Jason was born in Albany where he resided all of his life, recently moving to NYC. He was a graduate of the Colonie High School and graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst this past May. He is survived by his father Lawrence Alfred of Guilderland and the late Risa Kaplan Alfred. Brother of David Alfred of NYC. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Roslyn Kaplan of Menands, N.Y.; and paternal grandmother, Madeline Alfred of Lenox, Mass. He also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Jason was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Sonny Kaplan and paternal grandfather, Leonard Alfred. At the request of the family, private graveside services will be held on Friday at the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, N.Y. Barber, 86, of Claremont Ave., died suddenly at home Wednesday, September 22, 2004. Mrs. Barber was born in Catskill and resided most of her life in the Schenectady area. She was a World War II Navy Wave before working at the Army Depot and the Watervliet Arsenal, where she retired with over 30 years service, as procurement clerk. Sophie had a lifelong love of people of all ages, as was evident with her volunteerism in the Schenectady community. She had many interests and was involved in many organizations, especially those with advocacy for senior citizens. Sophie was past president of the Highbridge Civic Association, past officer for the National Association of Federal Employees, past president of AARP 490, board member of the Annie Schaffer Senior Citizens Center, Human Service Planning Council, New York State Senior Action Council, active with the Rotterdam Seniors where she was the trip director, past president of Catholic Daughters Court St. Catherine, No. 128 and the Christ Child Society, she was a charter member of the Women's Memorial Foundation and among being honored many times through the years, she also received the Schenectady County Office of the Aging Senior Citizen of the Year. Sophie was a long time communicant of St. Madeline Sophie Church where she was also a volunteer and a member of the choir. Sophie also enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, crocheting and being with people. She married Anthony J. Barber in 1948, he died in 1980. She was also predeceased by her sister, Frances Ganson. She is survived by relatives, friends and neighbors. Chesbro, 93 years, beloved wife of 62 years to the late Clinton Chesbro Sr., went home to the Lord September 22, 2004 at the Samaritan Hospital Hospice after a long illness. De Paula, Lillian Mary SCHENECTADY Lillian Mary De Paula, 84, of the Glendale Nursing Home, formerly of Oakland Avenue, died early Thursday morning, September 23, 2004 at the nursing home. Lillian was born in Schenectady on September 19, 1920, a daughter of the late Giovanni and Olympia Nardacci D'Aversa. She was raised and educated in Schenectady. For 25 years, Lillian was employed by General Electric in Building 28. She was also a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. Lillian was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Wife of the late Anthony J. De Paula Sr. whom she married September 20, 1945. Survivors include her son, Anthony J. De Paula Jr. and wife Susan of Saratoga Springs; loving grandmother of Kara J. De Paula of Saratoga Springs; her sisters, Mary Marinucci and husband Peter, Rose D'Aversa, Jennie Gardino and husband Angelo; brother, John D'Aversa and wife Joan; sister-in-law, Mary D'Aversa all of Schenectady, the late Julie Taber, Mario and Alexander D'Aversa. Edwards, Diane GLENVILLE Diane Faux Edwards, 46, of Glenville, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, September 21, 2004 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Piscataway, N.J., she was a 1980 honors graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor of arts degree in English. She was raised in Blue Bell, Pa. and was a copy editor for the Judson Press in Valley Forge, Pa. prior to her 1981 marriage to her husband, John Edwards. Along with her husband, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Rexford and active with women's bible studies there. Diane was a tireless advocate for her children and an inspiration to her many friends who admired her quiet servants heart. Diane was an amateur genealogist, enjoying researching her Pa. roots, as well as an avid gardener, naturalist and birdwatcher. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Gregory and Kyle of Glenville; her parents, Wayne and Nancy Faux of Drums, Pa.; her brother, Jerry Faux of Cape Coral, Fla.; her brother, Mark Faux of Sellersville, Pa.; her sister, Lauren Miller of Drums; numerous nieces and nephews. Martin was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. and moved to this area in 1967. He was co-owner of Lawless Container Corp. in Scotia and retired in 1991. Martin enjoyed reading and fishing. He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Pinehaven Country Club. