Bell Sr, 53, formerly of Norton Hill, N.Y. passed away at St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany on Saturday, September 18, 2004. He was born on December 17, 1950, son of Ernest Bell and the late Minnie (Case) Bell. He was the owner-operator of Bell's Trucking in Norton Hill, N.Y. and was a former member and past chief of the Medusa Volunteer Fire Co. Ken had been incapacitated as a result of injuries received in an accident in Preston Hollow, N.Y. on November 5, 1990. Surviving are his guardian, Karen Bell-Winans of Medusa, N.Y.; his father, Ernest Bell of Scotia; a son, Kenneth Bell Jr. and his wife Kelly of Norton Hill; two daughters, Kimberly Anderson and her husband Joseph of Oak Hill, Kandice Sutton and her husband, Jesse of Greenville; four grandchildren, Madison Bell, Willobee and Kenneth Sutton, Garrett Anderson; a brother, David Bell of Norton Hill; a sister, Catherine Mart of Glenville; and also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Brown, Lois Eliza Putnam TROY Lois Eliza Putnam Brown, 89, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in West Day, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ira George Putnam and Winfred (Templeton) Putnam and sister to the late Carl Glenn Putnam. She moved to Corinth as a child because West Day was one of the towns flooded to form the Sacandaga Reservoir. In 1937, Lois married Kenneth Ernest Brown who died in 1970. They lived in Mass., R.I. and Conn. and settled in Wynantskill in 1953. She worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for 25 years. Lois was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, serving as a trustee and deacon as well as serving on the board of the Presbyterian Home. She is survived by many loving friends whose lives were made richer by her warm, generous nature, her sharp wit and her undying spirit. Cook D'Amico, 87, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville. She was born on May 24, 1917 in Hydeville, Vt. to the late Arthur B. and Josephine C. Corery Cook. Mrs. D'Amico worked as a secretary for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad in Albany for 34 years before retiring in 1976. She was a resident of the Capital District for most of her life. Her ever present sweetness, kindness and gentle spirit shall always be remembered and endure forever. Mrs. D'Amico is survived by her son, Derrick A. Dardani, John Joseph GLENMONT John Joseph Dardani, of Glenmont, beloved husband of Margery Comerford Dardani for 49 years, died Friday, September 17, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born and educated in Coxsackie, he was the son of the late Alfred and Anna Cella Dardani. He was a graduate of Coxsackie High School where he was an outstanding athlete in baseball, football and basketball. He served his country in the United States Army in the China Burma India Theater during World War II. He was employed by Conrail Railroad for over 40 years, serving in many capacities of rising responsibility and retired in 1982 as an engineer. John was a charter member of the Coxsackie Yacht Club. A life member and past vice commander of the Coxsackie American Legion Post 166 and former manager of the American Legion Post 166 baseball team. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Coxsackie. He was the recipient of the General Douglas MacArthur Youth Award for his dedication to the youth of N.Y. The American Legion honored him with the annual John Dardani American Legion Baseball Tournament. John was a 15-year volunteer for the Coxsackie Meals on Wheels Program. He and his wife have resided in Glenmont for the last seven years and were communicants of St. Thomas Church in Delmar. Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving daughter, Margaret Ellen Marcy and her husband Michael Zarcone of Loudonville; his cherished grandchildren, Margaret Margie Comerford Zarcone and M. He was a graduate of Cathedral Academy in Albany. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the North Atlantic as a petty officer. Mr. Mullin was a master carpenter and worked for Iroquois Millwork in Albany for many years, retiring in 1980. He was a long time communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in South Troy until moving to Malta in 2001 and joining Our Lady of Grace community in Ballston Lake. He was a member of the South Troy Polish Club and the Petty Officer's Club. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Dooley. Pakatar Sr., 79, of Oakwood Avenue, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 in the Community Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Watervliet, he was the son of the late Kiriakos Pakatar and Kiriaki (Mary) Miliades Pakatar and husband of the late Dorothy J. Smith Pakatar who died February 22, 2001. Mr. Pakatar was a graduate of Watervliet High School, class of 1943. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. He worked for the former Behr-Manning Co. in Watervliet as a machinist for 27 years. He also worked for Sano-Rubin Construction Co. He was co-founder of P & M Landscaping (now Pakatar Landscaping) in 1961. As a young man, he played minor league baseball and was a former coach at Armory Little League. Mr. Pakatar was an avid bowler. He won several area tournaments including the former TV Tournament Time. He was a fan of all sports, especially the Tri-City Valley Cats. He enjoyed annual family vacations at Hampton Beach, N.H. He was a member of the St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, Troy and its AHEPA Men's Association. Mr. Pakatar was proud father of eleven children, John T. Pakatar Jr. (June) of Waterford, Barbara J. Pasquarella, Paula NISKAYUNA Paula Prehoda Pasquarella, age 79, of Alterra Wynwood in Niskayuna, formerly of Fern Court in Guilderland, N.Y. died Friday evening, September 17, 2004 at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness. Mrs. Pasquarella was born in Granville, N.Y. and moved to the Schenectady area in 1942. Many years ago, she was employed by General Electric Telegraph in Schenectady. She was later employed by the Schenectady School District in their lunch program. She was a long time member of the Pinehaven Country Club and was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland. She was also a member of the Rotterdam Senior Citizens and the Ladies of the Rotterdam Elks (LORE). Mrs. Pasquarella enjoyed traveling abroad with her friends. She was predeceased in 1981 by her husband Patrick Pasquarella, whom she married in 1951. She is survived by her loving children, Denise Daugherty and her husband Michael of Clifton Park, N.Y. and Dennis Pasquarella and his wife Jana of Guilderland, N.Y.; sister of Rose Wise of Clifton Park, N.Y., Sally Campbell of Glens Falls, N.Y., George Prehoda of Schenectady, N.Y. and Charles Prehoda of Granville, N.Y.; cherished grandmother of Katie and Michael Daugherty and Nicholas and Christopher Pasquarella. She also leaves several nieces and nephews as well as several dear friends. She was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph Prehoda and a sister, Katherine O'Connor. Riley, 64, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy on July 19, 1940, he was the son of the late James M. Riley and the late Blanche Peterson Riley. He was raised in Watervliet and following his graduation from Watervliet High School, he enlisted and served proudly in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, Vincent enrolled in the Boston School of Arts and received his degree. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston. He worked in Boston for a number of years and returned to this area in the 1970s. He was employed by the New York State Department of Tax and Finance as a tax examiner before retiring in July of this year. He had also been associated with Securitas Security Services, Inc. in the Albany area for the last five years. Vincent enjoyed painting in his spare time and was devoted to his entire family and enjoyed family gatherings, reunions and especially the Christmas holiday season. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. He was the proud brother of James J. Riley (Anna) of Troy, John R. Riley (Anna Mary) of Wellesley, Mass., Thomas M. Riley Sr. (Dorothy) of Watervliet, Kathleen M. Matthews (Jim Pallotolo) of Albany and Ann Marie Riley of Watervliet. Vincent is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was a proud Godfather to a number of children. He was predeceased by his brother, George T. Riley in 1991. Shaver, 60, at Ellis Hospital, entered into eternal life September 17, 2004 in the presence of her family. Virginia went home to the Lord following a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 20, 1943 in Oneonta, N.Y. and the daughter of Ralph and Madeline Stockin Shaver. She went to Oneonta High School and received her master's in education from SUNY at Albany in 1965. Virginia taught English at Amsterdam High School for over 30 years prior to her retirement in 1999. She enjoyed travel and was a die-hard Yankee fan. Her mother, Madeline Shaver, died this past July. Survivors include her nephew, David Shaver and his wife Rosemary of Delmar; and her niece, Lisa S. Radley and her husband Bill of Clifton Park, N.Y.; grandnieces and nephews, Jack and Samuel Radley, Brendon, Brittni, Ashleigh and Gabrielle Shaver. She is survived by her uncle, Sam Stockin of Laurens, N.Y. as well as several cousins. She was predeceased also by her brother, Robert R. Shaver, in 1985. Simonian, Adam J. LATHAM Adam J. Simonian, 88, of Latham, beloved husband of the late Jennifer A. Lavazzo Simonian, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at his home with his loving family at his side. Born and educated in Watervliet, he was the son of the late John and Polly Simonian. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School and received his master's degree from Siena College. He was a master sergeant in the United States Army, serving in both World War II and Korea. He has resided in Latham since 1955 and had resided in Troy prior. Adam was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Armenian Apostolic Church in Latham, where he served as the Sunday school superintendent for over 25 years. He was a member of the Parish Council at the church for over 35 years. Adam was an avid bowler and hand ball player and previously managed and played for the Armenian Softball Team. He was a former member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192. Survivors include his loving daughter, Barbara J. B.J. (Brian) Olesen of Latham; his cherished grandchildren, Brian Olesen of Latham and Sonja Dodge of Cranston, R.I.; his great-granddaughter, Cadence Dodge. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jerry Simonian and James Simonian, who was killed during the invasion of Normandy in World War II.
