Marsha was born in Albany where she has been a lifelong resident. She was a New York State employee for many years retiring in 1995. She was a member of Congregation B'Nai Sholom in Albany and a member of Abigail #3, UOTS. She is survived by her husband, Robert Architzel; a daughter, Dina Architzel of Schenectady. Marsha was also survived by an aunt, Pearl Blumenthal of Laguna Hills, Calif.; two cousins, E. Martin Blumenthal and Robert B. Blumenthal, both of Calif. She was predeceased by a sister, Linda Sheff. Born in Albany, he lived in the Capital District his whole life. Bruce worked as a mail clerk for the New York State Department of Education for the past five years. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Leroy and Lois Lamos and great-grandmother, Elsie Ladouceur. Survivors include his mother, Cheryl Lamos of East Greenbush; his father, Gary Belcher of Slingerlands; two sisters, Rebekah and Barbara Belcher, both of East Greenbush; one brother, Ben Belcher, also of Slingerlands; paternal grandmother, Arvina Foster; one uncle, Bill Law; and one aunt, Linda (Oakley) Bathrick and their daughter, Ashleigh. Bickerman, Julia Tyler ALBANY Julia Tyler Bickerman, 83, passed away Monday, August 22, 2005 at the Community Hospice Inn of St. Peter's Hospital. She was born February 9, 1922 in Paul Smith's, N.Y., the daughter of the late Gordon and Mary Tyler. Julia graduated as valedictorian from Memorial School of Nursing in 1943. She worked as a registered nurse in area hospitals and did private duty nursing until her retirement in 1972, all while raising a family. Her grandchildren were the pride of her life. She remarked the day her oldest grandchild was born, Now I know why I was put on this earth. She would be seen at every soccer, football, basketball or baseball game in which her grandchildren played. In addition, she attended every school play, award and graduation ceremony, science fair and fund raising dinner in which her grandchildren were involved. Besides spending time with her grandchildren, she was an avid Yankee fan and rarely missed a game on TV. Before health problems took their toll, she loved to fish, sail, water ski, and chop wood for the fireplace at her summer home. She was also an accomplished seamstress and knitter and loved doing puzzles which challenged her brain. She will be remembered most for her outrageous sense of humor and grace during adversity. Despite four bouts with cancer, two heart attacks and surgeries too numerous to name, she handled it all in her stride, without complaint or self-pity. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 42 years, Joseph Bickerman and by her beloved oldest grandchild, David Maher. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Maher (Greg) of Delmar and Karen Papandrea (Tony) of Voorheesville and a son, Gordon Tyler Bickerman (Shawn) of Garden Grove, Calif. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Eric Papandrea, Katharine and Alison Maher, Sara, Tyler, Kyle and Zachary Bickerman. She is also survived by four sisters, numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Cappuccitti, Concetta Connie SCHENECTADY Concetta Connie Cappuccitti, 92, of Carrie Street, died Sunday morning, August 21, 2005 at St. Clare's Hospital. Connie was born in Bocco Stella, Providence of Caserta, Italy, the daughter of the late Frank and Frances DeStefano Vano. Connie's family immigrated to America in November of 1921. Connie was educated in Schenectady schools. Connie worked for the General Electric for several years, and later as a clerk and in the bakery department at Codino's Italian Specialty Imports on VanVranken Avenue for over 15 years. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Connie enjoyed baseball, always looking forward to a good game. Beloved wife of 64 years to the late Louis Cappuccitti, whom she married January 23, 1932 and he died May 27, 1996. Connie is survived by her devoted children, Fran Cappuccitti of Schenectady, Regina and her husband James Krakat of Schenectady and the late Dominick Cappuccitti; her daughter-in-law, Gloria Cappuccitti of Schenectady; her loving grandchildren, Laura, Anthony, Louis, David, Paula, Deborah, Linda, James, Andrew and the late Daniel; her adored great-grandchildren, Dominick, Daniel, Joseph, Rachel, Nicole, Gina, Kristina, Sarah, Matthew, Ben, Danielle, Andre, Michael and Christian; her siblings, Julia Putorti of Schenectady, Mary