Brooks Sr., 58, of Snooks Corners Road, Amsterdam, N.Y., passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon, August 23, 2005 at home. Born on June 7, 1947 in Schenectady, N.Y., he was a son of the late Kenneth and Flora Finch Brooks. Mr. Brooks received his education in the Middleburgh school system. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. Mr. Brooks was employed as a machinist at General Electric Company until retiring with a disability. Mr. Brooks is survived by two daughters, Gine C. Brooks of Gloversville and Elizabeth M. Brooks of Amsterdam; two sons, Kenneth M. Brooks Jr. and Sean Brooks, both of Amsterdam; one brother, Dale Brooks of Schoharie; two sisters, Sandra Berical of Middleburgh and Brenda Brooks of Va.; and his significant other, Jill Schoonmaker of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, N.Y. RENSSELAER Gary E. Clark, 51, of Rensselaer, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2005 at his home, with his wife by his side. He was born in Albany and was a Colonie resident for most of his life. Gary was a 1972 graduate of Colonie Central High School and attended the Junior College of Albany. He was previously manager at Sears Automotive and currently worked as managing partner for Bridgestone/Firestone for the last 16 years. Gary was a loving husband and proud father. He enjoyed being outdoors and vacationing at the ocean in Cape Cod. Gary was extremely meticulous about the appearance of his home, lawn and landscaping. He is the beloved son of Raymond G. Clark and the late Gloria M. Clark. Gary is the devoted husband of Anne Marie Clark. He is the cherished father of Matthew J. Clark of Colonie. He is the brother of Colonel (Ret.) Raymond J. Clark, U.S.A.R. and his wife Kathleen of Guilderland; half-brother of Richard P. Clark and his wife Carolyn of Chelmsford, England. He is the loving uncle of Kyle E. Clark and Capt. Todd J. Clark, U.S. Army, and his wife Shelly and their children, Collin and Madison. Gary is the favorite brother-in-law of Michelle A. Rosenberger. Also surviving are numerous cousins and friends. Coluccio, 72, of Albany, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Margery was born on May 3, 1933 in Albany, the daughter of the late James Carey and Irene Ralston Carey. She was happily retired from her years of waitressing at the Tom Sawyer Motor Inn and Son's Tavern. Margery was known to many as Ma and touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. She enjoyed traveling with her family and visiting with her many friends. She will be greatly missed by all. Margery is the beloved mother of Tina Goldstein and her husband Hal, Joseph Coluccio and his wife Danielle and Thomas Coluccio and his wife Nicole. She is the cherished grandmother of Richard Albright, Marc Albright, Aimee (Albright) O'Keefe, Kristy Coluccio, Samantha Coluccio, Michael Goldstein and Herbie Goldstein. D'Addona, 82, of Maplewood Manor, formerly of Burning Bush Blvd., died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the Maplewood Manor. Born on January 27, 1923 in Montecalvo, Italy, he was the son of the late Felice and Angela Blundo D'Addona. Angelo was employed at the Flatbush Federal Savings and Loan, where he worked for over 30 years until retiring as vice president in 1988. Angelo and his family are members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Brooklyn and he attended St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park while a resident of Ballston Lake. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy Noble D'Addona, whom he married October 27, 1946; three loving daughters and their husbands, Linda and Tom Irwin of Clifton Park, Annemarie and Peter Caruana of Malta and Nancy and Joe Olivo of Staten Island; two brothers, Nunzio and Vicenzo D'Addona, both of Brooklyn, and a sister, Grace Amato of Calif.; four precious grandchildren, Kristin and Thomas Irwin of Clifton Park and Peter and Anthony Caruana of Malta. She was born in Troy, N.Y., daughter of the late Peter and Mary McEnaney Finnen. She was educated at St. Patrick's School, Troy and was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church, Cohoes. Eileen was a member of the Cohoes Council #192 Columbiettes. Eileen had been employed by N.Y.S. Department of Labor, retiring in 1984. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Joseph S. Daley and her son, J. Michael Daley. She was the sister of the late Margaret Finnen Blanchard, who died July 14, 2005, and her late brothers, Francis, John and Edward Finnen. Mrs. Drowne was born in New York City, had lived many years in Castleton and, for the last 21 years, resided in Chatham. She was a past matron of the East Greenbush Eastern Star and a member of both the Castleton-Schodack Senior Citizens and St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Castleton. Duncan, 86, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Albany Memorial after a brief illness. Born on August 2, 1919 in Esperance, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William and Ethel Brown Noonan. Nellie was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard (Jack) Duncan who died in 1983. Nellie was employed for many years by the former Journey's Inn in West Sand Lake, Albany Medical Center and retired from the Eastern Tablet Company in Albany after many years. She also worked for many years in Moreno and Calacone's Liquor store in Watervliet after her retirement. She was a former president of the PTA for School #1, a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Schuyler Heights Fire Company, where her husband Jack was the chaplain for many years and a member and deaconess of Jermain Memorial Presbyterian Church. Nellie dedicated herself to caring for several of her dear friends, some through their illnesses and for some, through their final stages of life. She constantly amazed all those who knew her with her strength and stamina of caring. She