Born in Poestenkill, she was daughter of the late Floyd Wheeler Moody and Ruth Simpson Prediger Livermore. Thelma worked as a nurse's aide in the maternity ward at Samaritan Hospital in Troy for 17 years. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and was a devoted mother to her four children. Thelma will be missed by her four legged friends whom she loved to spoil. Erickson, Robert S. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. Robert S. Erickson, 57, of Saratoga Springs, beloved husband of Marilyn, passed away early Sunday morning, September 18, 2005 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, daughters, Lyndsey and Noel, brother, Steve and sister-in-law Sue. Born on January 6, 1948 in Schenectady, N.Y. and raised in Scotia, N.Y., Bob was the son of the late Samuel and Pauline Erickson. He was a graduate of Scotia High School 1966, Northeastern University class of 1971, and earned two master's degrees from Boston University, in engineering and business administration. He spent his professional career working as an electrical engineer in the power systems division of the General Electric Company for 32 years in various positions in Mass., Ga. and N.Y. State. Bob and Marilyn began their wild ride together in Boston. They met there in 1967 and, since then, have lived together in several towns in Mass., including Marblehead, Rowley, and Wenham, where they started a family and lived for 15 years. For the last 15 years, they have called New York State their home. They lived in Niskayuna, and most recently in Saratoga Springs. In Saratoga Springs, Bob embarked on his retirement with gusto, spending his time working as a golf course starter, playing lots of golf, tennis, and bridge as well as hosting and visiting dearly loved friends around the country. Bob is survived by his loving wife Marilyn; his two daughters, Lyndsey and Noel; his brother, Steve; his uncle Carl; his cousin, Carl; nine nieces and nephews, and sixteen grandnieces and grandnephews. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice of Saratoga Springs, especially Kelly, as well as the loving and caring staff at Saratoga Hospital and at the Pruyn Center at Glens Falls Hospital. Frazier, 62, of Cayuga Plaza, died Monday, September 19, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Benjamin W. Frazier and Mildred Jackson Frazier and beloved husband of Rose Brust Frazier for 27 years. A resident of Cohoes for the past 13 years, Mr. Frazier was a sanitation worker with the City of Troy for 20 years, retiring in 1992. Survivors in addition to his wife, Rose, include six children, six stepchildren, two brothers, three sisters, 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Kindt, Henry George BALLSTON SPA Henry George Kindt, 91, of Ballston Spa, died of pneumonia at Saratoga Care Nursing Home at 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2005. Mr. Kindt was born in Albany, N.Y., on January 2, 1914, the son of Henry Christian and Anna (Kurtz) Kindt. After graduating from Albany Business College in 1934, Henry worked at a variety of jobs before volunteering for the Army in which he served for four and a three quarter years with the 801st Tank Destroyer Battalion. In the European Theater of operations during World War II, Tech Sgt. Henry Kindt participated in the invasion of Normandy and in five major battle campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of Robert L. Weininger VFW Post No 8692 in Colonie and also belonged to the Troop B Cavalry Veterans Association of Albany. As a youth, Henry was a communicant of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Albany where he was confirmed at about age 13. In 1953, at age 39, he was baptized by immersion at the former Union Street Christian Church in Schenectady where he also served as a deacon and as Sunday school superintendent. From 1979 until his hospitalization, he was a faithful worshiper at the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa where he served on the finance committee and as volunteer financial adviser and bookkeeper for the Church Mouse Nursery School. He also assisted his wife in her work as an ESL tutor with Literacy Volunteers. On November 24, 1943, while stationed at Camp Hood, Henry was married to Eulalie Climer at the Central Church of Christ in Temple, Texas. After the war, the couple settled in the Capital District area of New York where Henry had grown up. They have lived in Troy, Colonie, Clifton Park and, since 1979, in Ballston Spa. In January of that year, after more that 33 years with the former Covert Manufacturing Company in Watervliet, Henry retired as comptroller and office manager. In retirement, until almost age 88, he enjoyed swimming at the Saratoga Y and frequent games of golf at Saratoga Spa State Park. He much enjoyed being outdoors and was most aware of God's awesome majesty while admiring the great beauty of His natural world. His favorite place of all time was in the Adirondacks of N.Y., especially in the areas around Lake George where he spent the vacations of his youth and where he went camping with his own young family. He was a loyal friend and a faithful, gentle, loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Eulalie; two daughters, Cheryl (James) Holley of Vestal and Lisa G. Kindt of Latham; one granddaughter, Tanya Brozost (Andrew) Paine of Ithaca; one grandson, Adam J. (Kristina) Brozost of Darmstadt, Germany; one niece, Marlene Cooper (Otto) Andress of Burnt Hills; one nephew, Sheldon (Margie) Cooper of Sun City, Ariz.; and several grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Helene and Spencer R. Cooper. We will celebrate his new birth 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, at Armer Funeral Home, Inc, 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Born in Menands on March 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Howard and Geraldine Kilroy Kinnicutt. Mr. Kinnicutt attended School 20, CBA and Siena