Brown buwbrown@comcast.net August 31, 2008, 12:30 pm Unknown newspaper, Almond, NY Malissa Reynolds was born in Massachusetts in 1844. Soon after she removed to New York state with her parents and fifty years ago she married Wm. Nephew, who has nearly always been a resident of this place. For a few years they resided in Dansville. A hard working, honorable couple, good neighbors and quiet, home staying people. Mrs. Nephew is the first to be laid to rest - done with time - to await what eternity may bring. She had been ill for several months and her illness was a gradual breaking up of body and mind after so many years of ceaseless toil. Thursday evening, March 20, 1902, she passed away. Deceased is survived by the husband, five sons, Proctor, Frank and Robert of Hornellsville, William and Alvin of Almond, and three daughters, Mrs. Emmogene Stewart of Hornellisville, Mrs. George Merrill of Almond, and Elvira, who is at Willard hospital. The funeral was held from the M.E. church Sunday, Rev. Dr. Straight officiating. Burial at Woodlawn. Additional Comments: The birth date of 1844 is evidently a typographical error, for Malissa (Reynolds) Nephew was born in Aug. 1824.
