Mr. Coogan was employed as a police detective for the City of Rensselaer, working for the police department for almost 30 years. Eggleston Sr. 91, died Saturday, September 11, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital. He had been a resident of Ann Lee Home. Born in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Reuben and Margaret Eggleston. He was a U.S. Army veteran. William retired from Bleecker Stadium in Albany where he was a custodian. He was a former driver for Railway Express and fireman for the D&H Railroad. He was predeceased by his wife, Delta Mayo Eggleston in October of 1986. He was the father of William H. Born January 23, 1929 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Mary Fiore. Mr. Fiore was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls, Class of 1946, and Siena College, Class of 1961. He was in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He lived in Halfmoon for the past 40 years, working at the Watervliet Arsenal as a management analyst, retiring in 1988 after 26 years of service. He loved camping, traveling, gardening and golf. Survived by his wife, Ann G. Fiore of Halfmoon; three sons, Vincent A. Fiore of the Bronx, Paul A. Fiore of North Troy and Matthew J. Fiore of Halfmoon; two daughters, Mary C. Swift Frinks, 67, died suddenly Saturday, September 11, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital with her family at her side. Marilyn was born in Albany and lived in the area all her life except for two years when she lived in Frederick, Md. Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Ronald Michael Frinks; her children Andrew Michael (Lisa) Frinks of Pittsfield, Mass., Sharon Elizabeth (Thomas) Chiarella of Redwood City, Calif. and Donna Ann (Leah) Frinks of Selkirk; her brother, William Raymond (Miriam) Swift of Glenmont; her sister-in-law, Norma Swift of Colonie; her grandchildren, Sydney Teresa and Collin Andrew Frinks, and Isabel Liv and Jenna Marie Chiarella. She was the beloved aunt to 26 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Eugene Swift and niece, Linda Swift. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, friend and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She was an avid reader, enjoyed the beach especially Cape Cod, loved to bowl and never missed a chance to play cards or a scratch-off lottery ticket. Though she never traveled by airplane before the age of 50, she made up for lost time with trips to the Bahamas, St. Maarten, the Canadian Rockies, Hawaii, Alaska, California and the Southwest Canyon lands. Marilyn had a great sense of humor and was quick with an entertaining story, especially ghost stories for her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her wonderful lasagna, apple pie and Thanksgiving turkey. Christmas was important to her and she spoiled her family with presents - each year topping the last. She also faithfully remembered birthdays including those of all of her nieces and nephews. She was employed by the New York Telephone Co. in Albany, the Army East Coast Relay Station in Frederick, Md. and by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association in Delmar where for 23 years she was the administrative assistant to Executive Director, Dr. Sandy Scott. She was a member and secretary of the Hudson Valley Community College Women's Club and a member and recording secretary for the Fort Orange Chapter #1593 of the AARP. She had a strong faith in God and was a communicant for many years of St. Teresa of Avila Church in Albany, and most recently of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar. Thomas, died peacefully at home Thursday, September 9, 2004 after a courageous battle against cancer. He was a proud father known as Jack to his children and friends, and Papa to his grandchildren, Hannah Grace Cohen, Sarah Elizabeth Cohen, Mackenzi Helen Beisler, Patrick Aidan Gaffney, Anthony John Lanotte, Lauren Alexis Lanotte, Jack Guerin Smith and Ashley Elizabeth Smith. A longtime resident of Albany, N.Y., Mr. Gaffney was born to Patrick and Grace McConnell Gaffney in the Bronx on July 10, 1932. He grew up in Hyde Park. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 and received the National Defense Service Medal for service during the Korean War. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history at Siena College in Loudonville. Jack worked as a social worker, a claims adjuster and negotiator before retiring in 2002. He coached little league and Babe Ruth baseball. He ran Friday Night Basketball at Westmere Elementary for many years. He coached CYO basketball as well. He made sure kids from every background had a chance to play. His hobbies were sports, his family and his dogs. He was a friend to all those he came to know. He quietly touched the lives of many. Jack loved politics and made many friends in the community. His warmth, energy, compassion and ability to connect with people made him a leader. He empowered his children to learn, teach, nurture and make significant contributions to the world in the areas of finance, the environment, law, social services, and education. He had only just begun to make his mark on his grandchildren, who were blessed to have such a remarkable role model. He taught them the importance of family, faith and good will toward others. