Born in Utica, N.Y., he was the son of the late Walter and Edith Kowalski Burton. Bill had resided in the Capital District area for the past 50 years and in Berlin for the last 30 years. He had been a self-employed draftsman for a number of years and had at one time owned the former Nite-Cap Inn in Troy. Bill had retired from DeNooyer Chevrolet in Colonie, where he had done prep work and parts delivery. Survivors include a sister, Claudia Malecki of West Hempstead, N.Y.; three nieces and three nephews. Bill was also the brother of the late Margaret Sanders and Delores Schroeder. Coluccio, 72, of Albany, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Margery was born on May 3, 1933 in Albany, the daughter of the late James Carey and Irene Ralston Carey. She was happily retired from her years of waitressing at the Tom Sawyer Motor Inn and Son's Tavern. Margery was known to many as Ma and touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. She enjoyed traveling with her family and visiting with her many friends. She will be greatly missed by all. Margery is the beloved mother of Tina Goldstein and her husband Hal, Joseph Coluccio and his wife Danielle and Thomas Coluccio and his wife Nicole. She is the cherished grandmother of Richard Albright, Marc Albright, Aimee (Albright) O'Keefe, Kristy Coluccio, Samantha Coluccio, Michael Goldstein and Herbie Goldstein. She is the mother-in-law of Ellen Albright. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Cooper, 79 years, of Westerlo, passed away suddenly at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. on August 23, 2005. He was born in Jersey City, N.J. on April 10, 1926, son of the late Henry and Alice (Risen) Cooper. Robert was a retired manager for A&P Supermarkets, having managed stores in Elsmere, Coxsackie and Ravena. Serving his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, he was a highly decorated veteran. Serving in Central Europe and the Rhineland, he received the Bronze Star Medal, the European Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. His unit, Co. A 778th Tank BN received a Unit Citation for their part in repelling the German 82nd Corps offensive to retain vital ground near Lampaden. To quote the citation, On 6 March 1945 to 7 March 1945, these units, exhibiting unwavering fortitude and indomitable tenacity, successfully protected the division bridgehead in the face of overwhelming odds. Bob will also be remembered as the Hilltown TV repairman and an active Republican party member. He was also a member of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife Marion (Dunbar) Cooper; two sons, Robert H. Cooper and his wife Carol of Westerlo, Richard J. Cooper of Westerlo; a daughter, Gail Bushnell of Berne, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Wayne Cooper, Lori Gebe and her husband Matthew, Steven Cooper and his wife Mary, Thomas and Allison Bushnell; also six great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Cooper of Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Al worked as a salesman for Remington Rand in Albany for many years and retired as district sales manager in the late 1960s. He was a member of the Altamont Reformed Church and the Guilderland Elks Lodge. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille Cary Dart, in 1995. Survivors include one son, James A. Ferguson Sr., 59, of N. Reservoir St., Cohoes, died Thursday, August 25, 2005 at his residence, embraced by his loving family. Born in Scranton, Pa., he was the son of the late Donald F. and Valera Prosser Ferguson Sr., stepson of the late Lawrence Ireland and husband of the late Jean M. Chevalier Ferguson, who died October 11, 2004. Stuart was raised in Rotterdam, attended Draper High School and graduated from Linton High School in 1964. He was employed as a truck driver for over 30 years with various companies and retired from Independent Food in Burlington, Vt. in 2001. Stuart was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with four battle stars, Army Commendation Medal, Expert Badge Rifle M16 and Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M14. Stuart was a life member of the National Chapter NY 38 DAV and the VFW Post 05989 in Menands. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping. Stuart is survived by his devoted son, Stuart G. Ferguson Jr. and his fiancee Miranda of Colonie; his loving stepdaughters, Susan Castagnier and her husband Brian of Cohoes, Catherine L. Wohlleber and her husband Steven of Berlin, Micheline A. She had worked for the New York Telephone Company, Albany County District Attorney's Office and retired in 1973 from the NYS Health Department. Dorothea was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Forster, in 1960. She was the mother of Susan Forster of Albany; Nana of Kristen Grasso (Joseph); great-grandmother of Courtney Lane; aunt of Jay Tartell (Donna); sister of the late Elvira Tartell. Red was born in Colonie on December 7, 1919, son of the late Biagio and Annunziata Ruzza Gabriele. Red attended Roesselville High School and was a lifelong resident of Colonie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 33rd Infantry Division during World War II. He worked as a boilermaker for the N.Y. Central Railroad and for Union 197. He retired from the South Colonie School District after 27 years of service as a school bus driver. He was a member of the Robert L. Weininger Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8692, the Latham Knights of Columbus Council 3394 and past treasurer of the Redmen Bowling League at Sunset Recreation Bowling Center. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Red was predeceased by his wife of nearly 47 years, Charlene Salati Gabriel. He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Louis) Santandrea of Guilderland and two sons, Raymond (Isabelle) Gabriel Jr. of Colonie and Richard (Lucretia) Gabriel of Albany; one sister, Anna Quadrini of Albany and a brother, Patrick Gabriel Sr. of Guilderland. Pelham Jr., 75, of Bruce Street, Scotia, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 of natural causes after a long illness, at home with his family at his side. Born July 1, 1930 in Schenectady, N.Y., he was the son of the late Robert H. and Edith (Zea) Pelham Sr. Mr. Pelham was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Scotia High and Wharton School University of Pennsylvania. He was employed as an administrative analyst for NYS Department of Transportation in Albany, N.Y. for 27 years. He was a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Transportation Corps. Mr. Pelham was a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time at camp with his family, boating and working on jigsaw puzzles. Mr. Pelham was a master mason in 1971 joining St. George's Lodge No. 6 in Schenectady; served as master in 1976 and later as secretary and was a member of St. George's Fellowcraft Club; member of Cyprus Shrine Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. in Albany and the Cyprus Marching Band, serving as president for several years; member of the Schenectady Shrine Club; member of the Valley of Schenectady Scottish Rite Bodies, belonging to the Sigma Lodge of Perfection, council chapter and consistory and served as 32nd degree director for several years; life member of St. Andrew's Chapter Order of DeMolay, serving as the advisory council chairman; member of Albany Court #77 Royal Order of Jesters, serving for several years as treasurer; Legion of Honor, Order of DeMolay; and past patron of Beukendaal Chapter O.E.S. Smith, 95, of Defreestville, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at his home with his family at his side. Mr. Smith was born in Brooklyn, the son of the late Matthew and Annie Smith. He had lived in Defreestville since 1948. While in high school, Mr. Smith worked on a garbage boat. After graduating, he went to work for Mobil Oil Co. Mr. Smith worked on oil tankers, transporting oil around the world. He received his tug boat captain's license in 1935. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines. After the war, he captained tug boats from the Great Lakes to New York Harbor and Albany. He retired in 1974. Mr. Smith was an avid gardener, a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Rensselaer, a member of the church's Holy Names Society, Rensselaer Council #267 Knights of Columbus, Troy Elks Lodge #141. He was Elk of the Year for 1986-1987 and also volunteered his time with the Boy Scouts. Welch, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar. Mr. Welch was born in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late Harry and Sarah (Parker) Welch. He worked in the estimating department for Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester for over 30 years, retiring in 1974. He then lived in Fla. for 26 years. His late wife, Doris B. Welch, passed away in 1997. Wilson, 82, of Our Lady of Hope Residence and formerly of Pleasant View Avenue in Albany, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Warren and Mildred Barns Wilson. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Smith Wilson, who died August 14, 1998. Jesse was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver for the A&P Warehouse in Albany for over 29 years. He later worked for the Frontier Oil Delivery Co. in Buffalo until his retirement. He is survived by his loving daughter, Sr. Bernadette Wilson LSP of Latham. Jesse was predeceased by a stepbrother, Edward Kelly.