Mazzanoble of Niskayuna and the late Thomas and Anthony Vano. Regina was born on March 6, 1928 and was the daughter of the late William J. and Mary F. McMahon Cranney Sr. She graduated from St. Brigid's School in Watervliet and Vincentian Institute in Albany. Regina was the proprietor of Gina's Beauty Salon in Watervliet for over 20 years. She also worked for many years as a bank teller for the National Commercial Bank at the North Albany and Waterford branches and was a very caring home health aid provider for a number of years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing piano and cruise traveling. She was a former member of the Watervliet Elks Club Ladies Auxiliary and St. Brigid's Church. Regina is survived by two daughters, Eileen A. (Gordon) Henry of Colonie and Colleen A. Russell of Malta; five grandchildren, Matthew and Brent Henry, Amie Walsh and Andrew and Brad Russell; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William J. Cranney Jr. and a sister, Rosemary Okrepkie. Joe attended St. Clements School and Saratoga Central Catholic High School, before graduating from Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. At the time of his death, he was a valued member of Matthews Buses, Inc. where he held an executive sales position. Growing up in Saratoga Springs, Joe took full advantage of his beautiful surroundings. He was an accomplished skier and mountain biker. He lived each day with exuberance and an incredibly positive attitude. Joe was a devoted husband to Annamaria (Misurelli) Dalton and loving and dedicated father to Daniel (age 6) and Joanna (age 3) and precious son of Joe and Gloria Dalton of Saratoga Springs. Joe is also survived by his brother, Matthew Dalton of New York, N.Y. and his sister Caragh (Dalton) Fahy and her husband Jason of Liverpool, N.Y.; Annamaria's parents, Maria and Vincent Misurelli of Saratoga Springs; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Christie Misurelli of Nantucket, Mass.; and her sister, Patricia Misurelli of Albany, N.Y.; several aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and many friends. Those who were fortunate to have known him will forever be positively impacted. Joe never met a stranger, he treated one and all with dignity, respect, kindness and generosity. She was born on May 4, 1933 in Bloomingdale, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Cleo Swinyer Rieck. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Feeney Jr. Theo was formerly a teacher of reading and English at North Colonie Central Schools for 33 years before retiring in 1988. A graduate of Saranac Lake High School, she obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from the State University of New York at Albany. Survivors include her beloved fiance, Dr. James G. Bennett Jr.; nephew, Dennis Rieck and his wife Karen; grandniece, Lindsay Rieck Gryziec; grandnephew, Mason Rieck; great-grandnephew, Mason Dennis Rieck; sister-in-law, Margaret M. Feeney; stepsons, Joseph R. Feeney III, John J. Feeney and Jerry M. Feeney as well as several step-grandchildren. She retired in 1998 as a supervisor after 21 years with Adirondack Dan's Army and Navy Store. Nettie was a longtime communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church in West Albany. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Fontana in 2003. She was the sister of Matilda Desimone and the late Dominic Cerone, Joseph Cerone and Rose Felitte; several nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive Nettie. Ham of Newtonville, died Monday, August 22, 2005, at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a long illness. She was the widow of Robert C. Ham. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Winifred Tierney. As a young girl, she moved to the Capital District and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. She was an operations manager at the former Fidelity Bank, later Manufacturers Hanover Bank in Latham for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. She previously had been employed by the Blue Cross-Blue Shield for several years prior to her marriage. Mary was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville, where she was a member of its Pep Group and Mid Singles. She was also a member of Friends of Pruyn House and the Young At Heart group at St. Ambrose Church, both in Latham. Survivors include her daughter, Karen (John) Esposito of Ballston Lake; three grandchildren, Terry