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Patrick. He is survived by his brother George R. Gaffney (Frances); and his nephews, Peter and Kevin; and niece, Sharon (Jennifer); his brother-in-law, Edward Lee Ritter; nephew, Joseph Ritter (Nancy); Anne's children, Linda Thomas and Elizabeth Kiose and her family. Brother Peter James Goodman, C.S.C., a long time resident at St. Joseph Center in Valatie, died September 10, 2004 at Dujarie House, the infirmary of the Brothers of Holy Cross at Notre Dame, Indiana. The deceased was 79 years old. Peter James Goodman was born on August 7, 1925, the youngest of six children of Edward and Matilda (Gonya) Goodman of Oak Harbor, Ohio. His early years were spent in his home town and he was educated in the local public schools, graduating from Salem-Oak Harbor High School in June, 1943. For the next five years he worked on his father's farm. Brother Peter entered the Congregation of Holy Cross as a candidate for the Brotherhood on June 1, 1947 at Sacred Heart Juniorate, Watertown, Wis. He received the habit on August 15, 1947 at St. Joseph Novitiate, Rolling Prairie, Ind. He made his temporary profession of vows on August 16, 1948 and made perpetual profession on August 16, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame, Ind. Brother Peter attended the University of Notre Dame and was granted a bachelor of arts degree in June, 1954. He received his master of arts in Theology from St. Michael's College in Winooski, Vt. in 1968. Brother Peter began his active ministry as a teacher at Vincentian Institute in Albany. He spent most of his career in the formation program at St. Joseph Center in Valatie. In later years, he taught Sacred Scripture at Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass. In 1994, Brother Peter retired to St. Joseph Center in Valatie. Due to failing health, he was transferred to Dujarie House in 2003. He is survived by his brother, Paul Goodman; his sister, Leona Darooge; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Goodman; his sisters, Marie Twynham and Genevera Goodman. Hickey Sr., passed away Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Albany Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Before retirement, he was employed by Sinclair and Valentine Printing for a number of years. Mr. Hickey was a family oriented man who enjoyed cooking, working in his vegetable garden and around his home. He was an avid dog lover and will be remembered for his sense of humor. She was born in Washington, D.C. and was the daughter of the late Francis K. and Margaret E. Taylor. Mrs. Plaske was a Colonie resident for most of her life. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names and a communicant of St. Clare's Church. Mary is the beloved wife of 49 years to Stephen D. Plaske. She is the devoted mother of Susan O'Neill and her husband Bill of Kentucky, Donna Relyea and her husband Bill of Scotia, Kenneth Plaske and his wife Susan of Colonie and Michael Plaske and his wife Shelley of Colonie. She is the sister of Frances Taylor of Schenectady. She lived in Rome until April 7, 1947 when she married her husband and moved to the Albany area where she has lived for 57 years. Eileen retired in the early 1980s from the NYS Teachers Retirement System after working for 20 years with handicapped children at B.O.C.E.S. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, she was born March 16, 1911, daughter of the late Pasquale and Maria Verno Iacobelli. Mrs. Santagato worked for over 25 years at the former Troy District Shirt factory, and later for the former Galante Paper Mill in Mechanicville. A former member of the Italian Fraternal Society Ladies Aux., she was a member of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville and enjoyed baking, walking and visiting her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Santagato who died in 1993, and a grandson, Michael Pratt in 1994. He had been employed as a plumber for many years for M. Kramer and Sons Inc. in Albany. He was also a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #7 for more than 65 years. He was a member of the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany, Albany City Lodge #540 Knights of Pythias and the Washington Masonic Lodge #85 F&AM in Albany. While residing in Albany, Mr. Sovitsky attended Congregation Ohav Sholom in Albany. He was married to Fay Sovitsky until her passing. He is survived by his son, Mel Sovitsky and his wife Rosalie of Albany and his daughter, Beverly Pruzan of Houston, Texas; grandfather of Scott Pruzan (Dori), Elyse Parchmont and Marci Sovitsky. Mr. Stanco was born in Schenectady, N.Y. to Consiglia Famigletti Stanco and Joseph Stanco. He attended local schools and graduated from Union College, Schenectady in 1941. Mr. Stanco was a private contractor and wrote specifications for the architects office of New York State. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a meteorologist and attained the rank of captain. He was a member of the Halifax River Yacht Club, Ormond Beach Moose Lodge #1263, the V.F.W. Post #3282, Port Orange, Union College Alumni Association and St. Brendan Roman Catholic Church.
