales representative for Woolrich Woolen Mills in NYC and was the head of the N.Y. office. Stanley will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita Spiegelman Booke. Jez, 46, of Union Street, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 in Baystate Medical Center as a result of a car accident. Carl was born in Westfield where he was a lifelong resident. He attended Holy Trinity School, was a 1976 graduate of Westfield High School and a communicant of Holy Trinity Church. He attended Springfield Technical Community College and received his associate degree in electro-mechanical engineering in 1978. Carl worked at Digital Equipment Corp. and Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. For the past 21 years, he owned and operated Brookside Automotive Inc. on Union Street. Carl was an avid muscle car enthusiast and in July had the honor to meet the automotive industry's greatest legend, Carroll Shelby. Carl also enjoyed moving mountains with his plethora of heavy operating equipment. Carl was a devoted husband and father. He leaves his wife of 14 years, Mary D. (Riccitelli) Jez; his three children, Danielle E. Jez, 11, Alex P. Jez, 10, and Lucas C. Jez, 7. They will forever cherish their Wednesday outings together, their one-on-one trips to Fla., family vacations on Cape Cod and riding dirt bikes. Carl's mustache and his love and inspiration will stay in their hearts forever. In addition to his wife and children, Carl leaves his parents, Stanley M. and Veronica B. Mr. Kolodzinski was employed as a painter, union representative and shop steward for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for 40 years. He was a former manager and member of the board of directors of Rensselaer Little League and was safety director for District 14 Little League. He was a former volunteer for the Rensselaer Ambulance and was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. John's Church in Rensselaer. McQuide, 85, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 2, 2004 in the Hospice Inn of St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Mary Alice Bonesteel McQuide for 62 years. George was the son of the late Robert L. and Katherine Jackson McQuide. Born in Troy, George was a captain of the Troy Fire Department for 34 years before retiring in 1981. He also worked part-time at the A&P Supermarket in Wynantskill for 20 years. George had served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Along with his wife, he was an avid square dancer and enjoyed traveling in their motor home. During Mrs. O'Brien's life, she was employed by the New York State Department of Education, Hudson Valley Community College and LaSalle Institute of Troy, while raising a family. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle in Wynantskill. She was a literacy volunteer with a love of reading and a member of the Thursday Morning Club. Rogers, Robert A. RAVENA Robert A. Rogers, died Monday, August 30, 2004 at Albany Medical Center after a courageous battle with heart disease and kidney failure. He is survived by his wife Mary whom he married March 21, 1986; sons, Samuel Patrick Rogers of Ravena and Matthew Cahn of Albany. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Rogers and nephew, Alan Rogers, both of Albany. Bob was born to Edwin and Helen Whitbeck Rogers in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He attended Saratoga schools before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He served overseas as an aerial photographer during the Korean War and stateside as a ground safety specialist. After the service, Bob attended the former Albany State Teachers College while working as an Albany city firefighter. After graduation, he worked in advertising and sales for many years until finding his life's work, career counseling. Bob worked in this capacity for both the city and county of Albany before founding Sage Associates and later Resumes Plus, both in Albany. He was a pioneer in the job club movement, starting many groups throughout the Capital District. He was the author of two books on job search, Secrets of the Hidden Job Market and The New Mosaic: Job Clubs. He helped many people and was especially proud of his work with people living at the margins. He was a passionate advocate for the least, the last and the lost. Bob became a father late in life and was accompanied everywhere by his pride and joy, Samuel Patrick. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, where he worked in economic and social justice ministries. He was a representative to the Capital Area Council of Churches and was active in interfaith activities for many years. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved old movies, Frank Sinatra and cherry pie. Bob's family is grateful for the skilled and compassionate care he received from many community providers these last years and from the staff at Albany Medical Center during his final illness. Valentine, Carol NISKAYUNA Carol Valentine, 63, of Valencia Road, Niskayuna, died Saturday, August 28, 2004, after a two and one-half year courageous battle with acute leukemia. She was born September 14, 1940 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late William and Vivian MacTiernan, last of Phoenix Avenue, Schenectady. Carol previously resided on the upper west side in New York City. Mrs. Valentine attended Prospect Heights High School, Brooklyn, N.Y. She received a B.A. from Duke University and a M.A. from Columbia University. Carol was a teacher with the U.S. Peace Corps, Roslyn Public Schools, Schenectady County Planned Parenthood and NYS Department of Health. She was a health administrator-director of WIC for the NYS Department of Health. Carol was a current member and past president of the First Unitarian Society of Schenectady. She was also a past member of the First Unitarian Society of Albany and of the All Souls Unitarian Congregation in New York City. Carol spent much of her life in service to others, both in her employment and to her family. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a creative force; for art she produced, for the places she designed and for the people she helped shape and nurture. To all of her pursuits, she brought the light of her laugh and the light of her wisdom and insight, making the lives of so many people, particularly women and children, better and stronger. She is survived by her husband Carl, whom she married April 1, 1961 in Hamburg, N.Y.; her four children, Laurae, Cate, Kristen and Glen; six grandchildren, Lance, Collin, Jeremy, Will, Sofia and Cooper; her brother, William MacTiernan and her sister, Janis Hoffman.
