(Oberst) Carr, 74, of Latham, N.Y., died peacefully in the company of her family Wednesday evening, October 5, 2005. She was passionate about her family, friends, faith and teaching. She especially loved her granddaughters. Anne loved adventure, travel, the Adirondack Mountains and ice skating. Born in Saranac Lake, N.Y. on July 16, 1931, she was the daughter of Christopher Edward Oberst and Mary Kate Conway Oberst. Mrs. Carr is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert E. Carr; three children and two grandchildren, Michael Thomas Carr of Keene Valley, N.Y., Joseph Patrick Carr, his wife Mary Kay S. Carr and their two children (granddaughters), Megan and Jenna Carr of Franklin, Wis. and Maureen Carr Domaratz and her husband Patrick A. Domaratz of Rochester, N.Y. She is further survived by her sister, Kathleen O. McManus and her husband Peter of Niskayuna, N.Y. DuBois Jr., 75, of Willow St., Cohoes, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, embraced by his loving family. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Bertha Elmer DuBois Sr. and beloved husband of Sophie Waz DuBois of Cohoes. Art was a lifelong resident of Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School. He was employed in the turbine department with General Electric in Schenectady and with Ford Motor Company in Green Island in the radiator department. He retired after 15 years of service with Republic Steel in Troy as a foundry worker and was a member of the PAA/PNA group 2462 in Cohoes. Art was dedicated to his family. He especially enjoyed the family gatherings on holidays and special occasions. He also enjoyed camping and was a member of St. Michael's Parish in Cohoes. In addition to his wife, Art is survived by his devoted children, Nancy DeVoe and her husband Jeffery of Cohoes, David A. DuBois of Cohoes, Kenneth A. DuBois and his wife Margaret of Latham and Gary A. MaMa Wanda Haydel-Joyce, 58, died Monday, October 3, 2005, embraced by her loving family at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in La., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Stella Colin Haydel and beloved wife of Richard J. Joyce of Colonie. Wanda spent most of her life in the Capital District area. She attended Glens Falls High School and was employed for over 20 years at C.R. Bard in Glens Falls. Wanda had a heart of gold and went out of her way for others in need. She touched the hearts of all she met. To know her was to love her and she will remain in our hearts and memories forever. Wanda is survived by her dear and loving husband Richard of 19 years; her devoted children, Jodie L. Fritz-Mastopietro and her husband Stephen of Calif., Janel R. Fritz of Saratoga and Winston L. Fritz Jr. of Mich.; two grandchildren and one on the way. Three brothers, two sisters and many nieces and nephews also survive. Jackson, Lilli (Grass) GLENMONT Lilli (Grass) Jackson was called to be with the Lord on October 4, 2005. She was the beloved wife of the late Milton R. Jackson; loving mother of Beverly Jackson and Lilly (Jackson) Filkins of Rensselaer, Barbara Roman of N.J., Kathryn Tarentino and Daniel Jackson of Albany. She was the cherished grandmother of Cindy J. Aguam (Daryle) of Fla., Ronald V. Filkins (Colleen) of Albany, Carl J. Redcross Jr. (Corena) of N.J., Jennifer Tankersley (Blaze) and Leigh Tarentino of Brooklyn, and Bosco Tarentino of Albany. Lilli also leaves behind special in-laws from Utica, N.Y. and Albany. She also is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Joshua, Anthony, Nicole, Brooke, Julia, Alex, Trevor and Brent. Lilli was born on October 11, 1924 in Montreal, Canada and raised in New York City. She married on April 25, 1942 and resided with her family in Albany and subsequently Glenmont. Lilli worked at W.T. Grant Company as a sales manager in the stationery department. A devoted grandmother, Lilli retired from Grant's in 1968 to help raise her three grandchildren. After the passing of her husband, she moved to her own apartment in Van Rensselaer Heights where she lived independently until 2001, when she moved to Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush. Special memories include her favorite nicknames for her children, Snookie, Cookie, Tudy, Reenee and Skeezix. She loved writing, shopping, anything pink, country crafts and any kind of trinket. She collected salt and pepper shakers from all over the world and treasured all of her possessions, especially gifts from her family and close friends. Her memories were important to her, and she meticulously labeled every gift she received and every photo that she took. Her home was always lovingly