Diacetis, of Our Lady of Grace Church, Ballston Lake, passed away suddenly on September 16, 2005 at Ellis Hospital. Father Diacetis was born on October 17, 1944 in Albany, N.Y., the son of Theodore J. and Conchetta Christiana Diacetis. He attended Vincentian Institute in Albany, Mater Christi Seminary in Albany, St. Paul's Seminary in Ottawa and North American College in Rome. He was ordained as a priest on December 19, 1969 in Rome, Italy. He first served as associate pastor at St. Mary's Parish in Crescent from September 1970-July 1974. He was then assigned to study Canon Law at Catholic University, where he earned a J.C.D. He was the temporary administrator of St. James in Chatham from May to September 1977. He was assigned to the Diocesan Tribunal Office as the Defender of the Bond and appointed as the Judicial Vicar in November 1978. He was re-appointed to that position in 1981 for an additional three-year term. Beginning in January 1982, he also served as judge of the First Instance and continued as Defender of the Bond. He became the pastor of St. Mary's Parish in Stuyvesant Falls in September 1984 and served in that capacity until August 1985. He was appointed for an additional three-year term as Judicial Vicar in November 1984. He served as president of the Canon Law Society of American from 1983-1984. In August 1985, he was appointed as the chaplain to St. Joseph's Provincial House and was also appointed to the Board of Consultors in September 1985 for a five-year term. He became the pastor of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Ballston Lake in April 1989 where he remained until his death. Tony was the dean of Saratoga County from 1994 to 2000. He also served as a chaplain in the New York Army National Guard from 1987 until his death. Predeceased by his parents and a sister, Constance Diacetis. Survivors include his sisters, Theresa and Frank Smith of Niskayuna and Barbara and Terry Powell of Earlton, N.Y.; his brother, Theodore and Mary Jane Diacetis Jr. of Albany. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Teri Smith, Alicia Searles, James Diacetis, Patricia Montena, Mark Diacetis, Stephanie Murphy and Scott Powell. Also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews, Ashley Diacetis, Emily Searles, Amber Diacetis, Matthew Montena, Zachary Diacetis, Tyler Searles, Lincoln Murphy, Evan Montena, Evangeline Murphy, Brittany DeMarinis, Nicole DeMarinis and Charleen Knapp. Father Diacetis will be waked on Monday, September 19 at Our Lady of Grace Church in Ballston Lake. The Reception of the Body will be at 4:00 p.m. with viewing until the Parish Mass, which will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church at 12:00 noon on September 20. PRESTON HOLLOW Daniel G. German, 60, of Preston Hollow, passed away at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital on Saturday, September 17, 2005. He was born in Catskill, N.Y. on March 31, 1945, son of Helen (Potter) German and the late Gordon German. Daniel served in the U.S. Army for 20 years being discharged as a S/Sgt. Serving in Vietnam, he received the Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Commendation Medal (two Oak Leaf Clusters), Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Clasps (five Loops), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (three), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Army Service Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Expert Badge Rifle M14, Overseas Service Ribbon (two), Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal (Unit Citation) and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was also a former Boy Scout being a member of Troop 51 in Livingstonville, N.Y., a former member of the Tri-Village Volunteer Fire Co. in Preston Hollow and a member of AARP. When able, he enjoyed going fishing. Surviving are his mother, Helen German; a daughter, Heather German; two sisters, Ann Hanford and Helen Gooden; a brother, Kenneth German; nieces, Sharrie, Lori, Shelby and Elizabeth; nephews, Lee and Kenneth. Gordon, Max ALBANY Max Gordon, 94, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2005 at his home after a long illness. Max was born on January 13, 1911 in Lynn, Mass., the son of the late Julius and Dora Pearis Gordon. Max was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Bates College, attended Harvard Law School and was a graduate of Boston University Law School. He was associated with the former Herzog, Nichols and O'Brien Law Firm and retired from O'Connell and Aronowitz as an associate. Max is survived by his close friend and loving wife of 38 years, Mary Lawlor Gordon. An exceptionally patient and loving father, he leaves sons, Jeffrey H. Gordon, M.D. (Marie); Jonathan A. Gordon (Sarah); and his daughter, Lenna C. Gordon; grandsons, Julian B. Gordon, M.D. (Ashley), Michael Judd, M.D. (Jill); granddaughters, Valerie Judd and Deborah Gordon. Max was the loving and loved stepfather of MaryBeth Denn Czernicki, Karen Ann Denn Cunniff (Joseph); Papa of step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Czernicki Quist (Lt. Green, Rosalie COLONIE Rosalie Green, 79, peacefully ventured into eternal life on Sunday, September 18, 2005, with her loving family by her side. Born in Rensselaer, she was the daughter of the late Fred Hill and Edna (Palmer) Hill. Rosalie enjoyed spending time at her camp and even more spending time with her family. She was a member of the Midway Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Post #8692. Rosalie is predeceased by her beloved husband of 39 years Edward W. Green; her stepfather Leonard Moxon; two sisters, Betty Prusky and Florita Jesson; two stepbrothers, William and Leonard Jr. and her stepsister Ginny. Rosalie leaves behind to cherish her memory her three daughters, Darlene (Charles) Sebast of Cohoes, Ednamay (Robert) Lester of Colonie and Karen (William) Poulter of Craryville, N.Y. Also surviving are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Grybosh, 92, of Kelly Lane, died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Born in Mt. Carmel, Pa., he was the son of Stanley and Agnes Romanek Grybosh. From 1935-1946 Enoch served in the United States Marines Corps attaining the rank of captain. He has lived in the Schenectady area since 1948. For 26 years, he was an assembler in building 273 for the General Electric Co. retiring in 1975. Enoch was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church. His wife of 55 years, Mary Bednarczyk Grybosh died in 1997. Survivors include his daughter, Maryann Graybash of Rotterdam and his granddaughter, Annmarie Graybash also of Rotterdam. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Enoch was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters. Call hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Haggerty, Mary Lou BALLSTON LAKE Mary Lou (Griffing) Haggerty, 87, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2005 at home in Ballston Lake after a long illness. She had also been a part-time resident of Juno Beach, Fla. for the past 15 years. Born to Nora and George Griffing in Hormel, N.Y. and married to the late James T. Haggerty of Cortland. Upon receiving an education degree from SUNY Cortland, Mary Lou embarked on her career with a teaching position in Bayport, Long Island in 1940. World War II led her to join Grumman Aircraft, after which she worked as a classroom teacher for the school district of Lawrence, N.Y. until 1963 when she received her master's degree from Queens College and became an elementary guidance counselor for the district until her retirement in 1973. She was an early proponent and life-long advocate for childhood enrichment and championed such programs as the district's pre-kindergarten program in 1965 and its Early Childhood Learning Center in 1971. She was a life member of NEA, president of the Nassau County Classroom Teacher's Association, and chaired the First Employment Opportunity Committee of the New York State Teachers Association. Not one to allow retirement to interrupt her commitment to serve, she moved to Queensbury where she became an executive secretary for the Family Service Association of Glens Falls from 1973 to 1977. Mary Lou was then director of the Warren County Youth Bureau until 1982, when she became the executive director of the Adirondack Prevention Services. Active in many local activities, she was also a member and past president of the area's chapter of ZONTA, a professional women's service organization. Illness led to her discontinuing full-time work and community activities in 1987. During her time in Queensbury Mary Lou was also a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls and in recent years she attended Corpus Christi Church in Ballston Lake. Besides her parents and her husband of 25 years James she was also predeceased by her brother George Griffing. Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Hart of Long Beach, N.Y.; two daughters, Peggy Garcia and her husband Tito of Long Beach, N.Y. and Kathy Randolph and her husband Chris of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; her son, James (Mike) Haggerty of Queensbury; grandchildren, Damian, Kenny and Elizabeth Garcia, Christopher and Kimberly Randolph and James, Bryan and Daniel Haggerty. She also enjoyed the smiles of five great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at St. Alphonsus Church, Broad Street, Glens Falls. MENANDS Howard J. Kinnicutt, 73, lifelong resident of Menands, died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Menands on March 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Howard and Geraldine Kilroy Kinnicutt. Mr. Kinnicutt attended School 20, CBA and Siena College. From 1960-1985, he was employed by the Village of Menands in the Street Department before retiring. He was an entrepreneur who founded the Kinnicutt Bus Company of Menands in 1965 and now is in its 40th year of service to the community. He is a life member of the Menands Fire Co. #1, a member of the Menands Rotary, the Watervliet Lodge of Elks #1500, a board member of the South Albany Airport and a former member of the Warners Lake Association. He was a communicant of St. Brigid's Church in Watervliet and was an usher at the Saturday Vigil Mass. He was an avid New York Giants football fan, loved the outdoors and boating and truly enjoyed helping people. He was the beloved husband of 50 years of Mary B. LaBelle Kinnicutt; loving father of Kevin H. (Barbara) Kinnicutt of Menands, Geraldine Laurie Kinnicutt of Loudonville and Donna Marie Kenny of Menands; proud grandfather of Sara, Andrew and Matthew Kinnicutt, Michelle and Paul-Jon Duclos and Adam Kenny; brother of Clement (Jean) Kinnicutt of Menands; brother-in-law of Arthur (Joan) LaBelle of Slingerlands. Her strength of will and quiet wisdom echoes throughout everyone she has touched. Forever endeared and never forgotten. He worked happily over 50 years for Capital Newspapers. Mattison, Janet EAST GLENVILLE Janet