REXFORD James H. Bogue, 31, of Garnsey Road, and former resident of Schaghticoke, died Monday evening, September 13, 2004 at Ellis Hospital, after being stricken on Sunday evening. Born in Okinawa, Japan, November 28, 1972, he was the son of Eiko Makabe Bogue of Schaghticoke and the late U.S. Army SFC William F. Bogue, who died this past March. He was a 1990 graduate of Hoosic Valley Central School, 1992 graduate of Paul Smith's College and a 1994 graduate of Slippery Rock University, with a degree in parks and recreation management. Jim worked as a landscape design specialist for Howard Landscape and Watergardens of Valley Falls, throughout the Capital District for the past four years. An outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, Jim also loved the game of soccer, playing and coaching for the Latham Circle Soccer Club and had been a junior varsity soccer coach for the North Colonie School Dist. for several years. Jim was an avid, diehard New York Yankee fan. Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife Danielle Fish Bogue, whom he married August 4, 2001; also two cherished toddling twin sons, David James and Jackson Daniel Bogue; his brother, William J. Bogue of Latham; his in-laws, Edgar and Sally Fish; along with a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends and lifelong buddies. A graveside burial service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Memory's Garden, Colonie. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Published in the Albany Times Union on 9/15/2004. Brown, Anne deRamus NISKAYUNA Anne deRamus Brown of Niskayuna, N.Y., passed away on Friday, September 10, 2004 at the age of 81. Born in Montgomery, Ala. on May 6, 1925 to the late Dr. James and Elizabeth deRamus, she was raised in Chicago, Ill. Ms. Brown received her B.A. and M.A. in music from Northwestern University in Evansville, Ill. and she later studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York and Fontainebleau Conservatory in France. She also received a M.A. in psychology from the teachers college at Columbia University in NYC. As a concert pianist, she performed nationally and internationally and her accomplishments include playing at Town Hall in NYC and being one of three Americans at the time to receive the Geneva Award at the International Music Competition in Switzerland. She was a psychologist for 21 years and retired from her position with the NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities in 1991. A member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Links, Inc. and the Zonta Club, she was active in the community, especially in the promotion of the arts. She was a founding member of the Black Dimension in Arts and the Hamilton Hill Arts Center. She will long be remembered for her charitable thoughts and acts, as well as her active interest in all social and civic affairs. Ms. Brown in predeceased by her husband, Oscar Reginald Brown and her daughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughter, Jan; her sister, Dr. Helen deRamus Mitchell of NYC; her nephew and niece, Dr. Michael Mitchell and Ina Mitchell of Arizona; and her grandnephew, grandniece and a host of cousins. Born in Allston, Mass., he was the son of the late John and Kathorine Gillis Dacey and loving husband of the late Helen Porteus Dacey. Before moving to Albany in 1952, Mr. Dacey was a cryptographic technician in the US Army during World War II. He was a sales manager for the Continental Coffee Co. for over 45 years before retirement. Mr. Dacey loved traveling, especially to Maine, kayaking, golfing and was an avid reader. He was an usher for St. Pius X Church and a member of the board of directors for the Interfaith Prayer Room at the Albany International Airport. Mr. Dacey was also a devoted Red Sox fan. He is survived by his daughters, Andrea Dacey Sweet and her husband Philip of Redundo Beach, Calif. and Sharon Dacey Fernandes of Delmar; one son, Allan Dacey of West Halifax, Vt.; and his beloved son-in-law, Sharon's husband Michael Fernandes; one brother, Paul A. He went to Perdue University and received his master's from Xavier University. Mr. Henderson had lived in the Capital District for the past 40 years. John worked for the NYS DEC in Albany as a professional engineer for 10 years before retiring in 1992 and GE Schenectady Large Steam Turbine from 1968 to 1979. He also worked for American Standard, Inland Container, National Malleable Foundry and Eli Lilly. He was a member of the Schenectady Church Bowling League for 30 years and active in the Boy Scouts Troop 13 in Scotia. John was instrumental in establishing the Scotia-Glenville Boy's and Girl's All Sports Booster Club. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan K. Morin, Carmela MECHANICVILLE Carmela Marmillo Morin, of Warsaw St., died Monday, September 13, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Maryann Costanzo Marmillo. A homemaker, Carm had worked for the Marshall Ray Co. of Troy years ago. An avid reader, she also enjoyed her daily shopping and casino trips. Mrs. Morin had an extensive collection of porcelain angels that gained her notoriety. In the April 6, 1999 weekly edition of Women's Weekly, there appeared a story of the Mechanicville Tornado of 1998. The Morin home was destroyed in that storm but, during clean-up, all of Carm's prized angels were spared and Carm took that as a sign that the Lord had watched over her family and household. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Stillwater. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Robert E. Morin; her two daughters, Marie Morin and Roberta Morin, both of Mechanicville; two grandsons, Robert Fusco of Boston and Mark S. Fusco II of Schuylerville. Also survived by her brother, Dominick Shorty Marmillo; along with in-laws; nieces and nephews. Sheffer, 75, of Colonie, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Veterans Administration Hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Irving and Doris Walters Sheffer. Donald was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Korean War. He worked for Tobin Packing Company as a meat cutter for 28 years. More recently he was employed with Sysco Foods until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Glasser Sheffer; beloved father of Donna F. Schworm (Mark) and Betsy McCormick (Robert); brother of Irving Sheffer, Janice Schroll, Marilyn Sheffer and the late Helen (Honey) Vigliotti; grandfather of Todd and Jared Schworm; several nieces and nephews also survive. Spanbauer, age 74, of Niagara Falls, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Albany, N.Y. on May 15, 1930, the son of the late Francis and Rosa (Hines) Spanbauer, where he attended local school. He was a graduate of the Vincentian Institute in Albany where he competed in varsity baseball, basketball, football and golf. Span had a long history of sports leadership. During his senior year in high school, he co-captained the varsity football team and captained the basketball team. As a senior, he was named to the All-Albany Team in football, basketball and baseball. Following graduation from high school, he later attended Niagara University. At NU, he captained the freshman basketball and later the varsity team in his senior year. John played on NU's first NIT team during the 1949-50 season. He was voted the team's Most Valuable Player that year by his coaches and teammates. He served in the U.S. Marines as a Cpl. from 1952-54 at Cherry Point, N.C., where he captained the basketball team and was voted to the All Marine Team both years. In 1993, he was inducted into his high school Hall of Fame, the Niagara University Hall of Fame in 1976 and the Niagara Falls Old Timers Hall of Fame in 1997. He worked as a probation officer at Niagara County Probation Department, Lockport, N.Y. for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1991. He was the widower of Patricia Jo (Peak) Spanbauer, who died on October 28, 1977. Survived by his loving children, Karan, wife of Jeff Leo, Michael, husband of Rozanne Spanbauer, both of Niagara Falls, Patricia Lynn, wife of Tom Muller of Aurora, Colo., John Kevin, husband of Holly Spanbauer of Niagara Falls, Thomas Spanbauer of Cortland, N.Y., James, husband of Lori Spanbauer of Niagara Falls; brother, Joseph, husband of Carm Spanbauer, Albany; sister, Kay Latham of Albany. Bob TROY Robert Joseph Bob Weber, 76, died on Monday, September 13, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Estelle Knortz Weber. Until the time of his death, Bob was an avid runner and cyclist employed with Central Hudson Gas and Electric in Newburgh, N.Y. A Navy signalman during World War II, Bob was a longtime member of the American Legion 0152. He is survived by his wife, Olive Davidson Weber and his seven children, Mary E. She was born on July 18, 1948 in Albany. Judith worked as licensed production bureau office manager for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles for over 35 years before retiring in March of 2003. Judith is survived by her dear friend, Janice McGowty of Schenectady; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and George Lown; and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Cassidy Lown, all of Rock City Falls; a sister, Margaret (Donald) Deyoe of Albany; and a sister-in-law, Muriel Wilcox of Glenmont. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Virgil and Margaret Keller. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Judith A. Wilcox.
