In the name of God Amen _ The seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three, I Samuel Jolly of the town of Coeymans being through the blessings of God in a sound state of mind and memory but calling to mind the frail time of this life and that it is appointed once for all men to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say I give bequeath and dispose of it in the manner and proportion here following to wit _ Firstly, I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved Brother Hugh Jolly my undivided half of the farm now in our possession and to us both belonging lying and suituate in the town of Coeymans together with all the farming utensils belonging to the same. I give and bequeath to the children of my oldest brother James Jolly deceased viz Hugh and his sisters Margaret and Mary to the said Hugh I give and bequeath the sum of Three hundred dollars and to the said Margaret and Mary the sum of Two hundred dollars to each to be to them in hand paid in two years after my decease in lawful money of the United States. I also give and bequeath to Samuel Jolly son of the said Hugh last mentioned the sum of One hundred dollars to be ___ to him in hand paid within two years after my decease in lawful money of the United States _ I also give and bequeath to the children of my eldest sister Jane Crumb deceased viz to Hugh Crumb the sum of of Four hundred dollars to Jennet sister of the said Hugh the sum of Three hundred dollars, to Mary Lewis (daughter of Jean also sister of the said Hugh and deceased) the sum of One hundred and fifty dollars and to the children of the said Jean deceased by James Hutchersen the sum of One hundred and fifty dollars to be equally divided amont them all to be to them all in hand paid within two years after my decease in lawful money of the United States. I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved sister Jennet wife of James Alexander the sum of One Thousand dollars to be to her in hand paid two years after my decease in lawful money of the United States. I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved nice [sic] Elizabeth wife of James Stephens the sum of One thousand dollars together with all my house hold furniture except such as is hereinafter disposed of, also, two cows. I give and bequeath to my beloved nice Mary wife of Peter Garret the sum of one hundred dollars to be to her in hand paid within two years after my decease. I also give and bequeath to my beloved niece Martha Jolly one feather bed and the sum of one hundred dollars. I also give and bequeath to my nephew James W Jolly my horse and Gold Watch. I also give and bequeath to Samuel Jolly son of my nephew Henry Jolly the sum of One hundred dollars to be to him in hand paid within two years after my decease in lawful money of the United States. Lastly, I nominate constitute and appoint my Brother Hugh Jolly and my nephew James W Jolly Sole Executors and my nice Elizabeth Stephens Sole Executrix of this which I declare to be my last Will & Testament. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal on this the day and year above mentioned. Signed sealed published and pronounced and declared by the said Samuel Jolly as his last will and testament in presence of we the Subscribers. Hugh A Mosher, James R Roe, Phillip Kimmey Additional Comments: A codicil dated 7 Jul 1843 does not contain any new names, but bequeaths money for erecting a Methodist Episcopal church at Jaynes Corners, and to the missionary society of the Methodist E church. The codicil was reaffirmed on 14 Apr 1851, after Samuel's decease.