and Michael Esposito and Tina Esposito Van Buskirk; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Joseph and Hayley Esposito, and John and James Van Buskirk. She was predeceased by her brother, John Tierney and his wife Kathleen. Born in Albany's South End and resided in East Berne since 1971, he had a winter home in Blue Heron Bay, Haines City, Fla. He retired in 1980 as an operating engineer with Local 106 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, sky diving, boat racing, bowling, snowmobiling, pleasure flying experimental aircraft and built his own 2-place helicopter. Frank is survived by his wife, Pamela Herchenroder House; father of Franklin House III of Berne; son of Elizabeth House of Albany; brother of Daniel House (Dawn) of Ticonderoga, Arthur House of Mechanicville and Stanley House (Janice) of East Berne; grandfather of Autumn House of Central Bridge; many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends also survive. Linen, Mary Sarah Neary COHOES Mary Sarah Neary Linen, 86, passed away on August 22, 2005, after a brief illness. She was born April 29, 1919 in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Jay Neary and Mae Bell Neary and sister of the late George R. Neary. Mary was a 1936 graduate of Cohoes High School and a 1940 graduate of Russell Sage College. In her early life, she was a teacher in the Cohoes Public School system and employed with General Electric Company during World War II era. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Earl W. Linen. Together they enjoyed a family of four daughters, Christine M. VanZandt (John) of Cohoes, Denise A. Linen of Albany, Patricia E. Linen Ryan (Thomas) of Rexford and predeceased by Pamela E. Pelletier (Dennis); loving grandmother of one granddaughter, Kori M. Diehl (Clifford); four grandsons, Eric J. VanZandt and Brett J. VanZandt, Garret T. Ryan and Joshua E. Pelletier; great-grandmother of Patrick and Ericka Diehl, Brittani and Bryan VanZandt. Mary is also survived by her cousins, Michael, Debbie and John Burke. Momberger, Edwin Bill GLENVILLE Edwin Bill Momberger, 71, of Glenville, died August 17, 2005 at Albany Medical Center. Mr. Momberger, who was born in Buffalo and lived in Glenville 45 years. He taught at Euclid school, was principal at Hamilton and Yates, and was manager of plant operations for the Schenectady School District. He also taught at Wildwood School. For several years he was employed at Mohawk Valley Trains. Mr. Momberger received a bachelor of science and a master of science from the State University at Oneonta. He served in the Navy from 1953 to 1957, and in the reserves until 1960. Mr. Momberger was a member of the Train Collectors Association, the Capital Region MC Car Club and the Schenectady YMCA board of managers. He was a volunteer with the Grand Boulevard Fire Company in Niskayuna, and East Glenville Fire Company. Survivors include his wife, Marion; two children, Douglas and his wife Toni of Redlands, Calif. and Susan of Hummelstown, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Hunter and Carlisle of Redlands. Mosca, Helen Hart GLENMONT Helen Hart Mosca, 88, of Glenmont died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home. Mrs. Mosca was born in Troy on April 19, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Agnes Byron Hart. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Mosca, who died on January 22, 2005 and sister of the late Agnes Wozniak. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Jay) Mosca Jr. of Glenmont; a brother, Charles Hart of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Theresa Brackley of Chicago, Ill. and several nieces and nephews. Born and educated in Troy, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Agnes Nolan Burke. She was a 1945 graduate of Catholic Central High School and later of the Mildred Elley Business College. Liz was employed as a legal secretary for the NYS Attorney Generals Office for many years and then raised her two beautiful children. After her children were grown she went back to work for the NYS Department of Tax & Finance where she was a senior stenographer for 14 years until retiring in 1991. She and her husband have resided in Latham for 41 years and were longtime communicants of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. She was a member of the Civil Service Employees Association, the Tax Alumni Club and the Retired Public Employee