STRATFORD Herbert F. Adams, 78, of Stewart Landing Road, died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at his daughter Maureen's home after a short illness. Mr. Adams was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He worked for the New York Telephone Company for 33 years, retiring as a sales manager in 1982. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Adams had been a volunteer fireman in Levittown, N.Y. and a volunteer fire police in Tivalee, N.Y. Mr. Adams was a talented woodworker. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Adams had been involved in Republican politics at a state and local level. He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. Adams who died in July of this year and a daughter, Kathleen P. Adams. He is survived by two daughters, Maureen F. (Robert) Albright of Ballston Spa and Christine M. (William) Ryan of Voorheesville; one son, Matthew H. (Barbara) Adams of Graylake, Ill.; two sisters, Margaret (Ray) Mikler of Winter Springs, Fla. and Connie (Paul) Zwilling of Massapequa, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Joshua Alvarez and his fiancee Karen Liebowitz, Patrick and Kelly Ryan, Erika, Amanda and Noah Adams. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated for Mr. Adams and his wife, Wednesday at 12 noon at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street, Schenectady. Formerly of West Bloomfield, Mich., a CPA, he was for many years chief financial officer of Paragon Steel Corporation, Detroit, and then, in 1985, a founding partner in BBK Limited, a financial management consulting firm. He was a long standing and active member of Temple Beth El, Birmingham, Mich. After retiring in December 1997, he later became a full time resident of Scottsdale. Gawe, Georgia A. BALLSTON LAKE Georgia A. (Schrlau) Gawe, 63, of Blue Spruce Lane died peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at her residence. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on December 30, 1941 and was the daughter of Marie Hildebrandt Theall of Binghamton, N.Y. and the late George Schrlau and stepdaughter of the late Duane Theall. She had lived in Clifton Park since 1975 and was formerly of East Granby, Conn. Georgia was a graduate of Hawley High School in Pennsylvania and she attended Barrington College, (now known as Gordon College), in Barrington, R.I. As a matchless people person, throughout her career Georgia greeted many clients with her brilliant smile of sunshine working as the office manager for Dr. Allan Rosell, DDS in Clifton Park for 22 years and most recently with Dr. Mark Roschinsky, DDS in Round Lake for the past four years until her retirement on August 8, 2005. Those around her were unconditionally loved by her unforgettable presence and selfless demeanor. It had been said, To know Georgia is to love Georgia. Full of vitality, she loved life and all of its simple pleasures like animals, flowers, and music. She was, indeed, a gourmet chef (Who could say no to those chocolate-chip cookies...?) and a devoted caretaker to her beloved family of adopted cats. Georgia was definitely, one in a million. Above all, her steadfast love for God and her family and they for her was a most precious gift. She married the love of her life, David C. Gawe on June 27, 1964. As a nurturing and giving person, she was the wonderful mother of Carrie Lynne (Dale) Newhart of Clifton Park and David C. (Mindi) Gawe Jr. of Whitefish, Mont. She was the caring grandmother of Rachael Lynne Newhart and Christian David Newhart. Her mother, Marie Theall resides at Susquehanna Nursing Home in Johnson City, N.Y. DELMAR Charles H. Holden, 83, of Delmar and formerly of Cohoes, died at St. Peter's Hospital, Wednesday, October 5, 2005 embraced by his loving family. Born in Albany, N.Y., he was the son of the late John and Frances Hayford Holden Sr. and husband of the late Marjorie Blessing Holden, who died August 3, 2003. Charles was a lifelong area resident and a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from Watervliet High School and was president of his class for all four years. He was employed with the former Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Watervliet for over 36 years as a chemical technician and retired in 1981. He was recently employed as an assistant sergeant at arms in the NYS Senate and he was also a clerk for the Senate document room. Charles was an accomplished and professional musician, playing the trombone. He played with the Dorings Military Band, Yankee Doodle Band, Fort Crailo Post, Colonie Town Band, Delmar Community Orchestra, Senior Citizen Symphonies at Louise Corning, Anne Shaffer Senior Citizen Symphonic in Schenectady, The Greg Nazarian Dance Band and the Harry Taylor Orchestra. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians and the American Legion of Halfmoon and the Watervliet Elks. He was also a member of St. Michael's Parish in Cohoes and St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar. Charles was an avid bowler and golfer. He was the consummate and eternal Yankee fan and enjoyed the Washington Red Skins. Born in Elkhorn, Wis. on April 17, 1914 to John P. and Mary Nahrgang Albach, Florence had two sisters, Elsie and Helen, and a brother, Johnny. At an early age, the family moved to St. Louis, Mo., where they were surrounded by many relatives. The children enjoyed the company of one another and spent their days playing tennis, boating on the river, singing in the church choir and acting in plays. Florence met Fred K. Mac McCormick and, after a long courtship, they married in June of 1941. Together, they moved to New York in 1946, living first in Bronxville and then Eastchester, N.Y. It is there she raised their three daughters, Barbara, Susan and Joann. Their summers were happily spent in the beautiful Adirondacks on Trout Lake in the town of Diamond Point. Florence worked as an executive secretary at Bodnar Industries of New Rochelle and later at the Wartburg Home in Mount Vernon. Mac's death in 1985 prompted Florence to move to Glenmont where she could be near