decorated, with never an empty space to be found on her walls or tabletops. Blessed with wisdom beyond her years, she was always quick to apply a clever old saying to any situation. Always generous and giving, she served as a volunteer for the Rensselaer Senior Citizens, for which she received many awards. In later years, her favorite activity was Bingo. Lilli also attended church services religiously. Since Lilli always wore two or three butterfly clips, she started a fashion trend at the Manor and was fondly referred to as the Butterfly Lady by staff and residents. Lilli's legacy will undoubtedly include her wonderful sense of humor, her friendly and outgoing personality and her unforgettable laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lilli's family is profoundly grateful to the caregivers in Wing C3, to whom we will always be thankful. Their exemplary care and consistent show of love and compassion during her four years there will never be forgotten. With deep gratitude, Lilli's family commends the staff of Hospice of Rensselaer for their support, compassion and understanding in her final days. Jesus has taken his beloved child, home where she has sun without rain, joy without sorrow, and peace without pain. ALBANY Athanasios Thano D. Jeoney, 49, died suddenly Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy after a golf match. He was born in Albany, the son of Rita Demas Jeoney and the late James G. Jeoney. Thano had resided in the Albany area all of his life where he attended Hudson Valley Community College, Troy and graduated from Bentley College, Waltham, Mass. He was a self employed furniture manufacturers' representative and a professional musician. He was a member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church Choir. He was also a volunteer for any need, charity, or fund raiser of the Church. Thano was a member of the Octavo Choir of Schenectady and was part of many bands, throughout his life, the Trio Bel Canto, who toured the world since 1981, the Trojans of New York, but his heart belonged to a local band, P.M.M. They often played at their Albany clubhouse, Inga's. Thano was truly the happiest man anyone could ever meet and he loved his family and friends whole heartedly. He donated many hours to charity work, fund raising and to his life long friendships. He will be deeply missed every day. His passions were laughter, love, family, friends, music, the church, and golf. Every memory of Thano includes his sharing his quick wit, sense of humor, and laughter which will never be forgotten. May his memory be eternal. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, George D. (Pattie) Jeoney II of Albany; an uncle, Alexander J. (Punch) Jeoney of Tucson, Ariz.; an aunt, Anastasia Tsekares of Albany. He was the beloved of Evyenia (Jennie) and Marina. Kuethe, of Johnson Road, Scotia, died peacefully after a long illness on October 3, 2005. He was born in Baltimore, Md. to James Louis Kuethe Sr. and Elizabeth L. Whitson on October 8, 1933. He attended Johns Hopkins University, where he was awarded his B.S. and M.S. degrees and received a Ph.D. at the age of 24. He was a professor of educational psychology who taught at Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University and finally at the University at Albany, from which he retired after almost 30 years. Jim loved the outdoors, especially fishing, birding and gardening and, in recent years, developed a strong interest in genealogy and completed considerable research on his mother's Whitson ancestry. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Maria; and three children, a son, Dean (Rebecca), a stepson, Benjamin Gordon (Randi) and a daughter, Sarah Pai (Thomas); his five grandchildren, Christopher Pai, Emily Pai, Richard Gordon, Isabel Kuethe, and Caroline Kuethe, were a source of constant delight to him. He was born and raised in Albany, graduated from Albany High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh. Kurt was the owner/principal of Blue Lightning Technologies, which provided customized computer and business services to a number of local companies. He was a benevolent and caring person and was especially compassionate with the elderly. Kurt was forever curious and eternally tinkering with anything mechanical. Kurt will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his parents, Lorenz and Kathleen (Flanagan); his brother, Brian; a special cousin, Kelly Musco and her son, Remy Boyea. A large, loving family including many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survives him. Maiello, 87, of Derry, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 2, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Born in Gloversville, December 15, 1917, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lucy Trya Maiello. Mr. Maiello was a decorated World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Infantry. Upon returning to Gloversville, he was employed in the glove industry for many years, retiring from Rubens Gloves. He relocated to Derry in September 2000. Mr. Maiello was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nina Samperi Maiello, whom he married on August 5, 1945; also survived by his sons, Tomario (Terry) Maiello of Seattle and Jerry F. Fox Memorial Hospital Nursing Home. Patsy was born on September 15, 1923, the son of Carmen and Rose (Pedrone) Mastro. He married Gloria LaSacco on September 28, 1946 in Oneonta. Patsy was a lifelong Oneonta resident. He worked for many years as a supervisor for the D&H Railroad. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Oneonta VFW and the Sixth Ward Athletic Club. He is survived by his five children, Rosanne and her husband Carl Miller of Oneonta, Mark and his wife Beth Mastro of Chalfont, Pa., Patrick Mastro of Latham, N.Y., Kim and her husband Kip Trombly of Niskayuna, N.Y. and Jacquie and her husband Steven Thibodean of Cohoes, N.Y.; two sisters, Angeline Mastrangeli of Rochester and Sister Mary Angeline of Oneonta; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Gloria on April 12, 2000; his two brothers, Theodore Mastro and Dominic Mastro; and his sister, Marie Cole. Friends may call at the Lester R. Joanne was born in Pittsfield, Mass. and had lived in Feura Bush and then Coeymans Hollow for 30 years. She worked for the former Dime Savings in Delmar. Joanne was a volunteer at the Ephesian House in Ravena, participated in Christian Music Ministries and was a prayer partner in a local care group. She was a good and blessed friend to many. Survivors include her husband, Normand Mineau of Coeymans Hollow; children, Brenda O'Connor of Bradenton, Fla., Michael (Diane) Mineau and Mark (Mary) Mineau, both of Coeymans Hollow, Kathleen (Herb) VanAnden of Ravena and David (Julie) Mineau of Schaghticoke; brothers, Paul LaBarge and Ralph LaBarge; sister, Dianne Fairbanks; and six grandchildren, Catie, Adam, Jennifer, Angela, Nathan and Justin. Born in Canton, N.Y., she had been a resident of the Capital Region for many years. Ella retired from the NYS Department of Education as a cleaning person. She was a member of the Rebeccah Chapter #94, Pocahanas Chapter #259 and the 3rd Reformed Church in Albany. Rondeau, Martin Ray COHOES Martin George Ray Rondeau, 68, of Remsen St., passed peacefully into God's arms October 4, 2005. Ray was a self-employed general contractor and painter in St. Louis, Mo., as well as Albany. He retired in 1995 and, for the past three years, was employed by Folmsbee's Transportation in Waterford. He went into the U.S. Army at the age of 15 and served in Korea and Germany and was awarded a Purple Heart. Ray was born May 27, 1937 in Ogdensburg to the late Rayfield and Audrey Rondeau. He is the father of Sheila Kay Rondeau and Darryl Ray Rondeau of St. Louis, Mo. and Lawrence Thomas Rondeau of Waterford. Ray was legally separated with Joan Harris Rondeau. Ray is brother to Joan Logan of Ogdensburg, Rick LaFlair of Key West, Fla., Larry LaFlair of Fla. and Paul LaFlair of St. Louis. He is predeceased by brother, Michael. Also survived by grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friend to his beloved Donna. Ray was passionate in his spirit for life. Born in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Page and Irma Sperry. Mr. Sperry was the director of human resources for the New York State Department of Education at the time of his retirement in 1991. After retirement, he worked on the professional development program for Rockefeller College, was a member of the American Arbitration Association, an executive director of ESCOT and was the secretary and on the board of directors for R.P.E.A. Mr. Sperry was an active alumnus of Syracuse University. Philip is the beloved husband of 48 years to Ann M. Sperry; the devoted father of Deborah Sperry Ineson and her husband Robert Ineson and Sheryl Sperry; and the cherished grandfather of Andrew and Maureen Ineson. Mrs. Widdowfield was a life member of the Delmar Progress Club, a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, in which she held various positions, an avid bridge player and a member of the Wednesday-Thursday Bridge Club. She received the Senior Lifetime Achievement Award from Albany-Rensselaer County. Ethel enjoyed knitting and read a book every day.
