For many years, she was a waitress for Carl Bloomberger in Albany. Mrs. Adams is the mother of Estelle (Joseph J.) Adams of Selkirk, and the late Patricia Ann Davis; sister of Salvatore Trianni of Selkirk, Mary Foster of Coxsackie and the late Daniel and Leonard Trianni, Dominick Scarnato and Nancy Mirable. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Allert, Gertrud COLONIE Gertrud Allert, 84, died on Monday, September 12, 2005 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Erich and Anna Buege. For many years, Gertrud worked as a female mail carrier in Germany until moving to the United States with her husband and children in 1956. After arriving in the states, she went on to work as a short order cook for Veeder's restaurant until 1961. In 1963, Gertrud took on the position of caretaker at the German American Club on Cherry Street in Albany, retiring in 1987 after 24 years. She was an avid gardener and cake baker and enjoyed crocheting. Gertrud was predeceased by her beloved husband Gustav Allert; daughter, Karin Carrow; grandson, Gregory Lieberman; granddaughter, Lora Carrow; and two sons-in-law, William Lieberman and Clifford Carrow. Gertrud leaves behind to cherish her memory five children, Helga Lieberman of Colonie, Peter Buege (Suzane) of Rotterdam, Lou Allert (Dawn) of Rensselaer, Ursula Zeilman (Charles) of Colonie and Jutta Forkel (George) of Colonie; 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Boomer, Robin Lee (Woodworth) RAVENA Robin Lee Woodworth Boomer, age 46, died at home on Tuesday morning, September 13, 2005 after a long bout with brain cancer. Robin grew up in East Jewett, N.Y., graduated from Hunter Tannersville Central and attended Columbia Greene Community College. She worked as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service at Westerlo and Hannacroix for 15 years. She was a fantastic wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, Dan; five children, Nathan (Kari), Akra, Katy, Meagan and Madalyne; three grandchildren, Travis, Hailey and Olivia; her parents, Ruth Mary and Gerry Woodworth; one sister; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brower was born in Elizabeth, N.J. but lived most of her life in the Capital District. She was a graduate registered nurse of the Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Elizabeth, class of 1938. During World War II, she served as an officer in the Navy Nurse Corps. During 1943 and 1944, she worked with medical teams in Newport, R.I. to save the lives and limbs of wounded American servicemen able to make the trip from Europe or Africa. She was always very modest about this until her final years when she once again became quite proud. Josephine retired in 1990 after 50 years of nursing, including 20 years at Albany Medical Center as a private duty nurse, and also as a Red Cross Blood Mobile volunteer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albany and helped with children's Sunday school class at the church. She was a former member of the Guilderland Senior Citizens. After retirement, she and her husband spent winters in Lake Worth, Fla. and summers at their cottage at Canada Lake, N.Y. Mrs. Brower was the wife of the late John D. Brower. She is survived by her son, John E. Brower and his wife Eveline of Albany. She was predeceased by an infant child and by her sisters, Mary Cianfrocca and Anne Wudecki. Delmar, Francine Kurzon DELMAR Francine Kurzon, 87, died peacefully Monday, September 12, 2005 during her short stay at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Born in New York City, August 10, 1918 to Esther and Karl Gottfried. She was raised in Washington Heights and attended New York University before marrying Sam Kurzon in 1936. Fran and Sam first crossed paths when she was a nine years old at overnight camp and Sam was a waiter and counselor. Eight years later they met again and went on to share over 68 years together, until Sam's death this past June. Always supportive of his career, they worked together during World War II for the USO. While raising her family, she was employed in real estate sales and insurance. In the community she served as president of the Albany Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women and as president of the Bethlehem Central High School PTA. At heart a