Association. Liz was an active volunteer at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. She loved vacationing in Maine with her family and her two trips to Ireland. Survivors in addition to her husband include her loving children, Mary Agnes and her husband Neal Methany of Latham; her cherished grandson, Daniel E. Methany of Latham. She was predeceased by her much loved son, Francis Xavier O'Donnell in 1999 and her sister, Mary Ann Blanchard. Liz is also survived by her two companions, Kerry Girl and Shamus. Pakan, Elizabeth J. Beth Newell CHARLOTTE, N.C. Elizabeth J. Beth Newell Pakan, 40, of Blue Bell Lane in Charlotte and former Ballston Lake resident, died on Saturday, August 20, 2005 after a short illness. She was born on June 1, 1965 in Troy, N.Y. and was the beloved daughter of Mrs. Doris Wendt Newell of Clifton Park and the late Thomas Newell, who died in 1985. Beth was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School, class of 1983, the College of St. Rose where she received her bachelor's in English literature and she was also a graduate of SUNY at Albany where she received her master's degree in library science. Beth had been the director of libraries for the Albany Memorial Hospital and the Samaritan Hospital. With the birth of her two children, she became a full time mom. She was a member of the Medical Library Association. She was a volunteer at the Crestdale Middle School and was active with the Matthews United Methodist Church Library in Matthews, N.C. While in Clifton Park, Beth had volunteered with the Clifton Park/Halfmoon Emergency Corps for over 10 years where she met her husband. She had been a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Clifton Park and later was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church prior to moving to N.C. She was an avid reader and especially loved the time spent with her husband, children and family. She is the beloved wife of Dwight J. Pakan, whom she married on October 28, 1989. She is the devoted mother of Dwight DJ Pakan and Thomas S. Pakan, both of Charlotte; sister of Joseph T. Newell of Princetown, N.Y.; aunt of Daminica Ryan Newell. Renzi, Eileen Flanagan ALBANY Eileen Flanagan Renzi, 73, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Teresian House with her loving family at her side. Born June 18, 1932 in Woodside, N.Y, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. and Kathleen Connolly Flanagan and the widow of Francis D. Renzi of Schenectady. After a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Eileen leaves behind an enormous legacy of memories from a long, happy and productive life. After graduation from Cathedral Academy, Eileen's distinguished career included working for Governor Averill Harriman, District Attorney Jack Garry, Majority Leader of the NYS Assembly, Moses Weinstein and retiring in 1995 from the Department of Social Services as special assistant to the Commissioner. She served as president of the Democratic Women of the Legislature, treasurer for the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernian's-JFK Division, Father Peter Young's outreach program, member of Blue Cross/Blue Shield Board of Directors and served as a lector at St. John/St. Ann Church. She was the loving mother of Patrick Renzi (Antoinette Cavalieri); grandmother of Michael P., Francis D., Theresa M. and Eileen N. Renzi. She was the sister of Marion Waite, Daniel J. Flanagan, Sr. (Joyce), Ellen Catalano, Doris Barr (John), Barbara Santiago (Paul), Thomas DePalma (Helene), Kathleen Loerzel (Lorenz) and the late Michael P. Flanagan, Arthur T. Flanagan and Joan A. Ed was employed with Will Ross Medical Supplies in Cohoes for 27 years, retiring in 1980. He was later employed with Barcaly Home Products and O.T.B. in Cohoes. Ed was a self-employed landscaper for several years maintaining many lawns in Cohoes. He was a member of the Cohoes Moose Club, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, shooting darts and horseshoes. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Cohoes. Ed is survived by his devoted children, Dale and his wife Terry of Watervliet and Edward and his wife Tammy of Cohoes; his cherished grandchildren, Shelly, Crystal, Nichole, Edward M., Albert J., Christina and Paul; his adored great-grandchildren, Christopher, Brianna, Kevin, Serena and Shannon; his sister, Ann Cerqua of Waterford; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Sloboda, Ruby Mary Crompton FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Ruby Mary Crompton Sloboda, loving mother and devoted wife, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. A former resident of Waterford, N.Y., Mrs. Sloboda was born in 1926 in Peterborough, England, the daughter of Winifred and Percy Crompton. During World War II, she met her husband, Andrew, a flyer with the U.S. Army Air Forces 8th Air Force, and came to this country in 1946 to be married. She worked for the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance and retired as chief of withholding tax in 1989. Mrs. Sloboda is survived by Andrew, her husband of nearly 59 years. She will also be missed by her son, Roger Sloboda of Hanover, N.H.; her daughter, Angela Minnick of Fredericksburg; her sister, Monica Oosterlinck of Hamilton, Ontario; her grandchildren, Aaron Sloboda of Baltimore, Md., Sarah Catalano of Fairfax, Va., Lara Sloboda of Boston, Mass., Blair Lawrence of Charlottesville, Va. and Laurel Minnick of Fredericksburg. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Magdellena Murray. Edith was a Schenectady resident for most of her life. Mrs. VanDerHyden graduated from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for Ellis Hospital for 16 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and reading. Edith is the beloved wife of Ralph R. VanDerHyden. She is the devoted mother of Mary Truman, Mandi Conroy and her husband, Christopher and the late Madelyn Flagler. Wood and Margaret Neff Wood, she was born in Sidney Center, Delaware County, N.Y. on March 26, 1913. Sarah received her College Entrance Diploma with honors from Walton High School in 1928, and matriculated to Vassar College where she received her bachelor of arts degree in 1932. A long time resident of the Albany area and a New York State Government employee, Sarah lived in Delmar since the mid 1950s where she was very active in local charities and public service. Sarah loved to travel and her trips to Asia, South America, Africa, and Europe provided her with ample opportunities to create prize-winning photographs and slides. Her main passion was reading, often having five or more books going at the same time. A very familiar figure at the Bethlehem Public Library, she also collected a personal library of over a 2000 volumes. Sarah was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence M. Wood and her sister, Shirley N. Wood. She is survived by her brother, Lewis S. Wood; her niece, Laureen M. Jauch of Bethel Park, Pa. and nephew, Lawrence M. Wood of Penfield, N.Y.; three grandnieces, three grandnephews, two great-grandnieces and two great-grandnephews. A private memorial for the family was conducted in Upper St. Clair, and interment will be in a family plot in Sidney Center, N.Y. at a date yet to be determined. Sarah donated many hours to and provided financially for the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the Bethlehem Public Library, and a remembrance in her name to any of these agencies would have pleased her greatly. She was born October 15, 1930 in Auburn, N.Y., the daughter of Herman and Mary Rose Davis. Jean was well known for her work on genealogy in New York State and her indexing of historical records for the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and the Albany New York State Library. She was author and publisher of over 20 books on New York State Church records. Jean was member of the General Peter Gansevoort Chapter of the DAR in Albany, N.Y. Member and past chairman of the Central New York Genealogical Society in Syracuse, N.Y. and the Col. Jonathan Bayard Smith DAR Chapter of Middletown, Ohio. Jean as a child and wife lived in many locations in New York State. She spent many years in Horseheads, N.Y., East Greenbush, N.Y., Liverpool, N.Y., Middletown, Ohio, San Dimas, Calif., Zephyrhills, Fla. and more recently in Castleton, N.Y. She was married to her loving husband of 56 years, Spencer Eugene (Gene) Worden. Jean is survived by her daughters, Susan Barber (Joe) of Coppell, Texas, Sheryl Ryan (Dennis) of East Greenbush, N.Y. and Sally Richards (Brian) of Middletown, Pa. She is the cherished grandmother of Lisa Kelly Rodriguez (Victor), Linda Marra Galligan (Thomas), Michelle Marra Fiacco (Mauro), Heather Beauchamp Shaumberger (Robert), Christopher Beauchamp and great-grandmother of Tyler Fiacco, Madison Beauchamp, Jadin Fiacco, and Victoria Rodriguez.