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Phyllis Yaggi Elzer; two daughters, Susan Mullen of Niskayuna and Jennifer Ruderman of Castleton-On-The-Hudson; two granddaughters, Katherine Zink and Elizabeth Zink. Ernst, Frances (Honey) WEST COXSACKIE Frances A. Ernst, 83, died September 20, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital. She was the daughter of the late May Lillian Simon and Henry Gaddor. She was employed by the City of Albany and New York State for more than 30 years. She was also a veteran, having served in the Women's Army Corps and the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Chris) Pelton of West Coxsackie; sons, Albert (Jane) of LaMesa, Calif. and Raymond of Albany; brothers, Robert Gaddor and Charles Simon. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert O. Ernst in 1984; granddaughter, Michele Pelton in 1997; sisters, Mary Vagele and Helen DiLello; and brother, Raymond Gaddor. Floody M.D., Robert J. EAST GREENBUSH Robert J. Floody MD, 93, formerly of Wayne, N.J., died Monday, September 20, 2004 at his residence in East Greenbush after a lengthy illness. Dr. Floody was born in Albany and had been a resident of the Capital Region for several years. He was associated with Hoffmann-LaRoche Pharmaceuticals in Nutley, N.J. for over 50 years, and worked at the VA Hospital in Albany for several years. Doctor was a graduate of State College for Teachers in 1932 and a graduate of Albany Medical College in 1936. At the age of 15, he was the organist of the Hope Baptist Church in Albany, making him one of the youngest organists in the country at that time. He was member of the Branford Electric railways and Shoreline Trolley Museum in Connecticut. He was predeceased by his parents, William H. and Margaret (LeFevre Osborne) Floody; his wife, Lillian (Stanbury) Floody who died in December of 2002; a brother, Ralph W. Floody. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (James) Leyhane of East Greenbush, Jocelyn (Michael) Reid of Stevensport, Wis.; a son, Owen R. Kowalczyk, Anthony C. SCHENECTADY Anthony C. Kowalczyk, 85, of State Street, passed away at home on Monday, September 20, 2004. Born in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., he was a son of the late Peter and Eva Kurowski Kowalczyk. An area resident for over 80 years, he was a graduate of the Scotia High School and later employed by WRGB Channel 6 as maintenance crew chief until his retirement in 1983. Anthony, Tony as he was known, was an original member of the US Army 10th Mountain Division Ski Patrol which he served in during World War II. Prior to the War, he was in the National Guard. His service awards include the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. Tony was a life member of the 10 Mountain Division and greatly enjoyed attending their reunions. His other hobbies included reading/research, skiing and television repair. He is survived by his niece, Patricia and Robert Belden and their three sons, Joseph, Matthew and Andrew Belden, all of Rotterdam, and nephew, Reverend Philip A. LeBeau of West Milford, N.J. He also leaves behind devoted friends, Marian and Bill Jewell and their children, David and James Jewell and Susan Shuman, Robert Durr and Ashok and Susmita Patel. Tony was predeceased by a brother, Adolph S. Kowalczyk in 1945 and a sister, Josephine Kowalczyk LeBeau in 1989. Marcoux, 80, formerly of Averill Park and recently a resident of Yucca Valley, passed away September 4, 2004, after a lengthy illness. Born at home on Green Island on January 11, 1924, he was the son of the late Arthur J. Marcoux and Anna Collins Marcoux. He was married for 52 years to Ella Shields Marcoux who passed away in 1999. He was raised in Troy, graduated from Catholic Central High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for McManus, Longe and Brockwehl, General Contractors, Latham. He remained there until his retirement in 1986. He was a life member of the Averill Park-Sand Lake Fire Co. and served as fire police captain for many years. He also served as a fire commissioner for the Town of Sand Lake. He was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park for 33 years and was a Eucharistic minister. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Darlene Marcoux of Merritt Island, Fla. and his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Thomas Conway of Morongo Valley, Calif. along with five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, A. Donald Marcoux, and his two sisters, Dorothy Pietrak and Ruth McManus. The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. She was born in Albany, the daughter of the late James and Mary Ida Winnie Herrington. Melissa lived in Albany until 1932 at which time she moved to Kingston, N.Y. In 1960, she moved to Tampa. She was a member of the Navy Mothers, the Daughters of the Spanish American War and, in Tampa, she was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Melissa was the wife of the late Herbert Clyde Maxwell and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Perreault, 90, of Winding Ridge in Clifton Park, died on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Saratoga Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Westboro, Mass. on May 9, 1914 and was the son of the late Armand and Angelina Gregoire Perreault. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1933. He attended and played basketball for St. Michael's College in Winooski, Vt. and Washington State University. Victor retired about 28 years ago from the Norton/Behr Manning Co. as a regional sales manager, having worked there for more than 30 years. In his earlier years, Vic bowled with the Alpha Bowling Lanes in Troy. He was active with the CCHS Alumni Association and enjoyed working with their annual Phone-A-Thon. An avid golfer, Vic had been a member of the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers. He was the beloved husband of Joan E. Smith Perreault and the late Marie Cunningham Perreault, who died in 1999. He is the devoted father of Matthew Perreault of Lake Wylie, S.C. and Anne DiSciullo of Bedford, N.H.; step-father of Andrew Smith of Los Angeles, Calif. and Joanne Smith of Clifton Park; grandfather of Natalie Perreault, Karen Jones and Amy DiSciullo; great-grandfather of Tiffany Perreault and Meghan and Lucas Jones; step-grandfather of Mark and Scott Smith; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Susan Povelka, 84, died September 9, 2004 at her residence. Born May 23, 1920, in Granville, she was the daughter of John and Helen (Mika) Povelka. ALBANY Patricia Howley Rehfuss, 83, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the Teresian House after a long illness. Born in Rutland, Vt., Mrs. Rehfuss has been an Albany area resident since 1939. She was a 1943 graduate of the College of St. Rose, a member of the Wolferts Roost Country Club and was involved in many civic and community organizations throughout her life. She was a graduate of Albany High School and resided on Benson Street in Albany. Ruth was senior stenographer to the regional director of the New York State Department of Social Services in Albany, retiring in 1979. She was a member of several area women's and bridge clubs and was an avid reader and traveler. Ruth is survived by her sister-in-law Martha Vandenbergh, Albany, nieces, Carol Albright, Selkirk and Ruth Lewis (Thomas), Castleton; nephew, Richard Vandenbergh (Claire), Castleton; three great-nephews, Adam Lewis, John and Louis Vandenbergh; one great-niece Elizabeth Lewis (Burak); and three great great-nephews. WYNANTSKILL A truly humble and gentle man passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. Mort owned and operated Mort's Barber Shop in Wynantskill for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler at Hi-Way Recreation in Wynantskill and was a member of the Troy Bowling Hall of Fame. Mr. Wainwright was a member of the Greater Consistory of the First Reformed Church, Wynantskill, a lifetime member of the North Greenbush Ambulance Association and a board member of the Evergreen Cemetery Association, Wynantskill. He was a member and past master of the Wadsworth Lodge #417 F&AM as well as a 32nd degree member of the Valley of Albany Scottish Rite Masons. He was the son of the late Albert and Jennie Wainwright. He was the loving husband of Marcia Wright Wainwright; father of Jeffrey S. (Judi) Wainwright of Ballston Spa, Amy Sue (Bruce) Cocca of Chittenango, N.Y. and Stephen A. Wainwright of Wynantskill; grandfather of Jason and Tyler Cocca and Brian Wainwright. He was the brother of Alyce (Lloyd) Littlefield of Hurley, N.Y. and Albert Wainwright of Warner's Lake. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Little. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Daniel Webster, 47, of 7th Avenue in Lansingburgh, died Thursday, September 23, 2004 at his residence after a long illness. He was born on June 30, 1957 in Troy and was the son of Hon. Walter L. and Anne Marie O'Donnell Webster of Eagle Mills. He was a graduate of Tamarac High School and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, where he earned his associate's degree in political science. Dan was the beloved husband of Deborah A. Forcucci Webster, whom he married on Sept. 20, 1980. Dan and Debbie just celebrated their 24th. wedding anniversary. He was the technical assistant for the Disability Resource Center at Hudson Valley Community College. He has worked there for more than 15 years. Earlier he had worked for the New York Assembly in Albany. He was an active member and communicant of the St. Augustine Parish family. Dan served on the St. Augustine's School Board, had been a member of the Bazaar Committee and had been a loyal member of the Bingo Committee. Dan was a member of the Board of Directors of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Troy. He had been an avid golfer, but most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his wife and their three daughters. Dan was a proud father who would never missed one of his girls activities. In addition to his wife and parents, Dan is the devoted father of Meagan Aileen Webster, Jessica Elizabeth Webster and Rebecca Ann Webster all of Troy; the brother of Walter L. She was born in New Salem, N.Y. on November 14, 1931 to the late Luther and Beulah MacMillen. Mrs. Weinlein was married on February 19, 1955 to Charles J. Weinlein Sr. She was a partner with her husband on many endeavors, including a Chrysler dealership, Weinlein's of Warrensburg. Mimi was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed life and was the life of the party. Marion loved playing the piano, singing, dancing and gardening. She was a talented artist. Mrs. Weinlein especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her loving husband, Charles, Mimi is the beloved mother of Laurie Weinlein, Lisa Reichelt and Charles J. Weinlein Jr. She is the sister of Beulah Nasner and Kathleen Audino. She is the cherished grandmother of Veronica Reichelt and Brandon, Jessica, Katelyn and Marisa Weinlein.
