I Bernard Coyle of the town of Scio County of Allegany and State of New York being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do, therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, that is to say: First - After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged I give, and bequeath to my Sons Philip, Michael Hugh Bernard John Richard, Edward and James, one dollar each I also give, and bequeath to daughters Margaret Susan and Maryann, one dollar each. I also give and bequeath to the Roman Catholic Orphan Asylum of the City of Buffalo, N.Y. Twenty dollars to be paid on or before six years after my death. I give, and bequeath to Rose Ann my Wife the remainder of my real and personal estate during her natural life or as long as she remains my widow If she should remarry, then she shall have as much of my property as the law will alow, and, no more. The balance of my property, at the time of such marriage to be equally divided between my children then living. At the time of her death what property there is left is to be equally divided between my children. Like wise, I make constitute and appoint my brother Peter Coyle and my brother John Coyle to be Execut of this my last Will and Testament here revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness Where of, I have here unto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty four. Bernard Coyle S.S. Wilkes Angel was appointed Special Guardian for Edwin P. Coyle, Richard Coyle, Mary Ann Coyle and James T. Coyle. Punctuation and spelling is as it appears in the Journal. Bernard Coyle was Town Clerk in Scio in 1864, 1865, 1869-71, and 1878.