wife, mother and grandmother, her home was always open to family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Robert of Delmar and daughter, Judith Wieden (Alvin) of Highland Park, Ill.; beloved grandchildren, Alison Rosenblum, Emily Kurzon, Andrew Kurzon and Michael Wieden; devoted sister, Elaine Ross, M.D. of Orlando, Fla. and her family; and cousins, Carol and Otto Fuchs, Josephine Bayne and Phoebe and Herb Toder. DeLuca, Joseph ALBANY Joseph DeLuca, 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Albany Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with brain cancer, surrounded by his loved ones. Joe was born on September 6, 1926 in Montesarchio, Italy and was the son of the late Pasquale and Maria Grazia (Tangredi) DeLuca. Joe worked as a general mechanic at the office of children and family services in Albany. Prior to working for the state, he was a general contractor, building homes in the local area for over 40 years. He enjoyed horse racing, casino gambling and playing cards. He once owned a race horse named Tailsyoulose. Joe is survived by his son, Eugene (Peggy) DeLuca of Kissimmee, Fla.; his daughter, Mary Grace (David) Sullivan of Loudonville; his grandchildren, Joseph and Mark DeLuca and William Sullivan; his brother, Armando (Juanita) DeLuca of Albany; his sisters, Rosa (John) Tirino of Colonie and Mafalda (Salvatore) Fazio of Albany; also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gewirtzman was born in Poland and came to this country in 1913. In her early life, she resided in Amsterdam, N.Y. and has been a Capital District resident since 1930. She was very involved with the former Sons of Israel Synagogue, now known as Temple Israel in Albany, where she was a member as well as a member of their sisterhood. Rose was a life member of Hadassah, a life member of Brandeis Women and a member of Abigail Lodge #3 U.O.T.S. in Albany. She was married to Irving Gewirtzman until his passing in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Rockwood and her husband Dr. William Rockwood of Albany; grandmother of Marta (Mark Koblenz), Gary (Mindy) Rockwood, Stephanie (Drew) Kugler, Hope (Matthew) Rosenbaum and Heather (Ken Malsen) Rockwood; great-grandmother of Arielle, Sarah, Talia, Rachel, Deena, Aviva, Rivka, Dovid, Joshua, Alexandra, Jacob, Madeline, Lily, Ben and Maya. Linda worked for the NYS Department of Civil Service for 27 years, most recently as an executive secretary. Fuji McDonald, 44, of Rose Ct., Cohoes, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, N.Y., embraced by his loving family. Born in Troy, he was the beloved son of James K. and Josie T. Caldarella McDonald of Cohoes. Steve received his education in the Cohoes Schools and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He spent most of his life in Cohoes and lived in the Boston area for a short time. He was employed in the finishing department with Mohawk Paper in Cohoes and enjoyed the atmosphere and excitement of the Saratoga race season. A generous spirit with a warm personality, Steve enjoyed welcoming friends and neighbors while relaxing on the front porch. He looked forward to vacationing in Cape Cod with his family over the years. He was a passionate and avid Rolling Stones fan. In addition to his parents, Steve is survived by his loving daughter, Julia McDonald of Mass.; his devoted siblings, Joanne K. Vermilyea and her husband Gary of Clifton Park, Annie Kusaywa and her husband Walter of Cohoes and Jamie McDonald and his wife Cindy of Cohoes. He was the cherished uncle of Andrew and Brooke Vermilyea, Kaitlyn and Dylan Kusaywa and Olivia McDonald; dear friends, Marty and Kathy Riberdy; his former wife, Shelia Rossman; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony P. Miller, his mother, Anna Donnelly Miller, his stepmother, Kathryn M. (Lyons) Miller and his infant grandson, John A. Miller III. John was born and educated in Albany. He was a survivor of the Great Depression and became an accomplished machinist. John worked the third shift for many years in the large steam turbine division of the General Electric Company in Schenectady where he earned the nickname Johnny Midnight. He later retired from the Albany Billiard Ball Company where he was the organizer and president of the workers union. John was self taught on