College. From 1960-1985, he was employed by the Village of Menands in the Street Department before retiring. He was an entrepreneur who founded the Kinnicutt Bus Company of Menands in 1965 and now is in its 40th year of service. He is a life member of the Menands Fire Co. #1, a member of the Menands Rotary, the Watervliet Lodge of Elks #1500, a board member of the South Albany Airport and a former member of the Warners Lake Association. He was a communicant of St. Brigid's Church in Watervliet and was an usher at the Saturday Vigil Mass. He was an avid New York Giants football fan, loved the outdoors and boating and truly enjoyed helping people. Beloved husband of 50 years of Mary B. LaBelle Kinnicutt; loving father of Kevin H. Makis, a giving, unselfish, loving and kind man, died suddenly Sunday, September 18, 2005 at age 46. Born in Endwell, N.Y., he was the son of Rose Cordi Makis and the late John Makis. He is the beloved and treasured husband of Sandra Vogel-Makis; loving father of Nikki, Kristi and Amy; loving stepfather of Erika, Melissa and Craig Orner; dear brother of John Makis (Mary), David Makis (Mindy), Maria Makis and Larry Cordi (Lisa); he is also survived by many loving friends in the business community, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was employed by the Southern Wine & Spirits Co. where he was the director of wine and programming for Upstate, N.Y. He was previously employed at Eber Bros. Bob loved fly-fishing and was an avid fan of baseball. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his children, whom he loved with all his heart. He found great joy in cooking. Sandy and Bob loved preparing meals together for their family. He was a connoisseur of wine and his knowledge of wine was extensive. He was the wine man at family parties, especially Thanksgiving. Bob had a wine for every course of the meal. He remembered which wines everyone enjoyed and always made sure to bring it. Bob's smile was infectious and the twinkle in his eye was beautiful. His love for Sandy and all the children knew no boundaries. His kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who loved him. EAST GREENBUSH Henry S. Matteo, 98, of East Greenbush, died Monday, September 19, 2005 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Albany, he was a lifelong resident of the Capital Region. Despite dropping out of Albany High in his sophomore year 1922, he returned to Albany High in 1939 graduated and received his Regents College Entrance Diploma in 1942. He began independent study under Regents External Degree Program in 1975, and was awarded B.A. in Political Science in 1982 after a series of tests at SUNYA, North Adams, Mass. State College and Hudson Valley Community College. In 1983 he enrolled in graduate school, SUNYA, and was admitted to the degree program in 1984. In May of 1986 he received his M.A. in political science, and was admitted to doctoral program at SUNYA in the fall of 1986. In 1995 at the age of 88, he received his PhD in political science. Henry started his career as copy boy for the Albany Evening News in 1925, and was promoted to sports department with the Knickerbocker Press in 1927. In 1929 he joined United Press in Albany as staff correspondent (Legislature, Courts). In 1934 he joined the Times Union as a copy editor, and in 1935 transferred to the sports department. In 1942 he returned to United Press and was sent to Hartford, Conn. bureau as manager on an interim basis, in 1943. In 1944 was promoted to night manager of Boston Bureau. From 1944-1945 he accepted a position as news editor with office of War Information in New York, London, and Luxembourg. He worked for Schenectady Union Star as a copy editor from 1945-1946. He joined The Stars & Stripes in Germany as a copy editor from 1946-1947. From 1947-1949 he took a position of assistant editor, Information Bulletin with U.S. Military government in Berlin, Germany. He returned to United Press in 1949 after a short stint as news editor of radio station WXKW in Albany. In 1953 he returned to The Stars & Stripes in Germany as a copy editor. Rejoined The Times-Union, as (successively) rewrite copy editor, telegraph editor, copy chief, Sunday news editor, layout and makeup editor of editorial page, and layout and makeup editor of Sunday business pages from 1955-1969. Henry took a leave of absence in December 1969 and never went back. When the editorial employees of the Knickerbocker News and Times-Union went on strike in 1964, he was a telegraph editor at the T-U. During the strike he went to New York and took a temporary position with the New York Post as rewrite man. After the strike ended, he returned to his job at the T-U. On a number of vacation or his days off, he worked as a copy editor for the Washington Post, San Francisco Examiner, Boston Globe, and San Diego Tribune. He was a former member of the Berlin (German) Press Club, the Stars and Stripes Press Club, and the Tri-City Newspaper Guild. Henry was a published writer and was proud the publisher hadn't made a single correction to his work. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Carmela (Marotta) Matteo; his wife, Dorothy M. (Field) Matteo; a daughter, Marcia (Matteo) McDermott; his sisters, Anna Sano, Mildred Marie Matteo; his brothers, Gerald, Daniel, William and Anthony Matteo. Henry is survived by two sons, Henry D. Matteo of Ft. Ticonderoga and Earl R. Matteo of East Greenbush. Also survived by two grandchildren, Stephen M. McDermott and Mechelle McDermott, both of Cleveland, Tenn.; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Raised in Skaneateles, N.Y. before moving to the Galway and Schenectady areas, where she lived for many years. She was an office manager for Schwartz Family Dentistry in Schenectady for many years prior to moving to Myrtle Beach. Mikulak, 79, of Van Schoonhoven Square, died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family at Saratoga Hospital Monday morning, September 19, 2005. Patricia