ALBANY Joseph A. Baisden, 89, of Albany, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, after a long illness. Born and educated in Watervliet, he was the son of the late Elmer L. and Eliza Ayers Baisden. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Europe. Mr. Baisden was a locomotive engineer with the former Delaware & Hudson Railroad in the passenger and freight divisions for 37 years, retiring in 1976. He was a 45 year member of Evening Star Masonic Lodge, Latham. Survivors include his sisters, Laura Murphy of Albany and Lois (Harold) Jackson of Watervliet; his brother, Lewis H. Boehlke, 92, formerly of Ravena, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital. Agnes was born in Coeymans, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Louise Sorell. She was a housewife and a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Agnes was predeceased by her husbands, Paul H. Boehlke and George E. Boehlke. Carter, 48, of Brookline Drive, died on Monday, September 20, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany after a long illness. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on December 13, 1955 and was the son of Dr. Richard H. and Mary Oliver Carter of Las Vegas. He was a graduate of the former Linton High School in Schenectady and he received his bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University. He was a turbine generator finance analyst for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, having worked there for 19 years. Earlier, he had worked for the former Singer Link Co. of Binghamton. He was a member of the Elfun Society at GE and a volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity. He was the vice president and chief financial officer of the Clifton Park Baseball League. He was the Nation Chief of Indian Princesses of Southern Saratoga County. John was also the Chief of Indian Guides of Southern Saratoga County. He was the treasurer of the Shenendehowa Men's Varsity Swim Team. He was the beloved husband of Jean M. Lombardi Carter, whom he married on March 24, 1979; the devoted father of Daniel J., Jeffrey M., and Emily J. Carter, all of Clifton Park; brother of Dr. Michael (Linda) Carter of San Diego, Calif., Kevin (Jeanne) Carter of Raynham, Mass., Katherine (Charles) Shupe of Aloha, Ore. and Patricia Carter of Temecula, Calif.; son-in-law of Anthony and Berenice Lombardi of Guilderland; brother-in-law, Linda (Michael) Doyle of Albany, Daniel (Suzanne) Lombardi of Voorheesville, Diane (Dennis) Miller of Bristol, Conn. and Ellen (Jeffrey) Pitkin of Guilderland; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Flood Fennelly and wife of Nicholas M. Casale. Mrs. Casale was educated in St. Mary's School and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1953. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Rensselaer County, Bureau of Finance for over 20 years. Marie was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of St. Mary's Altar Rosary Society, a member of United Public Service Employees Union #424, and was an avid reader to her grandchildren, a museum visitor, and most of all, she was totally devoted to her family. Survivors in addition to her husband Nick, include her four daughters, Joanne (David) Bonesteel of Brunswick, Mary Robinson of Loudonville, Maureen (Mario) Mainella of Colonie and Donna (Gennaro) Sposito of Latham. Riley, 64, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy on July 19, 1940, he was the son of the late James M. Riley and the late Blanche Peterson Riley. He was raised in Watervliet and following his graduation from Watervliet High School, he enlisted and served proudly in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, Vincent enrolled in the Boston School of Arts and received his degree. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston. He worked in Boston for a number of years and returned to this area in the 1970s. He was employed by the New York State Department of Tax and Finance as a tax examiner before retiring in July of this year. He had also been associated with Securitas Security Services, Inc. in the Albany area for the last five years. Vincent enjoyed painting in his spare time and was devoted to his entire family and enjoyed family gatherings, reunions and especially the Christmas holiday season. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. He was the proud brother of James J. Riley (Anna) of Troy, John R. Riley (Anna Mary) of Wellesley, Mass., Thomas M. Born and educated in Watervliet, he was the son of the late John and Polly Simonian. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School and received his master's degree from Siena College. He was a master sergeant in the United States Army, serving in both World War II and Korea. He has resided in Latham since 1955 and had resided in Troy prior. Adam was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Armenian Apostolic Church in Latham, where he served as the Sunday school superintendent for over 25 years. He was a member of the Parish Council at the church for over 35 years. Adam was an avid bowler and hand ball player and previously managed and played for the Armenian Softball Team. He was a former member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192. Survivors include his loving daughter, Barbara J. B.J. Yoder, 79, died on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home. Born January 25, 1925 in Mt. Morris, Ill., he was the son of the late Harry and Mary Yoder. Robert served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He married Dorothy Cranston of Schenectady in 1946. In 1950 he entered the U.S. Army, retiring August 1970 as a colonel. His decorations include the Legion of Merit. Robert participated in the defense of Guadalcanal (World War II) and the invasion of Inchon (Korean War). He served as division signal officer of 2nd Infantry Division, Korea in 1967. He also served three tours of duty in Washington, DC including service on the Army general staff and the executive office of the President. Colonel Yoder was a graduate of RPI, the University of Michigan, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, U.S. Army War College and SUNY Albany. He was a professor of mathematics at H.V.C.C. for 12 years after retiring from the Army. Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Yoder of Niskayuna; his two sons, Dr. James Yoder of Atlanta, Ga. and Dr. Robert C. Yoder of Niskayuna. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Diane Emmons Yoder and two grandchildren, Rachael and Harrison all of Niskayuna. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
