Walsh Kiley "Kiley, Catherine W., Albany, [Albany County, New York, USA]. Catherine Walsh Kiley died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N. Y. She was 87. She was the widow of Dr. John E. Kiley, an internationally known nephrologist, who died in December, 2001. They were married for 56 years. Mrs. Kiley was the daughter of Mary Graham Walsh and Edward J. Walsh, Sr. (Poestenkill, [Troy County, N.Y. [USA]) She was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Walsh (in childhood) and Edward J. Walsh, Jr. (Poestenkill, [Troy County] N. Y. [USA]), Marie Walsh Quell (Averill Park, N. Y.) and Florence Walsh Heavers (Wyantskill, N.Y.) Mrs. Kiley was a native of Poestenkill [Troy County, New York, USA]. She was a 1937 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy, [Troy County] N.Y.[USA] Prior to her marriage, she was employed by National City Bank in Troy [Poestenvill, Troy County, New York, USA]. In 1946, Mrs. Kiley and her infant son joined Dr. Kiley in Germany where he was stationed after World War II. They resided in Fulda, Germany, for two years. From 1951 until 1979, Mrs. Kiley was a resident of Slingerlands, N.Y., where she and her husband raised their five children. She was a sustainer in the Junior League of Albany and a communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, N.Y. and a volunteer at the Albany Institute of History and Art. She was an active volunteer in numerous other civic and charitable organizations as well. From 1978 until 1993, Mrs. Kiley lived in Jackson, Miss., where her husband had accepted a position on the faculty of the University of Mississippi Medical School. While in Jackson, Mrs. Kiley was a member of the Jackson Yacht Club, a sustainer in the Junior League of Jackson, and a docent at the Mississippi Museum of Art. After returning from Jackson, Mrs. Kiley and her husband made their home in Glenmont, N. Y. Mrs. Kiley is survived by her five children, Captain Edmund I. Kiley, USCG (Ret.) (Ruth Williams Kiley) of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; Elizabeth Kiley Kinder (Mrs. Ralph Miller Kinder), of Providence, Rhode Island; Dr. Catherine Kiley (the wife of Dr. Donald Schoch) of South Dartmouth, Mass.; Mary Ellen Henderson (Mrs. John Scott Henderson), of Fairlee, Vt.; and C. Abbie Kiley (wife of J. Michael Bergen) of Troy [Troy County, New York, USA]. Mrs. Kiley is also survived by eight grandchildren and her sister, Alma Clement (Mrs. Leo Clement) of Poestenkill [Troy County, New York, USA]. Relatives and firends are invited to call on Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue., Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. Friday, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Those who wish may send a remembrance in her name to Saint Thomas the Apostle School, 42 Adams Place, Delmar, N.Y., 12054; the Albany Institute of History and Art, 125 Washington Avenue, Albany, New York 12210; or the Mississippi Museum of Art, 380 South Lamar Street, Jackson, MS 39201."
