(Bob) RAVENA Robert (Bob) S. Albano, 68, died Sunday, October 2, 2005. He was born and raised in Ravena, a Christian Brothers Academy and Hudson Valley Community College graduate. Bob was employed at Marshall's Transportation Center in Ravena for more than 35 years. He had a passion for people and loved to spend time with his family. He was a musically talented and giving man, who will be missed by those whose lives he touched. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Ann Wittenberg Albano and his parents, the Honorable Sylvester J. and Frances Albano. He was the devoted father of Mrs. Deborah (Henry) Petersen of Saratoga, Mrs. Cheryl (John) Sheridan of Hannacroix, Mrs. Tricia (David) Hartle of Latham and Mr. Robert Scott Albano and his wife Cheryl Ann of Marshall, Minn.; proud grandfather Papa of Jacey and Garianne Sheridan, Jodi Hartle and Kira, Kayla and Blake Albano. GREEN ISLAND Alice M. Almasy, 88, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Alice was born on June 18, 1917 in Cobleskill and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mae Crewell Cooper. She worked as a cleaner for Boardman's Limited in Albany for over 30 years. Then she worked for Lewis Equipment for several years before retiring. She enjoyed reading books and writing letters. Alice is survived by her sons, Bill Almasy and Thomas Manny (Sandy) Almasy; her brothers, Lewis and Karlton Cooper; her sisters, Virginia Vakoutis, Bonnie French and Gloria Cooper; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Almasy and her daughter, Victoria Gardy. Antolick, Edward D. SCHAGHTICOKE Edward D. Antolick, 54, of Route 40 in Schaghticoke, died Monday morning, October 3, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 8, 1950 to Joseph Antolick of Schaghticoke and the late Dorothy Labusohr Antolick. Husband of Linda Melino Antolick whom he married on July 28, 2002. He was a graduate of Hoosic Valley Central School, Oneonta State College and received his master's in special education from Russell Sage. Ed worked for Queststar III at the Rensselaer County Troy Jail, where he taught GED classes. He was also a certified special education and social studies teacher. A member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mechanicville. Ed was an outdoor enthusiast, he particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was also an avid dart player who played in the local league. Survivors in addition to his father and wife include two daughters, Jennifer and Melissa; one sister, Beth and her husband Fred Schram of Valley Falls and their two children, Paul and Amy Schram; also survived by his canine companion, Beannie. Folderman Behnke, 97, formerly of Hidley Road, North Greenbush, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush after a long illness. Born on the Bloomingdale Farm on Edwards Road in North Greenbush, she was the daughter of the late Marcus and Hattie Folderman and wife of the late Elmer H. Behnke. She had resided in North Greenbush most of her life. Mrs. Behnke was a homemaker and for many years worked with her husband logging at their saw mill on Old 56 Road in East Poestenkill. She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill. Survivors include a daughter, Elsie Iwanowicz, also of Evergreen Commons, East Greenbush; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Benjamin, June Eva Speidel DELMAR June Eva Speidel Benjamin, 88, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 30, 2005 from heart failure at the St. Peter's Hospice Inn. She died the way she had wanted to, quickly, with little effort and no pain, thanks to the efforts of the staff at the Hospice. June married Richard E. Benjamin early and they spent many years together, living first on Spring Street in Albany and then on Killian Park in Colonie and finally on The Crossway in Elsmere. Richard passed away in 1981. They had two sons, John R. (Jack) Benjamin of Georgia and Joel W. Benjamin of Altamont, N.Y. Jack has a daughter, Stacy and a son, Mark and Joel has three children, Ian, Brian and Alexandra. June was predeceased by her brother, Richard, who had two daughters, Sandy and Bonnie, who live in Washington State. June had numerous grandchildren. June had a zest for life and loved to dance from the time she was a child until she had a stroke a few years ago and had to be placed in the Teresian House Nursing Home on Washington Avenue, Extension. She was a member of the Bethlehem Players, the Progress Club and both the United Methodist Church on Kenwood Avenue and the Reformed Church on Delaware Avenue. Subsequent to the death of her husband, June