gave unselfishly of herself to others, devoting herself always to her family and friends. In her free time she also enjoyed playing scramble with her sisters and loved working in her yard. Nellie celebrated the joy in every day and always found the bright side to each situation. There were no strangers to Nellie, only friends she had yet to meet. Nellie is survived by her daughter, Marcia Masterson and her fiance, David S. Agnew; her loving granddaughters, Rachel Masterson, Ashley N. Masterson and Lisa A. Masterson; her former son-in-law, Frank J. Masterson, all of Watervliet; her beloved sisters, Catherine McLeod of Saugerties and Rita Haswell of Watkins Glen; her sister-in-law, Emily Noonan of Walterboro, S.C.; her many nieces, nephews and cousins and her faithful canine companion, Otis. She had worked for the New York Telephone Company, Albany County District Attorney's Office and retired in 1973 from the NYS Health Department. Dorothea was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Forster, in 1960. She was the mother of Susan Forster of Albany; Nana of Kristen Grasso (Joseph); great-grandmother of Courtney Lane; aunt of Jay Tartell (Donna); sister of the late Elvira Tartell. Red Gabriel Sr., died Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. Red was born in Colonie on December 7, 1919, son of the late Biagio and Annunziata Ruzza Gabriele. Red attended Roesselville High School and was a lifelong resident of Colonie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 33rd Infantry Division during World War II. He worked as a boilermaker for the N.Y. Central Railroad and for Union 197. He retired from the South Colonie School District after 27 years of service as a school bus driver. He was a member of the Robert L. Weininger Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8692, the Latham Knights of Columbus Council 3394 and past treasurer of the Redmen Bowling League at Sunset Recreation Bowling Center. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Red was predeceased by his wife of nearly 47 years, Charlene Salati Gabriel. He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Louis) Santandrea of Guilderland and two sons, Raymond (Isabelle) Gabriel Jr. of Colonie and Richard (Lucretia) Gabriel of Albany; one sister, Anna Quadrini of Albany and a brother, Patrick Gabriel Sr. of Guilderland. He retired in 1980 as an operating engineer with Local 106 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, sky diving, boat racing, bowling, snowmobiling, pleasure flying experimental aircraft and built his own 2-place helicopter. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a pilot until 1945. He then remained in the Army Reserve, retiring as a major in 1971. He was employed for the Hartford Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1993. He was a volunteer at St. Peter's Hospital until 2004 and a member of the Delmar 2nd Milers. He was an avid runner and tennis player. Truly one of a kind, Ray was passionate, caring, loving, funny and always respectful. He was a wonderful father, brother, grandfather and husband. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Van Valkenburgh Marshall. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, having served on the USS Brewster during World War II. Ray worked for 42 years as the hospital locksmith at Albany Medical Center. He loved spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors. He is survived by his four children, Robert (Kelly) Marshall Sr., Raymond (Mary Ann) Marshall Jr., John Marshall and Patricia (Rich) Brenn. Morales, Carmen ALBANY, N.Y. Carmen Maria Morales, born Carmen Maria Oyola, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Teresian House, Albany, after a long illness. Carmen was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico on July 14, 1927 and moved to New York City in November of 1945 to marry her fiance, Jose Morales Sr., also of Puerto Rico. She worked in the garment district and later at Montefiore Hospital in the housekeeping department. Carmen was a dominant figure in her family and strove to insure that her two sons achieved an escape from poverty by earning an education. Her sons are now retirees from the NYS Education Department and the management sector of Verizon, respectively. Her grandchildren are all college graduates with degrees in architecture, speech pathology and physical therapy. Although Carmen traveled to Israel, Europe and Mexico, she remained unassuming and cognizant of her lack of formal education. Her single mindedness inspired respect and made her family aware of her presence and her goals for them. Carmen was predeceased by her husband Jose, who died in 1998. She is survived by her sons, Jose J. Morales of Albany and William J. (Eileen) Morales of Denver, N.C. In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren, Melissa Morales of Rochester, Katherine Morales of Williamsville, N.Y., Lauren and Christopher (Miranda) Morales, all of Denver, N.C., and Robert Trautman Jr. of Swain, N.Y. Born in Schenectady on February 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Ralph and Angeline Carbone Negro. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his heroic service in the Philippines. He was employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for many years as a foreman. He was a lifetime member of the Watervliet VFW Post #729 and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed parades, reading and was an animal lover. He was the husband of the late Marie A. Brant Nigro, who died in 1994. Father of Scherrie M. (Terry) Minor of Johnsonville, Michael G. Pelham Jr., Robert H. SCOTIA, N.Y. Robert H. Pelham Jr., 75, of Bruce Street, Scotia, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 of natural causes after a long illness, at home with his family at his side. Born July 1, 1930 in Schenectady, N.Y., he was the son of the late Robert H. and Edith (Zea) Pelham Sr. Mr. Pelham was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Scotia High and Wharton School University of Pennsylvania. He was employed as an administrative analyst for NYS Department of Transportation in Albany, N.Y. for 27 years. He was a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Transportation Corps. Mr. Pelham was a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time at camp with his family, boating and working on jigsaw puzzles. Mr. Pelham was a master mason in 1971 joining St. George's Lodge No. 6 in Schenectady; served as master in 1976 and later as secretary and was a member of St. George's Fellowcraft Club; member of Cyprus Shrine Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. in Albany and the Cyprus Marching Band, serving as president for several years; member of the Schenectady Shrine Club; member of the Valley of Schenectady Scottish Rite Bodies, belonging to the Sigma Lodge of Perfection, council chapter and consistory and served as 32nd degree director for several years; life member of St. Andrew's Chapter Order of DeMolay, serving as the advisory council chairman; member of Albany Court #77 Royal Order of Jesters, serving for several years as treasurer; Legion of Honor, Order of DeMolay; and past patron of Beukendaal Chapter O.E.S. Dayton Samuel Sandholt, 81, passed away after a long illness on July 18, 2005 at the Health and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin. Born on April 25, 1924 in Troy, N.Y., to the late Samuel and Kathryn (Bowers) Sandholt. He graduated from Lansingburgh High School in June, 1943. Inducted into the U.S. Army in July 1943, he was seriously wounded while fighting on the Normandy front in 1944, as a member of the Infantry's 42nd Rainbow Division. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a machinist for the Watervliet Arsenal and was retired from the Voorheesville Army Depot. He resided in Marshfield, Vt. for the past 35 years. Predeceased by his second wife, Mary Quinn and survived by first wife, Consuelo de Torres (Goodwin); two daughters, Susan Wheland and Andrea Sandholt; sisters, Kathryn Jensen and Irma Campbell of Troy, N.Y. and Arlene Beckwith of Alexandria, Va.; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He leaves behind long-standing friends and caregivers, Becky Swann and her son, Dwayne and Ruth LaCombe and her son, Adam. Smith, 95, of Defreestville, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at his home with his family at his side. Mr. Smith was born in Brooklyn, the son of the late Matthew and Annie Smith. He had lived in Defreestville since 1948. While in high school, Mr. Smith worked on a garbage boat. After graduating, he went to work for Mobil Oil Co. Mr. Smith worked on oil tankers, transporting oil around the world. He received his tug boat captain's license in 1935. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines. After the war, he captained tug boats from the Great Lakes to New York Harbor and Albany. He retired in 1974. Mr. Smith was an avid gardener, a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Rensselaer, a member of the church's Holy Names Society, Rensselaer Council #267 Knights of Columbus, Troy Elks Lodge #141. He was Elk of the Year for 1986-1987 and also volunteered his time with the Boy Scouts. Survivors include his wife, Grace Foster Smith; a daughter, JoAnne (Peter) DeFrancesco; two sons, John J. and Mark R. Smith; a sister, Ann Elizabeth Bryer; a brother, Matthew E. Smith; grandchildren, Brenda (Scott) Ruscetta, Amy (Don) Anderson, Sean, Cole, Sierra, Ryan and Chelsea Smith and Cris Coulston; great-grandchildren, Jillian, Reagan and Aynsley Anderson and Kaitlin Ruscetta; one nephew, three nieces and six great-nieces and nephews. Terlecky, Wasyl WATERVLIET Wasyl Terlecky, 80, beloved husband for 60 years of Kateryna Terlecky, passed away at his home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 24, 2005. Mr. Terlecky was born in Stari Sambir, Ukraine on March 13, 1925 and was the son of the late Ivan and Pelagia Smerechanski Terlecky. Mr. Terlecky came to the United States from Germany in 1948 and, for two years, resided in Minersville, Pa. before moving to Watervliet in 1950. Mr. Terlecky was employed as a plumber by the former Albany Felt Company, now Albany International, in Menands for 37 years and retired in 1990. While employed at Albany Felt, he also simultaneously served as a volunteer plant fireman. Mr. Terlecky was a longtime member and former president of the Ukrainian Club in Watervliet. He was a 55-year communicant of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet and enjoyed membership in the Brotherhood of St. Nicholas Church where he served as president for five years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Terlecky is also survived by his son, Michael Terlecky and wife Dolores of Middletown, N.Y.; daughter, Irena Terlecky Roman and husband Slawko of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; son, Dr. Wasyl Terlecky Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Centerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Andres Terlecky, Gregory Steven Terlecky, Anna Terlecky Clarke and her husband Caleb, Wasyl Terlecky III, Andrew Terlecky, Andrea Roman and Nicholas Roman; sister, Anna Melen of Kharchiv, Ukraine; and also several nieces and nephews. Welch, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar. He worked in the estimating department for Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester for over 30 years, retiring in 1974. He then lived in Fla. for 26 years. His late wife, Doris B. Welch, passed away in 1997. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill Schieffelin of Guilderland; a grandson, Steven Schieffelin and his wife Barbara of Irvington, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Sandra Schieffelin of Clifton Park; two great-grandchildren, Celia and Andrew Schieffelin; and several nieces and nephews.
