He was born in Lisbon, Maine and was the son of the late Julius and Mary Bellas. Joe has served in the U.S. Naval Reserves during World War II. He was a machinist for Singer Sewing Machine Company in Lisbon, Maine for many years before retiring. He was predeceased by his wife Violet in 1968, his son Joseph in 1978 and his second wife Erika in 2000. He is the beloved father of Donald S. Bellas (Terri) of Linden, N.J. and Maria Bellas of Glenville. He is the brother of Walter Bellas, Mary and Anna Dawidowicz, all of N.J.; grandfather of Steven (Bonnie), Richard, Robert and Michael Bellas; great-grandfather of Dorothy and Joseph Bellas. Peg was the wife of 54 years to Harry Brown until his death January 30, 2005. She was a graduate of Draper High School in Schenectady. She received her bachelor's degree from the University at Albany. Peg was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in New Bern, N.C. She was a member of the Bethlehem Garden Club, the Cooperative Extension (where she attained the status of Master Gardener) and was on the board of directors for Five Rivers Environmental Center. She was also a member of the Delmar Progress Club and the Slingerlands Players. She belonged to the Delmar Reformed Church. Peg is the mother of David C. Brown of Delmar, Barbara A. (Frank) Pell of Loudonville and Paul C. (Barbara) Brown of Ft. Collins, Colo.; grandmother of Harrison C. Brown, also of Ft. Collins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia and Lois Culver. Crasper, 96, formerly of Stone Jug Road in Taghkanic, died Friday, September 9, 2005 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home. Born May 6, 1909 in Prattsville, Green County, she was the daughter of Walter and Frances (Raeder) Clark. Mrs. Crasper was a homemaker. Before retiring, she was employed as a teacher with the New Paltz Normal School and as a tax collector for the Town of Taghkanic. She was a life member of the Churchtown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Eldred Crasper of Taghkanic; three daughters, Melinda Dodds of Louisville, Ky., Joyce Connelley of Craryville and Leone Gentner of Castleton-on-Hudson; two brothers, Raeder Finkle of Onoenta and Clarence Finkle of Hackettstown, N.J.; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Frany Sr., 90, died Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late James T. Frany Sr. and Amelia (Weiss) Frany. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Frany was a certified gemologist and registered jeweler. He worked as a jeweler and engraver with the former Adels-Loeb Jewelers for over 35 years. He later worked in sales and as a master engraver with Frank Adams Jewelers until his death. Mr. Frany was a longtime communicant of St. James Church, past member of the church choir and Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus. He was the husband of the late Grace Fazio Frany; father of Geraldine (Kaveh) Govanlu of Delmar, George J. (Mary Ann) Frany Jr. of Loudonville; brother of Rosemary A. Frany of Albany and the late James T. Hall, Ruth Wendt BOONVILLE Ruth Wendt Hall, a former resident of Delmar and Bradenton, Fla., passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the home of her brother-in-law, John Sanford, East Road in Boonville, where she had resided for the past three years. Ruth was born on March 12, 1916 in Deansboro, N.Y., the daughter of Lyman and Vera (McCale) Wendt. The family moved to Boonville in 1920, where she graduated from Boonville High School with the Class of 1933 and, in 1934, she married Henry J. Hall. They moved to Delmar, N.Y. where they resided until Mr. Hall retired in 1968. During her years in Delmar, Ruth was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She was elected to many leadership posts on the local Albany District and Troy United Methodist Conference level. While residing in Bradenton, Mrs. Hall was very involved in the Bradenton Trinity Methodist Church. During her years in Boonville, Ruth was an active supporter of the Presbyterian Church and His Name Circle. She was also an active participant in the Episcopalian Forum. Ruth was the beloved mother of two daughters, Dorie (Stephen) Hallenbeck, Nancy (John) DuBois; six grandchildren, Joel and Heather Hallenbeck, Betsy Hallenbeck, Katie, J. David and Christopher DuBois; and many much loved nieces, nephews and dear, dear friends. Ruth's siblings, Clifford, Frank and Doris W. Sanford predeceased her by many years. He was a parts manager for several automobile dealers, most recently at Orange Motors in Albany. Along with his wife Lynn, Jim operated the former Midway Kwik Shop in Colonie for nine years. He was a talented drummer, having played with several local bands throughout the area. He is the beloved husband of 32 years to Lynn Anderson Heffernan. He is the devoted father of James P. Plue, 88, of Rensselaer, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home after a short illness. He was born in Saugerties, N.Y. on March 21, 1917 and was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Huber) Plue. Mr. Plue was educated at Siena College where he was valedictorian of the Class of 1950 and received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1960. He was employed as a research chemist at the GAF Corporation in Rensselaer, retiring in 1978 with 44 years of service. Mr. Plue was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Albany for more than 70 years, where he served in many positions of leadership. In the 1950s and 60s, he was an adult leader in Boy Scouts with the Fort Orange Council. Throughout his life, he was a ham radio operator (KY2I) and enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and fishing and traveling. Arnold was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret (Vonk) Plue and by his parents and brother, Douglas Plue. He is survived by his son, Robert (Linda) Plue of Rensselaer, N.Y.; daughter, Janet (Gerald) Goodrich of Bellingham, Mass.; daughter, Susan (John) Yodis of Moscow Mills, Mo.