the piano, delighting guests at banquets and parties with his lively renditions of ragtime music. He was a self-learned organic vegetable gardener, a prize winning top bowler (Pappy) and an avid crossword puzzler. He was the original and forever faithful NY Mets baseball fan. John's favorite lifelong pastime was fishing. He also enjoyed hunting with his father and later with his two sons. He had a special fondness for the outdoors, teaching his children conservation and a deep respect for Mother Earth. John will forever be remembered for his friendly, good-hearted and generous nature, his witty sense of humor and his contentment in living a simple but fulfilling lifestyle. John will be remembered for his devotion to his cherished and adoring wife of 63 years, Madlyne E. LaChapelle Miller and their seven loving children, Karan Kross of Guilderland, Grace Miller- Wakeman (Kenneth) of Rexford, John A. Miller Jr. (Beverly) of Colonie, Christine Newell of Niskayuna, Valorie Colligan (Michael) of Colonie, Sally Margison of Clifton Park and Peter Miller (Nancy) of Waterford. She was educated in Brooklyn and moved to Coeymans where she completed her high school education and also graduated from the Albany Business College. She was a senior personnel administrator with the New York State Department of Education in Albany for over 30 years and retired in 1978. Patricia was a former bowler at the Albany Bowling Center and enjoyed canvas painting and loved to cook and bake for her family. She was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany. Survivors include her loving children, Robert E. (Jean) Mooney Jr. of Willsboro, Thomas P. (Susan) Mooney of Fultonville, Dawn M. (Dennis Sr.) Rizzo of Colonie and Michael J. Hospital in Albany after a long illness. Born in Derby, Conn., in 1932, he was a 37 year resident of Voorheesville. For the last three years, he was a resident of Delmar. Mr. Neal served in the Army during the Korean War and later worked as a Local 370 carpenter with the Salvatore Beltrone Company for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He owned and operated Neal's Diner in Voorheesville for several years. John also restored antique furniture. He was a former member of the New Salem Fire Department, DAV and was a member of the Voorheesville American Legion Post 1493. John is survived by his wife, Patricia Bruno Neal and his children, Donna L. Neal (Al) of Selkirk, Scott E. Neal (Christine) of Feura Bush, Daniel J. Neal (Cheri) of Vallejo, Calif., William J. Rapp (Diane) of Niskayuna, Steven W. Rapp (Pam) of Carlsbad, Calif. and Theresa A. White (Kenneth) of Feura Bush; also a sister, Shirley Hotaling of Altamont; and eight grandchildren. Nuendel, Emma Brantl DELMAR Emma Brantl Nuendel, 84, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. Born and educated in Ridgefield Park, N.J., she was the daughter of the late George and Emma Olson Brantl. Mrs. Nuendel was a homemaker and an active member of the Madison Congregational Church in Madison, Conn. She was devoted to her family and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Wife of the late Frank R. Nuendel; mother of Margaret Meg Bugler of Delmar; sister of the late George Brantl and John Brantl; grandmother of Stephen Bugler of Watervliet and Jonathan Bugler of Seattle, Wash.; aunt of Linda Brantl Gal of N.J. and James Brantl of Holden, Mass. O'Brien Jr., 91, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 under the care of Home Hospice. Born in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late John S. and Agnes E. Dahm O'Brien Sr. Mr. O'Brien was a graduate of St. John's Academy and CBA. He was an Army veteran, serving in the European and Pacific Theaters. Mr. O'Brien worked for the NY Central Railroad as a road foreman, retiring after many years. He was a member of Fort Orange American Legion Post, VFW Post #729, Watervliet, Watervliet Lodge of Elks #1500 and a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Parsons, William F. "Willy" COLONIE William Willy F. Parsons, 93, a long time Colonie resident, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2005. William was born on September 14, 1911 in Saratoga Springs and was the son of the late Edward D. and Lois A. Parsons. He worked as a dispatcher for Niagara Mohawk for 46 years before retiring