lived most of her life in Peekskill with her beloved husband Stephen, who passed away in 1983. Together they owned and operated Mikulak Cleaners for 35 plus years. Patricia was a member of the Dry Cleaners Association, the Peekskill Yacht Club and the Peekskill Elks Club. Patricia and her husband retired to N.C. and after Stephen's death Patricia returned to N.Y. to be with her family. For the past 15 years, Patricia resided at Van Schoonhoven Square where she made many new friends that she loved dearly. Patricia enjoyed boating with her husband in her earlier years, working in the garden, playing pokeno, bingo and poker and sitting in the sun. Patricia was an avid baseball fan and loved the New York Yankees. She loved the beach, the warm weather and most of all loved traveling with her family. Her life was centered around her children and family. She will be missed greatly by her family and especially by her daughter Pam. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela A. Kelts and her husband Bill of Waterford; her son, Richard S. Mikulak and his wife Joan formerly of Peekskill; and her grandchildren, Kristen and Bill Kelts and Stephen and Stacy Mikulak. Charles Joseph Chuck O'Hara Jr., 51, of Waltham, was stricken ill and passed away suddenly on Friday, September 16, 2005 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Chuck was born in Albany, N.Y., son of the late Charles Joseph Sr. and Mary Hanratty O'Hara. He attended Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, N.Y., where he lettered in varsity basketball. In 1976, Chuck graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was a member of the Academy's Olympic Team Handball. Upon graduation, Chuck served in the United States Army as an infantry officer with the rank of captain. He was stationed at Schoffield Barracks in Hawaii and also served as an instructor at Ft. Benning, Ga. Chuck lived in Westborough for 20 years. He was a member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Church. As an active member of the Westborough Community, Chuck coached Little League, soccer and basketball for all age groups. In 2003, he moved to Waltham and became actively involved in his community. Chuck was president, CEO and co-founder of TCI Technologies in Framingham, Mass. He is survived by his sons, Charles Patrick O'Hara and wife Megan T. of Midland, Ga. and John Thomas O'Hara of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Carol Kerlin O'Hara of Box Springs, Ga.; his brother, John Andrew O'Hara of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his sisters, Nancy Kearney of Wellesley and Maureen Mulcahy of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; and four nephews, Andrew and William Mulcahy and John Kenneth and Regan Kearney. Preddice, Robert Walter GLENVILLE Robert Walter Preddice, 79, of Clifford Drive, died Sunday, September 18, 2002 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, the son of Walter and Louise Hildebrandt Preddice. Robert graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, class of 1944. He served with the 125th infantry, Company G, as a private during World War II. He then graduated from the University of Michigan with a double major in history and philosophy. Subsequently, he received his master's in education from Albany State University. As a Hollis, Queens, N.Y., resident Mr. Preddice attended Columbia University before moving to Horseheads, N.Y. He was employed with the Bendix Corporation in Elmira as a tool designer. He married the former Jacqueline Driscoll on December 23, 1966 and moved to Glenville where he was a teacher for the Schalmont School and later Amsterdam High School, retiring in 1991. Mr. Preddice was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, its parish council and volunteered with Baptist Retirement Center and Literacy Volunteers of America. Bob worked part-time in the Realty business. He particularly enjoyed taking trips in a small engine airplane with his friend, motorcycling and photography. He had learned from his grandfather how to craft wood and built two boats by himself! He enjoyed literature, crossword puzzles and was known to have a sweet tooth. Born in Troy, August 18, 1919, he was the son of the late William and Mary O'Brien Rabbitt. Jack graduated from Lansingburgh High School. He was a brakeman and conductor for over 40 years with the Boston and Maine Railroad in Mechanicville, until his retirement in 1981. Jack was also a railroad conductor with the U.S. Army during World War II, serving with the 743rd Railway Operating Battalion in Central Europe and the Rhineland. Jack was a proud and active member of the American Legion's Mohawk Post 1450, Halfmoon, and worked with the weekend festival committee for many years. He was a member and former local chairman of Local 301, United Transportation Union. Jack also had been secretary of the Railroad Retirees Monday Morning Breakfast Club for a number of years, and was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. COLONIE Paul C. Schleede, 75, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2005 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on December 31, 1929 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Paul C. and Emelia H. Schleede. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, attaining the rank of corporal. He worked as a steam fitter at General Electric for 37 1/2 years, before retiring in 1987. Paul was very active with many churches. He was currently a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Colonie and Hope Lutheran in Bonita Springs, Fla. He was instrumental in the building of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Latham and was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran in Albany, where he was president of the congregation. Paul also was active with Harvest Time Ministries in Bonita Springs where they assisted migrant workers in Southwest Fla. with food, clothing, toys and bibles.