formed a long lasting relationship with William McGoey of Cranell Place in Elsmere. They lived separately but were very happy with each other's companionship for many years. William had two sons, Rick and Bill Jr. who have been close and loyal friends to June until she passed away on Friday. William predeceased her. Browne, 67, of Halfmoon, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born November 7, 1937 in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., he had lived in the Halfmoon area for the past 13 years. He was educated at St. Bonaventure University, class of 1960. Mr. Browne served in the Army from 1960 to 1965. Robert was a senior vice president of data services with Fleet Bank in Albany for 25 years before retiring in 1997. Survivors include his ex-wife and caregiver, Rosemary W. Cietek, John Joseph WYNANTSKILL John Joseph Cietek, age 78, husband of Regina Huether Cietek and the late Isabel McGrath Cietek, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late John and Anna Fitzgerald Cietek. He was a graduate of Heatly High School in Green Island and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. He was employed as a chemist at Republic Steel for 12 years and was a supervisor for the Troy Record Circulation Dept., retiring 16 years ago. He lived in Wynantskill for over 30 years and was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill. Mr. Cietek was also a member of the Watervliet Lodge of Elks #186, the Watervliet American Legion #1615 and the VFW Post #563. Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Timothy Cietek of Guilderland and Robert (Bernice) Cietek of Colonie. He was predeceased by a son John J. Cietek Jr., two sisters, Betty Anne Ryan and Mary Leffler and two brothers, Thomas and James Cietek. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Pete Clark Jr., 70, passed away at his home in Brewster, on Saturday, October 1, 2005 surrounded by his family, following a courageous ten-year battle with cancer. Born March 23, 1935, in Utica, N.Y., Mr. Clark was the son of John H. Clark Sr. and Regina Clark (Dibble). He graduated from Richfield Springs High School in 1953 and from Colgate University in 1958. After serving in the United States Army, Mr. Clark began a career in education, earning a master's degree in education and certification in school district administration at SUNY Oneonta, Albany. He taught high school social studies and coached varsity basketball at Cooperstown High School and was a school principal for the Gilboa-Conesville Central School. From 1971 to 1978, Mr. Clark was the superintendent of schools for, respectively, Springfield and Gilboa-Conesville Central School Districts. In 1979, Mr. Clark became the superintendent of schools for the Stillwater Central School District and remained there until his retirement in 1994. A communicant at Our Lady of the Cape Roman Catholic Church, Mr. Clark was a loving and wonderful husband, father, brother, son and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Carol; his sons, John III (Maria) of Valatie, N.Y. and Stephen (Denise) of Queensbury, N.Y.; his daughter, Kathryn of Boston, Mass.; and six grandchildren. Mr. Clark is also survived by his sisters, JoAnn Buell, Marcia Wendth (Arthur), Mary Chi (Yong-Min); and aunts, Eileen Dibble and Jeanette Smith. Following a lengthy illness, Mary Anne, age 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital on Saturday, October 1, 2005. She was born on August 12, 1946, the daughter of Mary (Gordon) Hettie and the late George J. Hettie. Mary Anne is survived by her loving sisters, Carol Clarke and Emily (Peter) Parisi, and her brothers, George (Chris) Hettie Jr. and James (Mari Bennett) Hettie. She is also survived by her cherished nieces, Kassandra Parisi and Gabrielle Hettie, and nephews, George Anthony Hettie and Judson Parisi. In addition, Mary Anne is survived by her uncle and sometime traveling companion, C. Arthur Gordon, as well as an aunt, Gladys Hettie, and cousins, Mary Emily, Michael Hettie, Karen Link and Kevin Gordon. Lastly, she is survived by her many, many friends who were so much a part of her life. Mary Anne was a native and lifelong resident of Albany. She graduated with high honors from Cardinal McCloskey High School and received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta. Mary Anne earned her master's in education from the State University of New York at Albany. Mary Anne taught hundreds of children to read during her 34-year tenure at School 19 in Albany and, in 2001, was named teacher of the year. When not teaching, she made numerous trips to