her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. Florence became very active in her community, with her church, the Delmar Presbyterian Church, the Delmar Progress Club and volunteering for the Town of Bethlehem Senior Services. An avid fan of the ballet, skilled at needlework and quilting, Florence was also an especially sharp card player and was a member of several local bridge clubs. A lifetime member of the Kappa Phi sorority, an enthusiastic gardener and wonderful correspondent, she continued to send handwritten notes and cards to her friends until shortly before her death. Florence is survived by her daughters, Barbara McCormick, Susan Philippo and Joann McCormick, and grandsons, Christopher Philippo and Timothy Philippo and Tim's wife Monica. Florence's family would like to acknowledge the love, support and care given to her by her many friends, neighbors and her church community. The family is grateful for all the kindness showered upon Florence and extend a heartfelt thank you to them all. Interment will be in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y., next to her husband Mac and her beloved son-in-law John William Philippo. Marjorie Findley Meislahn died on October 3, 2005 at her residence at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy. She was 94. Marjorie was born on November 19, 1910 in New York City to Norman P. and Isabell Findley. She was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. and graduated from Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn and Ogontz College in Pa. In 1935, she married Harry E.P. Meislahn and, in 1943, moved with her husband and young family to Albany when he was appointed headmaster of the Albany Academy. After his retirement in 1971, she and her husband maintained a residence in Albany which she continued after his death in 1982 until she moved to the Eddy Retirement Community in 1991. Her life was devoted to her family, to her husband and to their very active life at the Albany Academy, in the greater Capital Region and Northern Lake George. She was a life member of the Albany Academy Mothers' Association and a member of the Northern Lake George Yacht Club and the First Presbyterian Church (Albany). She was a former member of the Brooklyn and Albany Junior Leagues, the University Club (Albany) and the board of trustees of the Guardian Society. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and proud of her ancestor, William Findley, who was an officer in the Revolutionary War and an early member of the United States Congress from Pa. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband and by her only sibling, Norman P. Findley Jr., who died in 1977. She is survived by her children, Harry P. Meislahn and his wife Meredith of Albany, Findley Meislahn and his wife Nancy of Middletown, Conn. and Marjorie M. Prentke of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, Brooke M. Killian (Rob), Leigh M. Dennis (Fred), Christopher Meislahn and Annie and Amanda Prentke; one great-grandson, Jake Killian; and a nephew and three nieces. GREEN ISLAND Carlos Alberto Osorio, 69, of Green Island, and recently of Watervliet, died suddenly Thursday, October 6, 2005, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, after being stricken at his home. Born in Belo Horizinete, Brazil, he was the son of the late Fernando Augusto and Odette Junekueira Osorio. He received his education in Brazil and served in the Brazilian Armed Forces. He immigrated to the U.S. around 1960 and began work in the food service industry, where he managed several of the Charlie's Hot Dogs and then became self-employed, owning several restaurants and catering businesses and most currently, Gringos of Watervliet. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Osorio of Green Island; two sons, Carlos Osorio of Troy and Fernando Osorio of Watervliet; five daughters, Bettina and Frank Conroy of Latham, Christina and William Murray of Albany, Erin and Jason Wellington of Green Island, Shannon and Cliff Gunsett of Newburgh and Carmen Osorio of Green Island; three brothers, Luiz Osorio, Marcio Osorio and Lincoln Junequiera, all of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Teresa Sequiera and Darcy Ozorio, both of Brazil; four grandchildren, Frankie and Gracie Conroy of Latham, Alex Anderson of Green Island and Dylan Gunsett of Newburgh; and many nieces and nephews. Quinn Apts., died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 8, 2005 at her home. Born in Whitehall, N.Y. on August 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Rondeau Vincent. Mrs. Passaretti was a resident of Watervliet for most of her life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to raising her three daughters and making sure she attended all the school and sporting events of her six grandchildren. She enjoyed Sunday afternoon dinners at her sister Jean's home gathering with her sisters and nieces and nephews. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and ceramics. While her girls were growing up, she was active in the School 3 PTA, the Home Bureau and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and formerly of the Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. She was the beloved wife of 38 years of the late Peter J. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. Mrs. Sefcovic is remembered by her loving family as a devoted wife and mother and a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother. Her finest accomplishment was in raising her family and being a part of them. A devout catholic, Mrs. Sefcovic loved people and edified the lives of all of whom she touched. She is loved by so many people and will truly be missed by all whom were blessed to know her. Married in 1938, Mrs. Sefcovic is predeceased by her husband Fred P. Sefcovic who died in 1977. She lived all her life in the Ravena Coeymans area. For 13 years, Madeline was a manager at Albany Medical Center Hospital. She also was a certified professional coder and taught this profession at Bryant & Stratton in Albany. She was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed crocheting.