in 1979. William was a member of St. Clare's Church for the past 17 years, prior to that he was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church; member of the Sunset Senior Bowling League; HBQ Kuhn Senior Center; and a former member of the Masons. In addition to bowling he enjoyed square dancing, watching baseball and in his younger years, playing golf. He played semi-pro for the Saratoga Athletic Club and in 1936 he was offered a spot as a pitcher for the New York Yankees. William is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Ida Caron Parsons; his daughter, Sheila L. Holmes; his son, Bruce W. Parsons, both of Hudson Falls; his stepdaughter, Celeste (Steve) Bullis of Waterford; his sons-in-law, Robert Daly of Fla. and Donald Holmes of Ft. Ann; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bernadine P. Parsons and three daughters, Pauline F. Smith, Marilyn L. Chance and Beverly J. Daly. He was the son of the late Henry and Carrie Phillips. Earnie was a US Navy veteran during World War II. He was a mechanic for Murphy's Overhead Doors in Albany for many years, retiring in 1995. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Susan H. Phillips. He is the beloved father of Cynthia (Chad) Sendzik, Judith Holmes, Wayne A. (Rebecca) Phillips, Scott C. (Jessica) Phillips and the late Scott R. and Kevin W. Phillips. He is the father-in-law of Kim Phillips. Earnie is the brother of William F. Phillips and the late Henry and Frederick Phillips. Patricia Webster Sabado, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 9, 2005. Patricia was born in Albany, N.Y. to John E. and Florence (Wisely) Webster. She was a graduate of the Academy of Holy Names and the College of Saint Rose and was a teacher in the Albany public school system. Patricia loved art, music and was an avid reader. Above all, she was an amazing mother. She is survived by her eight loving children, David (Sue) Sabado, Nathan (Lina) Sabado, Rachel (Watti) Casey, Jason (Annette) Sabado, Lisa (Gerald) McCoy, Vanessa (Eric) Adamsen, Seth (Stephanie) Sabado and Mara Sabado; 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ellen Forbes. Tryon, David Matthew BERNE David Matthew Tryon, 9, died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital following an accident at home. David was a former student at the Helderberg Christian School and was currently attending Berne Knox Westerlo schools. Included in his many interests was his love of sports, his cat, Angel and his many friends. David is survived by his parents, Timothy and Laurie Owens Tryon; his sister, Grace C. Tryon; his grandparents, Gerald and Lois Tryon of Feura Bush, Robert Owens of S. Bethlehem and Carol March of Stuyvesant Falls; his aunts and uncles, Ernest and Lisa Appleby of Coeymans Hollow, Debbie and Paul Hartnagel of Feura Bush, Beth and Kevin Hunter of Coeymans Hollow and John and Karen Wyatt of Austin, Texas. Yetto, Thelma Butler MECHANICVILLE Mrs. Thelma Butler Yetto, 80, of Meehan Road, died Monday, September 12, 2005 at home following a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville, August 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Brown Butler. Mrs. Yetto was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and, in addition to raising her family, worked a number of jobs within the area, such as at Ballston and Stillwater Knitting Mills, Barkley's and Sofco of Cohoes, and also Panza's Restaurant on Saratoga Lake. A member of the Pythian Sisters of Mechanicville, Thelma enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond A. Yetto Sr., who died in 1997. Survivors include her four daughters, Nan Rae and husband Clarence Dobbert of West Charlton, Barbara and husband George Martin of Schenectady, Norma and husband Robert Retell of Mechanicville and Noreen and husband Paul Loiselle Sr. of Cottageville, S.C.; three sons, Bruce and wife Marsha Yetto of Colonie, Raymond and wife Holly Yetto Jr. of Cohoes and Gary Yetto of Stillwater. Thelma is also survived by two sisters, Carol Alene Snow of Greenfield Center and Phyllis Mackey of Mechanicville; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. A graveside burial service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Memory's Garden, Route 155, Colonie for family and friends. There will be no calling hours.