Mattison, of Birch Lane, 81 years old, died at her home on Saturday, September 17, 2005 with her family at her side. Born on November 5, 1923 in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of Dr. Harry and Dawn Swinehart Campbell. Janet graduated from Heidelberg College (Tiffon, Ohio) and subsequently the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She was married in 1953 to Richard Mattison. From 1948-55 Janet had worked for the G.E. News Bureau. Janet worked part time while raising her family in Glenville. She was employed by the BH-BL Central School District for 25 years until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Mattison was solely responsible in the position of Public Relations Liaison at the school district. For many years, any issues that developed at the high school were handled through Janet. Janet liked to travel, shop and spend time with her family. She enjoyed her retirement and was proud of her 52 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, Richard F. Mattison of Glenville; children, Scott C. Mattison of Salem, Va., Dawn Barthel and her husband John of E. Nassau; granddaughters, Jessica and Lauren Barthel. Miller, 75, of Frank Street died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Miller was born in Albany, moved to Schenectady as a child and attended Schenectady schools. He had been a U.S. Marine veteran, serving in the Korean and China conflicts. He had been a member for 50 years of Local 12 in Albany of the Iron Workers, retiring several years ago. Henry enjoyed outdoor sports with his son and friends. He had belonged to the Woodlawn Sportsman Club and the Guan-Ho-Ha Club, a former member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians and had been a communicant of St. Luke's Church and St. Anthony's Church. He is survived by two children, Michele (Tom) Tierney of Rotterdam and Michael (Cynthia) Miller of Salem; two grandchildren, Thomas Tierney V and Erin Tierney; lifelong friend and brother-in-law, Philip Cummings and Henry's companion, Earline Miller. Daughter of the late Harold and Alice Hayes Tracy, Alicia was born and raised in Boston, Mass. and had lived in Baltimore, Md. before coming to the Capital District in 1950. A graduate of Boston University class of 1935, Alicia worked as a secretary in the insurance industry. A former board member of Albany Medical Center Hospital, Alicia also volunteered at the hospital's thrift shop for over 40 years. Alicia was a long time member of Saint Pius X Church, Loudonville, Schuyler Meadows Country Club, Loudonville and the Fort Orange Club, Albany. Mrs. Roach is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Dr. John F. Roach MD of Albany; loving son, John J. Jennie (Stasik) Sadowski, 81, of Hemstreet Park, died peacefully Saturday evening, September 17, 2005. Born in Hoosick Falls, January 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Maximillian and Nellie Stasik and she was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy of Hoosick Falls. Married in 1947, Jane was the wife of John F. Sadowski Sr. of Mechanicville. After devoting most of her life to raising her children, she later worked for the NYS Dept. of Labor, until her retirement in 1986. She was a faithful communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, John F. Sadowski Jr. and his wife Francine of Guilderland, Jean M. Perretta of Mechanicville and Anne M. Sadowski of Hoosick Falls. Above all, Jane cherished her grandchildren, Laura Sadowski Munyan and her husband Bill, Scott Perretta and his fiancee Maureen Ring, David Perretta and his wife Rebecca and Dr. Jodee Perretta and her finance Dr. Rick Price. Jane was as much a source of joy in their lives as they were to her and will be dearly missed. Other surviving family members are Helen and Art Baker, Ann Tafuto, Frank and Pat Sadowski; many nieces and nephews. Jane was also predeceased by her brother, Rudolph Stasik; her sister, Frances Stasik; brothers-in-law, Charles, Chester and Edward Sadowski. Published in the Albany Times Union on 9/19/2005. Scalzo, Mary A. SELKIRK Mary A. Petramale Scalzo, 85, died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the Teresian House. Mary was born in Athens and had resided in Selkirk since 1959. She was a sales clerk for John G. Myers for many years. Together with her husband, Patrick and his parents, Joseph and Teresa Scalzo, they owned and operated the former Joseph's Restaurant in Selkirk. Mary was well known for her baked goods, especially her wine and knot cookies. Mary wes predeceased by her husband, Patrick J. Scalzo. Survivors include her sons, Joseph P. (Barbara) Scalzo and Patrick J. Scalzo, both of Selkirk; sisters, Margaret Petramale, Ann (Sam) Pomellitto and Lillian Altimari; brother, Frank (Carol) Petramale; grandchildren, Theresa (Jim) Conlin, Johanna, Stephanie and Jill Scalzo; great-grandchildren, Michelle McDonald and Jamie Conlin; special niece, Therese (Jim) Butts; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Ann Scalzo, Mary Ann Clouse McCarville and Amy Scalzo. Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Esposito, Tessi Daisernia and Josephine Petramale. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21 at the Teresian House in Albany. Spencer, 88 died on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the Ann Lee Home in Colonie where he has been a resident for a year. Born September 18, 1916 in Watervliet, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ida Mae Zukowski Spencer. He was the widower of the former Rita O'Neill who died in 1964. Educated in Watervliet schools, Mr. Spencer joined the United States Army during World War II. He was honored with the American Service Medal, EAME Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 6, 1946 at the rank of sergeant. Mr. Spencer was employed by the Norton Company for over 25 years before his retirement in 1981. He was a life member of the VFW Post #729 in Watervliet and an avid reader. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Ethel Krause, John Spencer and Jessie Weeks. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 8:15 from Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and 9:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church where a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Thomson, 82, formerly of Coxsackie and Freehold, N.Y., passed away at her home in Saugerties, N.Y. on Saturday, September 17, 2005, after a long illness. She was born in New Baltimore, N.Y. on November 9, 1922, daughter of the late Fred and Helen (Hoffman) Kaiser. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was discharged as a corporal. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville, N.Y. and a former member of the Women's Marine Association, the Maranatha Valley Chapter #764 O.E.S., the Greenville American Legion Post #291, the Greenville American Legion Post #291 Ladies Auxiliary, the Freehold Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Freehold C.C. Church Ladies Aid. A life long homemaker, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Thomson and a brother, Fred Kaiser. Surviving are her son, Charles Thomson and his wife Bonnie of Saugerties; a daughter Susan Thomson of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren, Aubree Thomson and Charles M. Lawrence; a sister, Mildred Spinner of Freehold; a brother, Harold Kaiser of Elmira, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. Tiffany, 85, died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center Hospital in Albany. Fred was born on the Frederick Farm in Meadowdale and was a lifelong resident of Altamont. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific and was in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked it. He worked as an electrician, first for Bill Secor in Altamont and then for the Local #724, I.B.E.W. in Albany. He was a member of the Boyd Hilton V.F.W. Post and the Helderberg American Legion Post in Altamont. He was also an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Helderberg Rod and Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara E. Tiffany in 1988. Survivors include five children, Patricia (Jeff) Peterson of Manlius, N.Y., Frederick W. (Gail) Tiffany Jr. of Edwards, Mo., David A. (Marlene) Tiffany of Knox, Linda Tiffany (Bob) O'Herin of Knox and Susan E. Donato and her late husband Thomas of Altamont; two sisters, Ruth (Peter) Baldes of Albany and Mary Jane (Bill) Parker of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a stepbrother, Lewis Tiffany of Cambridge, England and stepsister, Dorothy Porter of Phoenix, Ariz. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Wilson Jr., 61, of Nott Road, died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at home, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. Clark was born in Schenectady and was a lifelong Rexford resident. He was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, Tufts University, Class of 1965, and received a master's degree from SUNY Albany. Mr. Wilson was a lifetime employee of state government, working for the department of correctional services for 37 years, retiring in 2003 as deputy superintendent of programs at Greene Correctional Facilities. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Rexford Methodist Church and a member of the church board. He was also a member of the board of directors of OMCE and National Corrections Recreation Association. Clark's community involvement included being president of the Rexford Historical Society, president of the Rexford Civic Association, Fire Board of Commissioners, Rexford Water Committee and the Town of Clifton Park Open Spaces Committee. Clark taught the importance of giving of time, talent and treasure freely to all he could. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. Clark will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Clark is predeceased by his grandparents, John and Laura Vrooman McLane; his parents, Clark K. Wilson Sr. and Dorothy McLane Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Kristine Ring Wilson, whom he married in 1978; one daughter, Catherine Ring Wilson of Rexford; one son, Clark K. Wilson III and his wife Cristina of Troy; one sister, Valerie DuPuy of N.C.; sister-in-law, Kathleen Funk and her husband Thomas of Fla.; two nieces, Lisette DuPuy of Calif. and Meredith DuPuy Nichols of N.C.; one nephew, Daniel DuPuy of Calif.; and one cousin, Ruth Janiec. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10:30 at the Rexford Methodist Church, Main St., Rexford. Calling hours will be Monday from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union St., Schenectady. Burial will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rexford Methodist or to the Rexford Fire Department. The family wishes to thank the nurses, physicians and the Hospice Program who were so good to the family during his long journey and thanks to all the family and friends who sent cards and food.