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She served as a missionary, usher and was a devoted member until her illness. Before her retirement, Ellie was the clerk/treasurer of the Village of Kinderhook for 25 years. She was a member of the Garden Club of Kinderhook and the Red Hat Society and enjoyed gardening and her bridge club. Scribner, Martha Gertrude CLIFTON PARK Martha Gertrude Harders Scribner, 78, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2005. Born in Owego, N.Y., daughter of Otto Harders and Margaret Heinrikowski. Predeceased siblings include five brothers, one sister, Ernest, Johanna, William, Henry, Walter and Harry. Martha worked for the IBM Corporation in Owego until her marriage to Sheldon Virgil Scribner Jr. in 1961. Their two sons, Stephan Scribner and Brian Scribner were born while they lived in Owego, N.Y. The family moved to Pittsfield, Mass. in the late 1960s and then finally settled in Clifton Park in the early 1970s, where they have lived since. Martha was an active member of the Mohawk Valley Art Group, which met regularly at the United Methodist Church in Rexford. She participated in Art Shows in the Stockade section of Schenectady and Rexford for many years. Martha was a gifted artist and very much enjoyed painting with oils, acrylics and water colors. Many of her paintings and art work won acceptance and recognition for various art awards. Her art work which tells her story, will be displayed for many years to come. Martha will be remembered through her artwork and her legacy will be the lessons she has passed down to her children and grandchildren. Family was always the most important thing to her. She was a dedicated mother, wife, friend and truly a genuine compassionate and caring human being. She was always more concerned about others, than herself. She will never be forgotten and she will live on through the love of her family and those that knew her. Surviving family members include spouse, Sheldon V. Painting was his true love. Bryan will be remembered by his family and friends by his generous spirit, sense of humor and devotion to his family, especially to his loving daughter, Lizzy. His was a life well lived, ending too soon. Sramek, Catherine J. BALLSTON LAKE Catherine J. Sramek, 77, of Ballston Lake, died suddenly Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital. Born June 27, 1928 in Lyndhurst, N.J., she was the wife of Joseph Sramek who died January 20 of this year and daughter of the late Carmine and Maria Luisi. She lived in Ballston Lake for the past five years, previously of Oakwood Heights, Staten Island and Inverness, Fla. Catherine retired from NY Telephone Co. on Staten Island after 35 years of service. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake, N.Y. and a member of the NY Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed cooking, canning, needle work and keeping in touch with her family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren. Survived by one son, Stephen Sramek of Ballston Lake; one daughter, Maria Sramek Tamlyn of Manhattan; two brothers, Anthony Luisi of Fla. and Angelo Luisi of Staten Island; one sister, Jennie Conisha of Fla.; eight grandchildren, Julia Tamlyn, Patrick, Catherine, Mary, Margaret, Rita, Frances and Ann Sramek; several nieces and nephews. Strusinski, PE, 81, of Nassau, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. Mr. Strusinski was born in Warsaw, Poland, the son of the late Joseph and Kazimiera Strusinski. Mr. Strusinski lived in Buffalo and Syracuse, N.Y., before moving to Nassau in 1982. He had been employed as a professional engineer with Niagara Mohawk for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Strusinski was a former Boy Scout leader and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Nassau. Lambert Thibault, died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the Albany County Health Care Facility in Colonie. Born in Gloversville, he was the son of the late George and Evelyn Burke Thibault. He was raised in Ticonderoga and was a 1937 graduate of Ticonderoga High School where he was the class president and captain of his football team. Richard married his beloved wife, Margaret A. Lambert Thibault on August 18, 1942. He was an United States Army veteran of World War II serving as a technical sergeant with the Signal Corps. in the South Pacific. He was active with the 77th Division of World War II reunions. After the military, he worked for Western Electric as an installer for over 37 years traveling extensively all over the Northeast until his retirement in 1978. He has been a resident of Latham since 1949. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the Pioneers of America. Richard had a love of Lake George and a very special love of his family and his grandchildren. Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children, Linda and John Estep of Latham and Mark and Judy Thibault of Latham; his cherished grandchildren, John Estep, William Estep, Thomas Estep, Michelle Thibault, Jennifer Thibault and Elizabeth Thibault; his great-granddaughter, Annabelle Estep; his nephew, Rev. Tunny Jr., James C. COLONIE James C. Red Tunny Jr., 75, died suddenly Friday, September 9, 2005 at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late James C. and Irene Erwin Tunny. Mr. Tunny was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grammar School in Albany and Christian Brothers Academy, class of 1948. He earned his bachelor's degree from Manhattan College in 1952 and later a master's degree from Siena College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He retired from the NYS Department of Health as director of the Bureau of Health Care Standards for long term care. In the late 1950s, Mr. Tunny was chosen as an epidemiologist for Harvard University conducting auto accident research for the federal government. He most recently served as a private consultant for nursing home standards and volunteered as a mental health ombundsman. Jim was a gifted artist and avid bowler. In 1998, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Christian Brothers Academy. Among his many athletic accomplishments at CBA, he is most remembered for quarterbacking the 1947 varsity football game against Albany High School and tossing the game-ending touchdown pass to John Boice to win that contest 6-0! He was the beloved husband of Anastasia (Tacy) Giftos Tunny; cherished father of Peter Tunny and his wife Kathleen of Colonie, Anne Koutsakis and her husband Stefan of Niskayuna, Megan Kelly and her husband Thom of Colonie and the late James C. Tunny III, who passed away in November of 1992; beloved Irish Papa of Declan Tunny; beloved Papa of Stefan II, Petros and Annaliese Koutsakis, Tommy and Caroline Kelly; brother of Rev. Kenneth Tunny of Schenectady, Gerald Tunny and his wife Barbara of Albany and the late Erwin Tunny; brother-in-law of Winifred Tunny of Albany; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Yi, 14, of Niskayuna, went home with the angels on Sunday, September 11, 2005. She was born in Watervliet and is the beloved daughter of Jason and Sue Yi. Jessica attended the Langan School at the Center for the Disabled. Jessica was always smiling and will be remembered by her family as their Special Little Angel.