England, Scotland and Ireland. Her other travels took Mary Anne to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, China, Russia, Japan, Kenya, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere. Mary Anne also loved her visits to New York City and was especially fond of Broadway musicals. She was also an avid gardener, a gourmet cook and baker of the highest quality. Mary Anne made richer the lives of everyone she knew. She will be sorely missed. Born on October 18, 1925 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Caterina (Peruzzi) Martiniano and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Martiniano was employed with General Electric in Schenectady for 38 years as a quality control technician, retiring in 1984. Mr. Martiniano was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Schenectady, Corpus Christi Church in Ushers and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wakefield. He enjoyed singing with church and community choral groups, as well as supporting and boasting of his grandchildren's accomplishments. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in downtown Schenectady. He was born on October 20, 1915 in Lynn, Mass., the son of the late Charles F. and Martha Magrane McCahill. Woods served in World War II as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Hotchkiss School and Harvard University where he received his B.A. and J.D. and he also received honorary degrees from both the Albany Medical College and Siena College. He retired from the legal department of General Electric after 26 years. He was an accomplished man serving in many community activities such as: president of Albany Medical Center Foundation, director and president of the Albany Boys' Club, trustee and chairman of Albany Medical College, president and trustee of the Hotchkiss School and trustee of Siena College. He served as a director of the State Bank of Albany and Kamyr Corp. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Batcheller McCahill; sons, Michael (Barbara Ann) of North Andover, Mass., Woods Jr. (Pearl) of Lake Placid, N.Y., Philip (Mary Elizabeth) of Rochester, N.Y.; daughter, Martha Cowden (Robert) of Newton, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Peter, Susannah, Robert, Kate, David and Martha. McKeever, Joseph A. TROY Joseph A. McKeever, 75, of Troy, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Hourigan McKeever and the husband of Mary A. McKeever. He attended Troy parochial schools, graduated from the second class of HVCC and attended Siena College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., later serving as a crew chief on long range bombers. He was employed by Norton Company and Bendix and retired from the New York State Dept. of Tax and Finance after almost 30 years of service. Mr. McKeever was a 45 year member of the Troy Elks #141 and a lifetime member of the Emerald Club. He was also a member of the Tibbits Cadets and the Veterans of Lansingburgh. He was formerly a member of St. Michael's Church and is currently a communicant of St. Augustine's Church, Troy. He was an avid card player and enjoyed horse racing. He loved golfing, history, fishing, travel and the City of Troy. He also loved his family and his Irish heritage. Survivors in addition to his wife, include his daughter, Maureen E. Regan and her husband David; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kaitlyn Regan of Glendale, Calif.; a sister, Mary Arnold of Troy; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers, Francis, Thomas, James and John McKeever. The funeral will be on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Daniel D. Friedel Niland, 73, of Halfway House Road, died Monday, October 3, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, following a long illness. She was born on August, 21 1932 in Cohoes, daughter of the late Herman and Edith Brenzel Friedel. Mrs. Niland was born and raised in Cohoes, N.Y. and later moved to Mechanicville in 1957 where she lived the rest of her life. She was an employee of The Tagson Paper Co. in Mechanicville until retiring in 1987. Lois enjoyed cooking, bowling, and gardening. The most precious times of her life were spent with her family whom she loved dearly. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother who gave all she had to see that they were all happy. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, James H. Niland whom she married September 26, 1974. She is also survived by her daughter, Patricia (James) Mitchell of Stafford, Va.; two sons, John (Gloria) Niland and Thomas (Tina) Niland, both of Stillwater.
